  1. I bet they wish that sheriff’s department hadn’t posted those pictures to social media...
  2. I like shooting 300BLK suppressed - but when hunting I still run 110gr TTSX supers most of the time. The suppressor quiets them down some. Its just a good performer in the field.
  3. I don’t think I’d necessarily be against a preserve - if they had a nice lodge and a good chef... I’ve just never had reason to do it. Just not really my thing, I guess.
  4. Most of my time on hogs is in the swamps and bottomlands of South Georgia. I’ve got family down there, so it’s convenient. I’ve been treed by one down there. But, I wasn’t hunting at the time. Me and a friend just happened to be pumping water at a spring when some piglets came out of the underbrush. Mama was not pleased. These days I enjoy chasing them around Black Warrior and a couple other spots in northern Alabama. It’s just closer than Valdosta. I usually run a 45-70 - because that’s what I pretty much shoot everything in the South with these days. But, there’s no telling how many I’ve taken with an old model 94 in 30-30. I’ve taken some with 5.56. I’ve taken one with a 500gr .458 SOCOM round just to see - and it made a real mess. It’s an unpopular opinion these days - but I’ve shot a bunch of pigs that I knew were headed for the freezer in the neck with a .22 WMR. They’re not particularly hard to kill. But, like you I’d hunt hogs 100% of the time over deer or pretty much anything else here in the South.
  5. I’m not sure. It probably varies by maker. The pumps are pretty inexpensive.
  6. The heat pump based hybrid water heaters are great. Doing a yearly maintenance to rescale it will significantly increase its life expectancy.
  7. I’m so prayerful for him, and all of you.
  8. For that, I’d wait until I was going over to Knoxville and take it to @LawEnforcementSalesTN. It’s a job that any competent smith should be able to do, but it’s one that’s easy to screw up, too. Nothing like a baffle strike because some fool threaded it off center.
  9. It's gotten a pretty fair amount of coverage here in Nashville proper. I had relatives in Atlanta asking me about it the other day. It's awful all the way around. One of those kids was 12.
  10. I think the main ingredient that’s not listed on all of those cleaners is old fashioned elbow grease.
  11. I’m surprised they didn’t have to declare it a Super Fund site after it closed. There’s no telling how many tons of PCB’s leaked out of some of those old transformers and stuff. But yeah, if you had time to wander, you’d find about anything you could need or want.
  12. Gracious. I’m thankful that she’s okay. I just said a prayer of thanks for you guys.
  13. Javanco closed years ago - but was a real treat back in the day if you had time to look around. The Gulch hasn’t been the same since. Randolph & Rice closed a few years ago, too. These days, Adafruit is a lot of fun if you’re learning or wanting to get inspired for a project.
  14. I’m with you on this. The indispensable part of my kit in recent years is some Norton’s Universal Cleaning Sticks from County Comm. https://countycomm.com/products/nortons-u-c-s-universal-cleaning-stick?variant=27918689798 Funny thing is, I had no idea I needed them until they threw a couple in with an order. Now I use them for all kinds of stuff and have bought dozens for folks.
  15. I saw the Microsoft ad last week. It’s my favorite by far.
  16. These teams are playing like whoever wins has to go to the White House.
  17. That's pretty cool! I feel like this knife is crying out for an old school beaded leather sheath.
  18. I've tried to re-enable notifications that I can see - but it may be an issue on your mail settings end. I'll send you a PM - let me know if you get a notification in email.
  19. I’m excited to see the Jaeger. An affordable, relatively lightweight, direct thread .30 caliber suppressor would likely sell pretty well.
  20. That said, items that make cold weather outside more tolerable are always appreciated. Socks. Chemical hand-warmers. Small propane refills. Protein shakes. This stuff will always be accepted with gladness. And, if you’re concerned with handing people money - this alleviates that risk.
  21. For folks choosing to live in a ‘homeless camp’ - by and large - they’re there by choice - a lot of mentalities and conditions contribute to that. But, at least in middle Tennessee, if they’re staying in a camp as opposed to taking advantage of some of the resources available, they’re in a place that’s known to authorities and aid workers, they’re trying to stay out of trouble, and they’re not particularly interested in doing something else (at least right now.) Their survival skills are probably more well developed than most of ours ever will be. Couple that with really not welcoming unknown outsiders into their community, and you would probably feel that your time was wasted. That’s not to discourage you from getting involved. There are a ton of places to plug in your desire to help in ways that really are meaningful. Happy to help you find one if you like.
  22. I forgot to mention above that here in the middle Tennessee area, Operation Stand Down Is an amazing organization focused on helping veterans transition back. A big focus of their operation focuses on housing. If you’re looking for a place to volunteer or give - these guys do great work.
  23. No one has to stay on the street in Nashville. Plenty do. There are a lot of reasons for that. Over 180 churches participate in Room In the Inn, feeding and housing the homeless in their churches overnight. We do it once a week, and I stay overnight about once a month. It will change how you think about things when you sit down and share a meal with these folks. My kids go with me, make beds, serve food, and eat with our guests. There are some great advocacy organizations here in middle Tennessee. We really struggle with affordable housing. But programs like RITI make it a lot more tolerable. If anyone is ever interested in seeing what it’s about, if you’re interested in staying overnight, or think your church might want to be involved, shoot me a note. It will change you. If you’re interested in donating/getting involved, here are some great organizations: Room in the Inn - overnight shelter and a variety of services Nashville Rescue Mission Open Table - advocacy and helping get people housed Safe Haven - our only family shelter
  24. Cancer is a evil adversary. My prayers are with you guys.
  25. There's some compelling stuff here. I'd love to see how it shoots.
