The early boxes were stamped with 15 round mags. The day is long past - but there was a time when a mostly polymer .22 pistol with the (as yet unproven) reliability of a Glock would have been a big win for sticking in the bottom of a ruck. These days, there are great options in .22 LR. And I’ve got one of most of them. But, I’ll probably still buy one - because I love shooting .22s. It’s cheap, it suppresses great, and it’s a great way to get new shooters acclimated to shooting. Maybe it’s all the accumulated memories. I was allowed to shoot .22 as soon as I could by my own rounds with my allowance. Once my dad gave the okay, the gentleman at the surplus store up the street would sell me ammo anytime. To this day, I still feel like a king when a break open a box of .22LR to shoot at whatever and nothing in particular. Hickory nuts, cans, squirrels, or old shotgun shell hulls, doesn’t make a difference. I’m game.

I'll probably wait for higher capacity mags - but I'll pick one of these up - and likely give it the full race dragon treatment just for fun.

Whew. That’s a lot of stock and glass for a .22LR. I like it!

Glockstore already has the drop in threaded barrel up: https://store.teamglock.com/g44-items/g44-rh-threaded-barrel-kit.html Metric by default with a 1/2x28 adapter.

My dad just picked up a mid-40's Woodsman that is just beautiful. It wasn't that expensive, either. I had an old Iver Johnson Trailsman (Woodsman copy) when I was a kid that was a tack driver. If you could see it - that thing would hit it. If I found the right deal on either of those - or a High Standard clone, I'd look at it seriously.

Full announcement: GLOCK Debuts a New Caliber Pistol; GLOCK 44 Chambered in .22 LR SMYRNA, Ga. – Dec 10, 2019 GLOCK, Inc., a global leader in firearms manufacturing and innovation, invites you to start the .22 Long Rifle (LR) caliber journey with the introduction of the new GLOCK 44. The company debuted its first-ever .22 LR caliber pistol at a live product launch that included select media partners and distributors on site while GLOCK fans and brand loyalists tuned in to be a part of the experience from around the globe. Since inception, GLOCK has been synonymous with reliability, accuracy and durability. GLOCK does not compromise when it comes to quality and reliability in a firearm. Now you can get the same trusted reliability and durability in a .22 LR caliber pistol. The GLOCK 44 has a unique hybrid steel-polymer slide and mirrors the iconic GLOCK 19 frame size for optimal performance for new shooters, sport shooters, and everyone in between. “The way the G44 mirrors the iconic G19 is great and all levels of shooters will benefit from owning and practicing with the G44,” said Retired Marine Gunner Christian Wade. “I subjected the G44 to a variety of adverse conditions and it holds its own with every other GLOCK ever produced.” Wade was one of two partners selected by GLOCK to rigorously test the GLOCK 44 in a variety of climates and adverse conditions. With over 30 years in the Marine Corps and as a firearms expert, Wade understands the importance of functionality and ease of use is realized in the GLOCK platform and carried on to the GLOCK 44. GLOCK has taken everything that is fun and functional about a .22 LR caliber pistol and enhanced it to improve your experience with optimal performance. “While many .22 LR firearms exhibit tendencies to function differently with particular ammunition types, the G44 pistol functioned to near perfection,” said Bryan Peterson, Manager of Product Concept Development at Federal Ammunition. Peterson was also a partner included in early testing and extended his expertise of ammunition through testing the G44 with thousands of rounds and a large variety of ammunition. The G44 features many of the latest enhancements seen in the 5th Generation of GLOCK pistols such as the ambidextrous slide stop lever and reversible magazine catch, the GLOCK Marksman barrel (GMB) for increased accuracy and performance, adjustable back straps, and adjustable rear sights. The G44 also features a ghost hole loaded chamber indicator and comes standard with two 10-round load assist magazines. For more information about the new GLOCK 44, visit www.plink44.com.

Gotta look out for the aftermarket suppliers. I bet LoneWolf already has one ready to go. Of all the things Glock could do - this is probably the easiest, smartest decision they could make. They'll sell a jillion of them.

That’s a good thought. If no one takes you up on them, my wife is a teacher in a school that’s collecting gifts for their own students. I’m certain they’d be appreciated.

Neat! i bet it was beautiful and way less crowded than it’s bigger cousin to the west.

That’s awesome.

Having had several of both, they’re both great guns. The Smith has its legendary reputation for a reason. I’ve currently got a bunch of Rugers. They’re reliable and good shooters. If I had to start over today, I’d go straight to the Volquartsen milled frame with some VZ grips. I’ve shot a variety of uppers. The Tactical Solutions and the Volquartsen ones are both great shooters.

I hope each of you has a day filled with warmth and family - whether it’s the one you were born into or the one you choose.

Nikon exiting rifle scope market

It’s a shame. Nikon had some good quality, value priced glass. -
No doubt.

When you’ve gone down the private equity route for as long as they have, suddenly being left out in the wind with less access to capital is not a good thing. You can read this as, “we’ve pillaged all we’re likely to get, so let’s push all the future risk off onto shareholders.”

He's a terrible influence.

I’ll try to remember to post the link when it goes live in the morning.

DLTTrading.com. They drop tomorrow morning (Friday the 15th) at 0900CST. Unlike Spyderco exclusive drops, I don’t expect these will sell out in minutes. You should have plenty of time to get one. Between these guys and St. Nicks Knives down in Huntsville, I don’t know that you’ll find nicer folks. Their customer service is great, and they’re just the salt of the earth.

Man, natural or red or both? Decisions, decisions

You’ve got it. Y’all will be in our prayers.

I’ve had my eye on one in natural micarta - the sheepsfoot seals the deal for me. On a similar note, this Smith and Sons lockback sod buster is one of my all time favorites. It’s only available every now and then, but if I was looking for a small knife, a sod buster profile would be in the running.

It’s not the cheapest knife out there - but this DLTTrading is probably going to get some of my money on Friday with this M390 Lionsteel run:

My favorite knife of late is a sprint run Spyderco Paramilitary 3 in M390 steel. I’ve got a bigger PM2 in the same steel and I simply cannot say enough good things about it. A good stropping is all it needs to maintain an edge. If the PM3 is too big, I’d probably go with a Delica.
