Yes. Multifactor authentication. Basically, this is the process where you need an app or a device (like a phone) each time you log in from a new device. It means that to log in, you need something you have (the device) in addition to something you know (the password). This protects you in a couple of ways. First, since most of America uses the same password everywhere - if your password is compromised somewhere else, they can't simply log in. Second, since people routinely fall for phishing messages and expose their password - again, you prevent the malicious actor from being able to log in. They might have your username/password, but they need your device to log in from Nigeria or Bulgaria or wherever. I really cannot recommend it enough for your mail, your financial accounts, and your social media.

You could always play along and troll him...

He must have been fast. I banned him with 10 minutes of joining. Your email by itself isn’t worth much. But, here’s a regular reminder to use a unique, strong password for email. And, as most cloud email providers support MFA - use it. It absolves us of a multitude of sins.

He was clearly a spammer. They posted the exact same solicitation in about 15 different WTB ads within a couple of minutes. I’d proceed with caution - they’re almost certainly a scammer. They listed their location as TX. The IP showed somewhere else.
  5. This is the same thing we’d suggest if your husband joined looking for a gun for you.
  6. It's probably listed in the manual somewhere. Typically I'd say it's 5/8x24 on a .30 cal. But, that might not be a fair assumption on a Kimber. I know they did some in 7/16x28.
  7. You're welcome to shoot mine anytime. What's the thread pitch on those Kimbers?
  8. Do it. As someone who’s made a few knives with a hacksaw and a few files, you can do a lot with a little if you’re willing to invest some elbow grease. If I wanted to do it on the cheap, I’d probably use some hardwood charcoal (or coal) and a cheap blower motor. The hard thing with a railroad spike will be heat treating and getting a durable edge with mild steel. If it were me, I’d practice on a spike or two, then buy a piece of 3/4 square bar stock of 1085 or something that could be properly heat treated.
  9. Uninsured motorist insurance doesn't pay for someone else's insurance. It pays for repairs on *your* vehicle if someone who doesn't have insurance hits you.
  10. The 1959 version of the Mummy scared the heck out of me as a child.
  11. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
  12. I saw those two together at the Ryman back in the day. Man, those were great shows. Robert Earl Keen’s 20th Anniversary of Live Dinner is totally worth a listen. Whenever I want to just hear my kids sing at the top of their lungs, I’ll cue up Feeling Good Again in the car. My oldest says the song makes her think that’s what heaven must be like.
  13. I wish they had a date where they were together In Nashville. I thought about making the drive to see this one.
  14. I’d stay the heck out of there come a full moon. No telling what might happen.
  15. One day somebody is going to both improve on this design and price it where it should be. I don’t believe the original had a removable choke - nor did it need one.
  16. Don’t forget the 2019 Kia catalog and a hole where his soul used to be...
  17. That's one giant, well fed coyote if that's what it is. It would almost make me want to put some bait out with a game camera. I guess it could be a bear - but y'all don't get too many of them up that way.
  18. If you’re serious about ending homelessness and systemic poverty, then this is a good step in the right direction. Better yet, we’d quit piling on fines over stuff that wouldn’t be a crime if you weren’t homeless anyway, thereby perpetuating the cycle. I can’t count the people I’ve met in the last decade who are working - but what’s keeping them from being housed is court costs and fines that simply keep growing. That’s not hyperbole. It’s literally multiple dozens of people. In Nashville, you pretty much have to have a car to work. That’s clearly not an absolute. But, our hub and spike transit system makes getting pretty much anywhere a multi-hour endeavor if you’re not lucky enough to have your destination on the same line. I get being “tough on crime” and all that. But, the system isn’t going to fix itself. People in poverty aren’t going to pull themselves up by their bootstraps - at least at any scale.
  19. Just about any local brick supplier of any size will have them.
  20. Huh. Did they replace it?
  21. I seem to be the perfect height so that I've broken more than one clip over the years on the FRN models by catching them on door catches as I walk by. But, Spyderco has always replaced them, and it's been years since they used the FRN clips. They've been metal for years. Regardless, you'd be hard pressed to find better customer service in the industry. They've sent me screws and a variety of replacement parts over the years. Give them a call.
  22. For what it’s worth, I try to keep a few ready-to-drink protein shakes like Myoplex or Muscle Milk in the door of my truck during cooler months, too If you want to acknowledge someone’s humanity, but are wary for whatever reason of giving them money - protein shakes are good solid calories.
  23. It’s surprising how much of what people who struggle with homelessness have is really considered disposable. If you’re spending the night at the mission or someplace like that, they’re not going to let you bring more than a single, small backpack in. They might have storage lockers, but they’re not going to be secure. Your stuff is likely to be stolen. Other cities may be different, but with Room In The Inn in Nashville, no one has to spend the night on the street during the winter. We have enough churches to take people in. So, the issue changes to whether or not the place where they’re staying has showers or a washer and dryer. Most little churches don’t, hence if they can get new socks/underwear, they will. Softer protein bars are great, too. So is lip balm.
  24. We work with the homeless weekly from November through March - providing hospitality, feeding, and actually spending the night in a church building with them. Socks, underwear, and chemical hand warmers are by far the items that are sought after the most.
  25. They’re not coming back. We can be nostalgic for the past - but the economic opportunities of the future are going to look a lot different than those of the past. The biggest opportunities will either be hyper-local where distribution doesnt work at scale or they’ll be global.
