Something that's not the Kavanaugh confirmation
MacGyver replied to Ronald_55's topic in General Chat
So yeah, it's one "normal" firing followed by two slam fires with the gas routed to actuate the modified bolts in succession. I wonder what the out of battery rate was in testing? -
This shooting has been getting a lot of attention in Nashville - especially after the Jocques Clemmons shooting the year before. The particulars of this case seem to stem from how they stopped the car in the first place. Grand juries almost never indict an officer - so that in and of itself makes this significant.

Same person clearly did both. -

I’d like for the FBI to conduct an investigation into who did this. -
Shotguns with slugs during Muzzleloader Season?
MacGyver replied to Ronald_55's topic in Hunting and Fishing
They’ve been talking about it and allowing large bore single shots. License holders got a survey earlier this year. I have not seen a change - and wouldn’t expect one this season. -
Yep.

It kind of hurts my feelings to see a gun with that character get refinished. Be careful with the bluing chemicals if you try it - that stuff is pretty toxic.

Between Jaws and Oddjob - those Bond movies had two of the creepiest henchmen of all times.

We often talk so much about bad stuff happening on this board - it's probably worth noting that dental health is one area where life has gotten so much better for the majority of the population. It used to be that by middle age - dental health for a lot of people was a major issue. And, dental issues can lead to so many other health issues. In just a couple of generations with the introduction of fluoride - you've got people keeping their teeth into their 80s. It's really amazing - and worth noting.

I remember Jaws for the first time as a young kid on some TBS Bond marathon. I don't know that there's even been a movie character that's creeped me out for as long as Jaws has.

Officer entering wrong apartment, killing occupant

If they're thinking about an upgraded charge - this will be primary evidence. -
I don’t know anyone that’s ever regretted a BCM purchase.

Any 'mil-spec' upper should mate with the lower. They're billet machined, and the profile may be a bit different. But, those cosmetic differences shouldn't affect function.

The OBR variants are great rigs. Note that they’re running proprietary uppers, though. Good accuracy with the free-floating barrel system - but you might trade off some field interchangeability if that’s important to you. I’ve always liked their “tool roll” bag for the OBRs.

There is exactly zero penalty for getting it checked out. And, if something is wrong - you’ll be far better off dealing with it now as opposed to wishing you had. I’d at the very least give them a call today.

It’s not going to be black and plastic when he finds it.

The KAC URX III is my favorite rail of all times. I love their rifles - but having run several I don’t know that they be my TEOTWAKI walking around choice. They’re picky - and parts are expensive and can be hard to find. I think my off the shelf rig right now would be a Noveske Gen 4 PDW or a straight up Gen III with a switchblock. They’re both available in 16” setups. The LWRC IC-A2 is a great shooting setup, too. All of this assumes 5.56.

They work great for that.

I like how the OWB "wings" spread out a little bit on the Vedder. -

This is one of these things that even if you have the knowledge, money, and experience to know how to do it right - it still takes a lot of time, patience - and probably not a little luck to get good results. I appreciate anytime I see someone go to this level of detail to get something right. -
Yep, y’all should give Doug a call. His prices and his quality are awesome!

That’s awesome! Similarly, for gulf coast fishing this is one of the few rigs we’ve found that you can throw where your chances are better than even to catch a trashcan grand slam - a blue, a ladyfish, and a whiting. I don’t know that kids much care what they catch - as long as they catch something.
-
I'll also note - if you really want to get a kid into fishing - let them make their own lures. Hungry redfish will bite just about anything - and there may be no greater thrill to a kid than catching something with a lure they made. We found this site a while back - and have thoroughly enjoyed arts and crafts time since.

Find a good oyster bed, and it gets ugly. My middle daughter calls speckled trout "fish tacos."
