Love this. That’s some great country out there. Congrats.

She had been released. We’re letting a lot of folks go home right now who we’d keep in normal times. These aren’t normal times. I’m prayerful for her.

Mike played Reagan’s inauguration back in the day. He toured with Tammy Wynette for years - but the list of musicians he worked with was ridiculous. Here was his short list: Alabama, Rodney Atkins, John Berry, Clint Black, Ace Cannon, Paulette Carlson, Mark Chestnutt, Earl Thomas Conley, Bobbie Cryner, Dixiana, Vern Gosdin, Faith Hill, George Jones, Frankie Lane, Johnnie Lee, Loretta Lynn, Ronnie McDowell, Lorrie Morgan, Wayne Newton, Ray Price, Bonnie Raitt, Eddy Raven, Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Russell, Dan Seals, Doug Stone, Mel Tillis, Pam Tillis, Randy Travis, Conway Twitty, Billy Walker, Keith Whitley, John & Audrey Wiggins, Maurice Williams, Chely Wright, Tammy Wynette

Y’all please keep his wife Lisa in your prayers. She’s not out of the woods yet either.

This is my favorite video of Mikey from a few years ago at the Musician’s Hall of Fame induction. You might recognize a few of the folks onstage with him - ZZ Top, Peter Framptom, Randy Bachman... His solos are at about 2:40 and again at 5:20. The whole thing is worth just great.

Y’all, I am broken hearted to report that our own, Michael Douchette, @Steelharplost his battle with COVID today. Mikey was a beloved member here going back almost as far as the forum itself. We shared meals together, many bought guns from him out at the shop where he worked, and he was just a joy of a person. If you’re a fan of country music, you’ve heard his work. He played pedal steel and dobro for just about everyone out there. His loss will be felt on the forum, and in this city. The world is less bright without him in it.

I've noticed we've been catching them a lot further down the Clinch these last few years than I would have expected in years past. We've got family with a place on the river around mile marker 52 between Clinton and Oak Ridge. We catch trout down that way all the time these days.

I got quite a few during the spring and summer up in the creeks around Ashland City just out fishing for panfish. It kinda surprised me. Late summer it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see them that deep just to get to some cooler, oxygenated water. We got into some Walleye like I've never seen out there one day this summer. They swam by just under the surface for at least 10 minutes. There were thousands of them. They were a lot of fun on the light tackle we were using that day. They really have cleaned that river up a lot since I've been in Nashville.

I've been surprised catching some trout in the Cumberland and near the mouth of the Harpeth in the last few years. I had no idea they were stocking there. A couple were really pretty decent sized fish.
-
Hang in there, Mikey. Hope your lungs are getting some strength back. Any news?
-
Thanks for attaching this - might plan some winter fishing. TWRA has really hit it out of the park with stocking and managing some world class trout streams these last several years. I'm happy to see my license fees support that.

No worries. Yes. Same on both ends.

No, most new monitors have a USB-C input. It’s a straight USB-C cable.
-
It looks like the current generation Spin laptops have a USB-C port. I'd try plugging the monitor in with a USB-C cable - and of course making sure that whatever monitor you get supports that. I don't know if you're getting out and about - but if I was comfortable masking up - it might be worth going and taking your laptop with you and plugging it in and seeing the results.

Not at all. I run two 4K monitors at their native resolution with a 2015 MacBook Pro. I think the issue you were experiencing with the text was that your monitor was at a higher resolution (4K) than your Samsung laptop could support via that HDMI cable (1080i?). It was doing it's best - but wasn't up to the task. I think if had you manually set the monitor's resolution lower, the issue would have gone away. I don't know what other display ports that Samsung has - I'll try to look at the specs today. I'm more familiar with the Mac end - and the MacBook Air can drive 2 4K monitors or one 5K monitor with no issue.

Yes, clamshell mode on the Mac is just plugging it in via the USB-C cable and leaving it closed while running an external keyboard and mouse and monitors. I've got essentially the same setup as TripleGGG - I just don't need the docking station since my keyboard and mouse are bluetooth connected and my monitors daisy chain off one another - so monitor two is plugged into monitor one which is plugged into my laptop.
-
I like big monitors - but you can scale down as fits the space: https://www.amazon.com/LG-32UN500-W-Compatibility-Virtually-Borderless/dp/B08FPLLX6Y/ You can also probably find a cheaper 4K monitor with all the Black Friday stuff - but this is a quality monitor - so is the 27".

I think the issue you experienced with fuzziness on the monitor with the Samsung is likely due to it not being able to drive a full 4K monitor well via an HDMI cable. I think you'd need to dial back the resolution. If the MacBook Air is a 2019 model - you've got a couple of Thunderbolt 3 ports - and that machine will drive at least 2 4K displays at a higher refresh rate than the Samsung would. Were it me, and I wanted to keep my total spend less than $1000, I'd buy a couple decent 4K monitors, an external keyboard and mouse - and just use it in clamshell mode. That way, you can run both monitors at a depth of field that suits you - and you don't have to worry about looking back from one screen at one resolution to the other. If you prefer Windows to MacOS, you could always install it via Bootcamp and even boot to Windows by default. Or, if you just want a Windows machine to boot as desired - you could do it like we do and run VMWare Fusion - at which point you can just run a Windows machine basically as an app.

That's a gen 2 rail. Is your charging handle ambidextrous? My gen 1 is not. It's kind of table stakes - but it's not unheard of to get a bad heat treat on a batch of pins.

I get out of my depth here pretty quickly - but one of the antibodies Immunoglobulin M develops very quickly after infection - but is not long lasting - maybe lasting weeks in the system. A second antibody immunoglobulin G develops later and is somewhat more durable and longer lasting - lasting months or years in some cases. It is still unknown as to what protection these antibodies will offer against reinfection. Because of the above questions as well as the chances for both false positives and even false negative in some cases, it’s generally recognized that a current Emergency Use Authorized serological test is more of a curiosity than an actual diagnostic test.
-
It depends on the assay used to some extent. This one required a full blood draw and tested IgM and IgG. I believe I had COVID back in February - two flu test were negative - but had all the other symptoms - thus the antibody test. The test came back negative. My doctor said that it would be highly unlikely to find antibodies after that period of time with COVID - but she wanted to see anyway.
-
I had the full brain probe test and the antibody test last week. I was so hopeful antibody test would come back positive.

What a cutie. Congrats!

I’ve got an Orvis 5-weight and a 9-weight that I’ve had since I was a teenager. There’s no telling how many fish those rods have caught in the streams and in the surf. There are some great makers these days - more so than the late 80’s when I was getting into the sport. But, I always have a soft spot for Orvis rods. Temple Fork Outfitters puts together some decent kits for a beginner that won’t break the bank. Probably with all the Black Friday sales you can find a good 5-weight kit that’ll serve for a bunch of years.
