  1. I’d rather have it on an 1100, too.
  2. In theory, I guess. That said, six round mags are short and bulky. It just seems like that’s going to be clunky coming out of a load carrier. As with anything, practice, practice practice I guess.
  3. When I was taught to run a shotgun, the paradigm was you’re either shooting it, moving with it, or feeding it. This doesn’t seem to materially affect any of those. I’m sure they’ll sell a bunch of them. But, I don’t see how this really does anything better than another shotgun.
  4. Somebody help me out here. I’m sure the gamers will appreciate this, and I’m all for more choice in the market. But, does this actually affect anyone who really runs a shotgun?
  5. That's a good call. I've got one that rides in my pocket to keep the mudbug, pen and light from falling down in my pocket.
  6. I could go for a Spyderco PM3 or Worker, too for smaller dress carry, too. I've got one of the sprint run PM2's that I put a deep carry clip and canvas micarta scales on. I did it specifically for when I'm wearing a tailored suit and don't want a heavier blade weighing the pockets down. I can appendix carry it in my waistband with the clip behind my belt. No one is the wiser and I've got access to something really fast and pointy if needed.
  7. I can't say enough good things about the Spyderco Dragonfly either. It's got a clip. The one linked is VG-10 steel. It's capable of big knife jobs. https://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Dragonfly--6705 It's small enough that I can clip it in the watch pocket on a pair of 501s. They've got FRN versions that are even lighter. I've got all of the above knives if you want to try any of them out.
  8. Congrats on the new gig! Clips are hard on suit pants. Get just a little bit of bite on something edgy like G10 and it'll eat a hole in weeks. I dig this little Benchmade Proper: https://www.bladehq.com/item--Benchmade-Proper-Slip-Joint-Knife--69123 I've been carrying the heck out of a Smith and Sons Mudbug is natural canvas micarta lately. It's a lockback commission of Great Eastern Cutlery's Sodbuster. Both are a far cry rom the TR4, but they both pull their weight.
  9. That’s sweet!
  10. Haven’t we mostly disproved the EMP threat from an atmospheric blast caused by a nuke this size?
  11. I would expect an atmospheric test at some point in the near future if things keep progressing as they are. That will almost certainly result in a military response.
  12. I'd at the very least agree that college ball players should get a tuition waiver that allows them to matriculate towards a traditional degree at any point of their choosing in the future. Sure, you've put in a ton of work to try to get a shot at the pros. Take that shot. But, we should recognize that most of these kids won't go pro - and a lot of our schools make it hard to be a student and an athlete. We should do right by the players by giving them the chance to get the education that will serve them once their sports career is done.
  13. Are they just going to sit out next year?
  14. I've shot plenty of it over the years. It wouldn't be my first choice if something equivalent was available at the same price - but as I sit here and think about it, I don't have any reasonable basis for that. At one point I had thousands of pieces of new primed S&B brass that I worked my way through. I don't remember a single failure.
  15. Mark Bowden (the author of Black Hawk Down) wrote a pretty good article in the Atlantic a couple of months ago. I'd suggest it to anyone thinking about a military intervention in North Korea: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/07/the-worst-problem-on-earth/528717/ I don't disagree that we might end up there eventually. But, from my perspective, the lack of good options makes slowing the rush to war a good thing.
  16. So, in that case you can either add a scope mount for the rifle - then add a scope, or you can go with a scope like above that will fit the grooves in the receiver. You could spend a lot or a little here. You could easily spend as much as the rifle is worth - but be able to move it to another platform later. Were it me, I’d probably go with a simple rimfire scope and go get some squirrels.
  17. Is that receiver drilled for a scope mount or do you need to use tip-off rings like on an air rifle? I don't know that I'd look much further than something like this: http://www.cabelas.com/product/BSA-Special-Riflescope/748951.uts?productVariantId=1710874&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=70001510&rid=20&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItpWW3aPn1wIV2rbACh3kRA-9EAQYBSABEgL7ZfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds You can get better glass, but it's hard to argue that you'll need it at the ranges you're shooting at. It sounds like you're probably better sticking with something economical but adequate to the job. There are Bushnell and Tasco equivalents that have served generations of shooters well, too.
  18. Man, Siri is good for some things, but apparently transcription isn’t one of them. I read those sentences and thought, “who wrote that?” Then I remembered that I dictated it while I was out walking last night and it made more sense.
  19. I used one with my black lab. It had to modes. And adjustable shock mode and a baby mode. I used it in shock mode exactly once on each of us. I wanted to get a feel for the different levels, and I used it with her when she was young learning to heel off leash. She was a smart enough dog that she figured out what I wanted very quickly. But, I used it with her in the field for years on beep mode. I trained her on beeps to follow commands when she was out of earshot from me. Like anything, you have to put in the time, but it worked great and I would use it again. Mine was a Sport Dog version, too. Seems like the batteries wouldn’t last more than about a year, but they’re pretty cheap. You’ve got a dog thinks it’s the boss, and you’re gonna have to get that squared away soon or you likely won’t get another chance. You’ve got the focus, and the patience, and the time though, so I expect it won’t be a problem
  20. Yeah, truthfully that has more to do with the fact that UT just doesn’t make it onto my radar screen. Vanderbilt hasn’t had much of a season, so it’s hard to imagine a team being bad enough to get spanked that soundly.
  21. Man. I thought Vanderbilt might have the heart to win today - but I wouldn’t have bet on them beating UT that soundly. That’s a pretty embarrassing end to and an embarrassing season for the Vols.
  22. So many of the manufacturers are leveraged to their eyeballs and have depended on military contracts to stay afloat. It wouldn’t surprise me to see us a few of the brands bought for pennies on the dollar at auction over the next few years.
  23. Every family has crazy somewhere... But, I am truly thankful that it’s far enough removed from both sides of my wife’s and my immediate family that I can enjoy two Thanksgiving dinners without the crazy family drama that so many experience.
  24. My kids walked through the woods for two miles this morning with their granddad. Apparently to the QuikTrip to get giant cold drinks. Fun times.
  25. Today I am truly thankful for family and friends. I’m thankful for the relationship my kids have with their grandparents. I’m thankful for recipes that have been passed down for generations through families. And, I’m thankful for pecan pie.
