Your insulation was installed backwards. That is likely a large part of the problem.

Shotgun Sidesaddle - Brass Up or Brass Down
MacGyver replied to DBTN's topic in Training Discussions
I run the front two brass up for quick slug changeovers on my M4. Otherwise, it's brass down. -
I found it for sale down in Florida under a tree - my dad loaned me the $1500 I needed to buy it, and I worked all summer long to pay him off and get that thing back in good running order. I still miss that truck. Things I don't miss - having to yell at your date to have a conversation and continually smelling like exhaust. I'd straight out buy another truck with kick vents though.

1977 FJ40. Man, I loved that old truck.

As I get older, one of the things that impresses me the most is seeing people handle end of life care with integrity. It seems like y’all have really honored you mom at the end of her life - and have continued to do that after her passing. I’m certain she would be so proud.

OK, Where are the bigest Gun Shows?

It’s worth it to make the trip to Tulsa once. Leave your credit cards with someone else. -
This is great to hear.

In the Dark update: DA Doug Evans has recused himself from the case. We’ll see if the state decides to move forward or if they decide not to try a 7th time.

We enjoy the heck out of our 3D printer.

I found the syrup we have - I got it at a dirty Santa exchange: https://shopmadeintn.com/products/hales-smoked-hickory-syrup

I got some hickory syrup as a gift recently - and didn’t actually know that was a thing. But it’s delicious - especially in coffee or on ice cream. its got a nice smoky flavor.

Glad you got that squared away. That could have gone a lot worse. In case you weren’t already on blood thinners - bring a sweater.

Not a firearm - turn your 22 into a BB gun with Colibri
MacGyver replied to One1's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Semantics aside - you don’t want to find yourself in a position where you’re trying to explain this to law enforcement. And, note a serialed firearm is a firearm regardless of the projectile it’s firing. If you’re in a place where you can shoot air guns but not firearms, get an air gun. They make some great ones. Likewise, if you want to play with the Aguila primer only rounds, have a big time. Just clean your weapon well afterwards. Also note - there are questions about exactly what mix Aguila uses - but consensus is it’s dirty. Either make sure you’ve got great ventilation or use it outside. -
Sounds like a field trip to Mike’s house is in order.

Welcome to Tennessee!

I left it up earlier just to see where it went. They talk about how the internet has changed the world. But, this thread makes it clear that some folks probably ought to stay off of it.

Since it’s got more than one barrel, it falls under the definition of “volley fire” instead of a machine gun. While I’m a generally supportive of projects like this - just for fun from an engineering standpoint - I question whether poking the ATF with a stick is a good idea in our current climate.

I hope each of you find yourselves surrounded by those you love, and that this time is a time of peace and joy. I know for some of you that this is a tough time of year. Some of you are in this thread. The loss of those we’ve loved is tough. Know that I remember you, and have kept you in my prayers too. I wish each of you a Merry Christmas.

Kits like these are a great gateway into showing yourself that you can actually complete a project like this. Nice work. The first knife I did was with hand files and I jig I made, sandpaper, a torch and a rare earth magnet. It gave me the confidence to know I could it. I doubt it'll be your last knife.

FAL built exactly how I want it....Franken style!
MacGyver replied to xtriggerman's topic in Show and Tell
It’s great when you’ve got enough imagination, enough skill, and enough discretionary income to cool stuff. It also probably a benefit to not have to be overly concerned with screwing something up. Turned out great. -
Oh, and WNYC's Dolly Parton's America has been really enjoyable. The grace with which she speaks about Porter Wagoner in episode 2 really speaks to her character, I think.

In addition to In the Dark, two other podcasts were just honored with duPont Awards. All three are worth a listen. If you haven't listened to Michigan Radio's Believed - you should. It's a brutal story, but so important. It's a deep dive into the Larry Nasser case, and really shows how he groomed his victims - and everyone around him. Rachel Denhollander, speaking in episode 8 offers one of the most stunning statements forgiveness that I've ever heard. Finally, Bag Man - narrated by @Oh Shoot's main girl Rachel Maddow. This is a look into Nixon's vice president Spiro Agnew, and the case that was built against him forcing him to resign as Watergate was starting to boil over. If his name is unfamiliar to you, or you just thought him a casualty of Watergate - this podcast is really worth a listen.

Here’s yet another prompt to go listen to season 2 of In the Dark. Curtis Flowers walked out of prison on bail today. It’s as yet unknown whether the state will try him a seventh time. https://www.apmreports.org/story/2019/12/16/curtis-flowers-bail

That’s a nice find matching or not.
