  1. It's probably a good preview of things to come. They're going to be in the crosshairs - and they'll probably signal how they're going to respond from here.
  2. I saw Graham once in person - maybe around 2000. It was a neat experience. I've always appreciated his humility. So much so, that I wouldn't even rank him amongst the televangelists that came and went throughout his career. He certainly had his failings - and I've heard him reflect on learning from those. The kingdom lost a great worker today.
  3. But don’t forget, they’re still counting on your vote later this year...
  4. Yes, I’ve been using the Super Slick stuff for a while. I run 30lbs. on my surf rods, and it Really does cast further.
  5. I was PowetPro only for years until I had $300 of it in my cart one day. While it was a little thicker early on, KastKing always tested at least to it’s weight rating - and occasionally a good bit higher. Over the last year or two, they’ve improved a lot in little areas. The diameter has gone down. The color stays pretty fast. And the abrasion resistance actually seems better than PowerPro. I’d be glad to spool up one of your reels if you want to bring one by one day so you can test it out. After trying them side by side, I really don’t even think about it anymore. It’s at least the same quality in the weights I use.
  6. I prefer braid on most of my reels because of the lack of stretch - and thus the sensitivity in feeling bites. Line twist can be a problem with braid if not managed appropriately. While I generally find good abrasion resistance with modern braid, it’s worth keeping an eye on the business end of your line and trimming as needed. I generally still tip my braid with a fluorocarbon leader. You need a different set of knots for braid - it’s slippery stuff and quite capable of cutting through itself - and you if you’re not careful.
  7. Nobody does old school bluing better than Turnbull. I know there are more durable finishes these days - but there sure aren’t prettier ones.
  8. weird.
  9. I’m a little out of that range, but I went to a Lowrance EliteTi 7. After having a Hook model in the kayak and a decent Garmin on the boat, I promised myself that I’d learn to really run one. I haven’t really mastered all of the features, yet. But it’s amazing. I really can’t say enough good things about it.
  10. I usually just order from Amazon. I try to support my local mom and pops whenever I can, but I also generally buy 1500m spools which is something they almost never stock. Incidentally, the smaller test line is the only stuff where I’ve stuck with a major manufacturer - and that’s only because I’ve not tested other stuff yet. For 20, 30, and 50 pound braid I’ve moved almost exclusively to generic KastKing brand for about 1/4 cost of PowerPro. I actually like it a little better, as it seems to have better abrasion resistance.
  11. I love Suffix 832 ghost braid in 6#. It’s definitely my go to line for light tackle.
  12. For someone who’s not particularly religious, that message will sure preach.
  13. If only they’d let us do that on those pretty golf courses.
  14. There's decent hog hunting in Alabama - it's a long trip for a weekend from Johnson City, though. I've been hearing about Loshbough for years, and have never heard a negative - or even mediocre comment.
  15. Interesting. Definitely has my mind going. This seems like an area where there’s some room for innovation.
  16. I’d love to see some pictures and a description of the process from someone who knows what they’re doing.
  17. I’ve always kind of figured that most of a valet’s compensation is in the tips they receive. I figure the extra couple of bucks may not impact me much at this point in my life - but it might in theirs. Life is short...
  18. Prayers for you all.
  19. http://nashvillepublicradio.org/post/tennessee-lawmakers-hope-set-tone-years-gun-debate-rare-show-bipartisanship http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB2476 Interesting "gun related" bill making its way through the senate - exempting the sale of gun safes from sales tax. It's got support from both sides - and the NRA may sign on.
  20. I’m sure I’ll be in.
  21. I was having this conversation with a parent the other day. At least around Nashville, lacrosse and hockey have really seen a surge as parents are fearful of football. It would change the game, but you’re starting to see support for taking the helmets away so that players can’t lead with their heads.
  22. Have they given any description as to how they’re making the slide easier to rack?
  23. So, a thumb safety, a grip safety and "single action." I'm curious as to what they mean by that last part. I guess with an internal hammer, it is cocked once you rack the slide? I'd like to shoot it. There's sure not a lot of marketing cohesion for a launch
  24. Glock 19. They've made plenty that are prettier and more fun. They've yet to make a better one.
