  1. All the brentwood turkeys know *exactly* how long my dog’s leash is.
  2. ... and propane accessories.
  3. A Weber 3 burner would have absolutely been my choice had I gone with LPG.
  4. I wish the BGE folks would take a tip from Komodo Joe and upgrade to stainless hardware. Oh, and that rotisserie attachment is awesome. It’ll fit the egg too.
  5. Yeah, it weird. We all know that $99 charbroil is really going to disappoint you. I think the key to a gas grill in my mind - is that if they make much of anything besides grills - you should just move on. Or, you can think about it like this. Go down the grill isle at your local big box store or someplace like academy sports. Who do they stock replacement parts for? Weber will have a whole section - because they're meant for you to be able to replace parts on. Anything steel that goes through heat cycles like that is eventually going to rust. So, choose a maker that's going to let you replace those parts - preferably without having to special order them.
  6. I’ve always been a fan of Weber grills - and had a Genesis C model for 20 years. We entertain a lot - and there’s no telling how many thousand burgers I cooked on that grill. I replaced the internal diffusers and what not twice - but it was a great grill. At the end of its useful life, I wanted to buy another one, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. The steel tariffs added about $150 to the cost and I just couldn’t talk myself into it. I’m glad I didn’t. I’ve got a BIg Green Egg and use it a bunch, but wanted the convenience of a gas grill that you can just turn on and grill. My mind was made up for me when Lowe’s put their Pit Boss pellet grills on clearance last year. It’s not gas - but it’s just as easy - and you get that wood fired taste. What really sold me (other than the fact that it was about half the cost of the Weber) was the thickness of the steel, the obvious build quality, and how well thought out it was. Both Publix and Kroger carry multiple varieties of pellets, so I gave it a shot. I love just being able to turn it on and set the dial to anything from basically a cold smoke all the way up to 500F. I’ve smoked briskets for 14 hours and not needed to refill the hopper. I can’t say enough good things about it. This is the one I have: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Pit-Boss-Pro-Series-820-sq-in-Black-and-Chestnut-Pellet-Grill/1000601215
  7. Good looking knife.
  8. In Nashville, underground water is as big a as problem as the stuff on the surface. All the caves underground do weird stuff. We’ve got a room at church that will take on water if the Cumberland goes above a certain level - even though we’re miles from the river. A few years ago during a particularly heavy rain event, I drilled a hole in the concrete floor and water shot up like a fountain and hit the ceiling. You never want an engineer to look at your issue and say, “man, I have no idea. That really sucks.”
  9. Nashville did 130 swift water rescues last night. Four fatalities thus far - hopefully that’s it. I just got back from a friend’s house who got three feet in his lower level when the water table came up. Near his house, railroad ties had washed almost a half mile down from the tracks at Franklin Pike Circle.
  10. That was to the above comment about not really worrying about discussing plans like this on the open web due to using a VPN to reroute traffic.
  11. Just assume that your VPN isn’t really providing anonymity in 2021. It’s doing a lot - but when needed - there are multiple ways to hire out where and who you are.
  12. It’s thick. I have that same problem. I’ve got some that are 5 years old and have yet to poke a hole in them.
  13. I quit the he cargo shorts a few years ago, but while we’re plugging shorts, Howler Brothers Waterman’s Work Shorts are hands down the best shorts I’ve ever owned. I probably won’t ever buy anything else. https://howlerbros.com/products/watermans-work-shorts-s20?color=1 They're not inexpensive - but they’ve almost always got some of whatever last season’s colors are on sale. Four features I really like: They’re heavy weight - but still quick to dry The pliers pocket on the mid thigh is perfect for your phone - and actually is great for pliers if your fishing. The design of the front pockets makes it so your not going to lose the contents of your pockets when you sit down. The flap on the back pockets actually is an extension of the pocket - that when it folds over makes it so that you’re not losing anything there either. Oh, and they look great straight out of the dryer - which you might not care about - but ask your wife about those cargo short pockets.
  14. For what it's worth - from someone who does this for a living - the payoffs associated with examining your assumptions on this end of your decision making paradigm likely far outweigh worrying about how to hide your stuff.
  15. Third option. From someone who’s been somewhere pretty close to where you sit - figure out a path to transition to something outside of the company while you still have options. It’s not worth the toll it takes on your soul.
  16. If you're wanting real internet - getting within the service range of EPB in Chattanooga is about your most reliable bet. I've got people in Oak Ridge who have reasonable internet - but it's nothing to write home about.
  17. Not to mention pointing out your hiding spot. A tablespoon of oil is enough to cover most farm ponds. I can only imagine what 11 gallons would do. You’d need more than guns once the EPA got wind of that spill.
  18. Memphis is doing something right. You don’t here people from New York or California or Colorado saying, “you know, I think I’m gonna move to Memphis.” Could be a br’er rabbit sort of thing, I guess. I am, and will remain long on the place.
  19. Heck, at this point they're probably ready to be done with us, too.
  20. We're going to start blowing the bridges any day now...
  21. We always search the pond.
  22. I knew someone who had something similar - I'm not sure if it was this one exactly. It changed the pattern of the shot stringing as the barrel heated up. I wouldn't say it improved accuracy much. This was on one of the old straight barreled ones - not one of the newer tapered barrels. At the end of the day, you're changing the barrel harmonics - but I don't think that's really correcting the problem inherent with those barrels getting hot.
  23. The whole thing on ITAR/NV is suspect at best. But it’s one of those things you don’t really want to test - especially over the last few years. I’ve never thought about whether ITAR applies to foreign made tubes. I mean you want to stay away from the old Soviet era ones that’ll burn your retinas out. But the new Russian ones that frankly already show that ITAR needs to be overhauled are pretty decent.
  24. I think it’s kind of like shooting with a suppressor. Once you’ve done it - especially with a nocturnal creature like a pig - there’s no going back to how it was before. It seems like it’s a pretty sizable lift to get started though.
  25. That’s a blade I could get behind.
