  1. We’ve had some good luck trout fishing in the Harpeth this season on rooster tails. I’ve even caught a few in the creeks off the Cumberland of all places. Just be careful in the high water. We lost a prominent local business leader here in Nashville last weekend when he lost his footing fishing the Duck and got pinned under a tree.
  2. There are very few things I love more than some good high speed camera content. Those were interesting results. Cutting shape aside - what I really want is the one I have to change the least often.
  3. I’ve got the Dewalt flexvolt blower and trimmer. They’ll last longer with a 9ah battery than you will. I run a Ryobi 40v mower on my 3/4 acre lot. The 5ah battery is typically *just* enough. I bought an extra 2ah battery for when I’m slow. The Lithium ion batteries have a much better life cycle than the old NiCads. They’re typically rated to have at least 80% capacity remaining after 40 charges.
  4. Physics being physics, you should probably reasonably expect a .40 caliber pistol to wear faster than a 9mm. That said, if you put 35-40K rounds through one to accomplish that you've probably earned a new one.
  5. I think the KME is the best buy in the sharpening business. They make a great product that will sharpen everything you've got. If you're looking to spend a little less, a Spyderco sharpmaker and a decent strop will serve you well. Frankly, for S30V - so long as you're not abusive - you should be able to keep it popping sharp with a strop so long as you keep up with it.
  6. It makes me nervous every time one of those comes after my lure.
  7. Oh, I’m so sorry. Know that y‘all are in my prayers.
  8. I talked with the butcher not too long ago. The meat market is weird right now. He said they were over supplied on a lot of stuff and were grinding up nice steaks and turning them into ground beef.
  9. That is a Bowie straight up in the way James Black and Jim Bowie intended it.
  10. Yeah, all you need to do is visit some of our surrounding states to see how good we’ve actually got it with the TWRA. We’ve gotten some world class fisheries under their watch that didn’t exist 20 years ago.
  11. Sometimes it’s healthy to just take a break from things for a bit. I heard from him over the holidays, and he was doing fine.
  12. That’s a neat sheath.
  13. Solingen has been making great blades since the Middle Ages.
  14. I noticed it last week. Even up north of the bridge, there were a few that were a few hundred feet out of place. One in particular would have put you in knee deep water. Somebody must be moving them. Glad they’re being placed correctly.
  15. This is a good point - even if it's temporary while you run power. In the kayak, I run my 7" Elite Ti on a cheap 12v9AH battery and it'll last all day.
  16. Fishing cables through hulls is never fun. I wouldn't be surprised if that Lowe doesn't have a pull string already up there somewhere.
  17. I've been thrilled with Lowrance's Elite Ti series. Coupled with a TotalScan transducer - or whatever they're calling it now. It's been great. I only run one - but I've got a friend who runs a 12" in the cockpit and a 7" daisy chained up front. I've got one in my center console - and I like it so much I run one in my fishing kayak, too. My uncle runs Simrad - but he's got it hooked to one of those new MinnKota iDrive units. Since he fishes by himself a lot - he can get close to a start point - hit a button on his unit, and the trolling motor coupled with the GPS just takes him right down the path he's set up - maybe 50 feet of the bed at about a 1/2 mile an hour. He calls it the milk run.
  18. There are also financial advisors that you can pay on an hourly basis like you do other professionals. It's totally worth paying for a few hours of their time to help develop a plan for you and your spouse - and then maybe check in every so often or when something changes. Greg is right. There are low cost ETFs that are appropriate for most of the population. But, if you've got questions, there are options that don't involve putting all of your money with someone who may or may not have your best interests first.
  19. Lowe makes a great hull. They're super strong - and yet maintain the performance of a lighter boat. I hope it puts you on a ton of fish.
  20. More importantly, what kind of boat did you get?
  21. I found it - it's in the TWRA app on the register boat page: Following the Governor’s Executive Order, the TN Fish and Wildlife Commission has authorized Agency personnel to temporarily forgive those whose boats aren’t registered because of county office closures and the need to pay taxes on new boats. As such, it is advised that you keep a photo copy of your bill of sale in your vessel until such time that clerks reopen and taxes may be paid. This will allow you to present proof of ownership to an officer should you be stopped.
  22. I just renewed - and it took a couple of weeks. That's a hassle - sorry. TWRA has said in an email somewhere that they're giving some grace about stickers. I'll see if I can find it. It was frustrating that when I renewed, they changed my hull number - so new stickers.
  23. It looks like your gmail address is the one on file. Feel free to shoot me a note and I'll look into it.

    Good News

    Cool. Congrats!
  25. There’s a lipid(fat) layer that surrounds the virus. The ethanol in hand sanitizers - and soap as pointed out above - does a good job of breaking that down and killing the virus.
