area-nashville Anti-Gunners Coming to Hendersonville
MacGyver replied to CJDore's topic in Events and Gatherings
Here’s the link for anyone who might care: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.tennessean.com/amp/395945002 So, a rally in support of school walkouts at 7:00PM? -
230gr. Federal HSTs. I've shot a metric ton of Speer Gold Dot's in the same weight. Reliability with both has been 100%, and I've never had a stoppage out of either in my 1911. I prefer the HST because the tech is a little newer - and I've hunted with the round and seen it's effectiveness. You'll need to shoot enough of whatever round you choose to ensure that you can say the same in your chosen platform.

Have no doubt, Rick Scott is a bellwether. He’s an A+ rated Republican who essentially just flipped the NRA the bird. Others are watching. If he doesn’t pay a political price, plenty more will line up to follow him. It’s interesting to watch an organization built in opposition - which it’s extremely effective at - show vulnerability from the inside. I wouldn’t write them off, yet. They’re undoubtedly reminding Republicans of the consequences of crossing them - and I’m sure they’ll primary a few to serve as warnings to others.

Good to see you around!

I’ve not seen the documents in the Forrest case, but if they read the same as Barry’s, upon payment of restitution and *unsupervised* probabtion, he can pay the $450 administrative fee to have his record formally expunged. Both will have clean records in the eyes of the law. Ironic that Barry is getting a different treatment than she advocated for concerning other felons who’ve paid their debts.

Inexpensive guns are often hard to find on the used market. At that low of a price to begin with, people rarely sell - the just keep them around for a rainy day.

Seeing the expungement agreement as a part of her plea deal yesterday definitely made me think we’ve not seen the last of her. I hope I’m wrong about that. The affair is really between her and her husband at this point. While I hope they’ll seek counseling or whatever they feel is appropriate, I’ll extend some grace there. The breach of public trust, misuse of the office for her own gain, corruption, and theft of public funds should prevent her from ever holding office again.

Those look great! -
He’s still around. Just not online as much. If you need something let me know and I can get you in touch with him.

I flat out love the Ti3. There’s no telling how many of them I’ve bought. But, Surefire is my go to when I know it’s going to get used hard.

The results look like they speak for themselves.

CCW in a school that's not in session???
MacGyver replied to leafinthewind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It’s pretty well verboten all the time. -
I’m probably lucky that I live in a place where I don’t have the need to think about filming stuff. Or maybe it’s a generational thing. But I’ll tell you, it wouldn’t have crossed my mind in 100 years to pull out my phone and fIlm. I suppose it could just be me, though. Other than someone driving unsafely while my kids are nearby, I can’t remember the last time a stranger really offended me. Life is really short.

You wound up feeling kind of bad for her - in a "that was a really well taught lesson" kind of way. Even the employees who were going to be bearing the brunt of cleaning it up were laughing.

Heck, I generally like seeing even poorly behaved dogs most of the time. I saw someone's "service dog" with a vest going absolutely bonkers in Target the other day. biting on it's leash, pulling, jumping, dashing in every direction. I chuckled to myself at the owner's frustration over her lack of control and thought, "I bet you're really rethinking bringing your dog in here with the vest you got off eBay." About that time, the dog pooped right in the middle of the aisle. The lady bent down to try to address it with the dog's leash still in her hand. About that time the dog dashed towards something that caught it's eye and the lady found herself flat on her back having fallen in poop. It may be childish - but I laughed about it most of the afternoon.

People probably shouldn't get too worried...yet. I'm not convinced that what we saw yesterday was anything more than the DACA "negotiations" a couple of weeks ago. And, you see where that went. I have no doubt that the NRA is out there manning the phones this morning reminding every single member that they've contributed to that they have a list of names waiting to primary them. Yes, hard line positions are out of sync with most of the population. But, most of the population doesn't vote in primaries. That is the ground game that then NRA excels at. Trump is really a non-entity here. Sure, he'll do just about anything to move the "they like me" needle. He lacks a fundamental understanding of policy. But, he doesn't make laws - he signs them after Congress passes them. There are 535 people who have to come to consensus before you really have to worry about what Trump is going to do.

Had Obama said “take their guns first and worry about due process later” violence might have erupted and the GOP would have tripped over one another trying to vote for articles of impeachment.

Tight upper AR receivers?
MacGyver replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Will DSA not exchange it? Seems like you could mic it and send a picture and they ought to replace it. Better than getting sued later on because an out of spec receiver injured someone. -
Tight upper AR receivers?

I wonder if you could reach out to a smaller manufacturer to get them to undersize the receiver so that you need to chuck it up in the lathe and hone it to fit. -
Tight upper AR receivers?
MacGyver replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
The CMT uppers I’ve built have required cooling to get barrels in the receiver. On my .308, I think it would take a signed note from Congress to get it back out.
