Even though I've seen Mr. Kloos's article several times over the years, it's always worth a read. Good post.

That's a cool site

This has been pretty under-reported, but is a significant victory for the Students for Concealed Carry. From yesterday's Denver Post:

Coke from some place like McDonalds or Chik-fil-a that has good ice and turns the carbonation up just a little higher than normal. good stuff.

Nice progress. congrats. Enjoy that lunch.

Thanks for that good review

Thanks for posting these Todd. Really enjoyed the class.

This seems akin to the "use a bigger hammer" school of thought, and I think may be not just untrue, but dangerous. If your gun is dirty, wet, or your form is not up to par (linp wristing, improper grip, whatever), +p ammunition is only going to exacerbate the issue. Just because the round is higher pressure and "may" cycle the slide faster doesn't mean that it's a magic bullet. If you've got issues with your form, or a poorly maintained weapon, +p is going to cause more issues than it solves. In fact, I can think of at least a few modern weapons that don't function particularly well on +p, period. The XD in 45 has a stock magazine spring that doesn't particularly like them. It's not strong enough to get a new round up before the slide cycles, causing significant issues for some users.

Who here has had a carry permit the longest?

I used to advocate this as well, but can't anymore. Since April 15th is now a complete payday for over half of the electorate, it wouldn't work in our favor. I've since modified my thoughts on the matter. While I would love to see term limits put in place, none of our politicians are going to vote for that. You thought they went against their constituents on health care, this vote would put that to shame. I think we should simply make it so that if a politician loses an election, they leave Washington and report to the nearest federal penitentary to start serving their sentence. I think this would solve a lot of our problems.

That's awesome. That happened to me one time in Seattle. I didn't know what to make of it. When the guy on the phone realized I thought he was talking to me, he was flustered so bad he accidentally dropped his phone in the head. Serves him right for talking on the phone in there.

I run a Tactical Solutions upper on a dedicated lower and love it. I have roughly 3500 rounds through it and shoot with it every time I go to the range. It is a fun plinking gun, but I also have it set up exactly the same as my 5.56, so the operation and manual of arms is the same. I have had occasion to use Tactical Solutions' service and warranty, and they were outstanding. Lon Tuttle, the president of the company personally got back with me on a reliability question I had, and after hearing what was going on, went the extra mile to ship me a new generation bolt carrier group, make sure that the issue was fixed, that I was happy, and that it was 100% reliable with the ammo I was shooting. All of this, mind you was in response to a relatively minor issue that other manufacturers would have just said, "shoot it some more and see if it clears up". Fit and finish are great as well.

Todd and Dustin ran a spectacular class this weekend. The weather was perfect, and they covered a ton of material in two days. Whether you consider yourself an expert, a beginner (as a friend of mine in the class was) or somewhere in the middle, there was a lot to be learned in this class. They keep the class size small to be able to spend time one on one with you, and you may as well be the only one there. If you bring the right attitude to the class, you will find plenty to work on, and what the guy next to you is doing doesn't matter. I personally found I have a lot of scars that hold back my shooting. I may be able to put rounds on target, but by focusing on fundamentals and concentrating on those individual actions, I can be a lot more efficient and a lot faster. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to be a better shooter.

When I was a kid we would put a smoke bomb in one end of the hole and wait for them at the exit hole with the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster -

I was going to ask if the fabled fire breathing pig was adjustable. I guess it's not? -

That's a great idea. I've never had issues, but I worry about it. -
Congratulations. It will change your life.

And I would give at least $5 to see someone try it.

I've had a couple of pairs over the years, and tried to like them, but just haven't for multiple small reasons. The primary reason was that after wearing the for several hours the temples were really uncomfortable. They weren't bad, but they weren't great. I love the Natives I have right now. Like costa, their warranty is lifetime, no questions asked. I have had opportunity to use it, and they not only solved the claim to my satisfaction at the time, but several months later sent me a completely new pair of sunglasses and two pairs of lenses when they came out with an updated model. I surf, bike, shoot and drive in the same sunglasses. Their quality and customer service have made a lifetime customer out of me.

I'm in of course. Say $50.

They make one specifically for animals. Costco had it last time we were in there.

Did they have heaters?

You need a Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner as well. After going through three other vacuums in a year with our black lab, the Dyson is amazing. Since the container on the vacuum is clear, it looks like you've sucked up a whole dog every time you vacuum - which is multiple times a week in our case.

In case I sounded harsher than I intended, please don't take my above comments as a personal attack on you or your position. That was certainly not my intention. A lot of people make the case that you do, and in a lot of those cases, I might be inclined towards the more libertarian view of things. This isn't one of them, though. This guy screwed us all.

Here's the thing that makes it a big deal, though. In his selfishness, he put his vice above his job. He may have never been under the influence on the job. I hope he wasn't. But, by partaking he opened himself up to influence. That is, someone could have found out about it, and blackmailed him with it. As a forensics professional, you are held to a high standard for a reason. We get on the stand, give the facts that we found, and are more often than not asked to interpret them. Our interpretations go into the record just like the cold hard facts. If someone used this guy's drug use against him, he could have adjusted both his findings and his interpretation in cases he worked. That is why this has me so mad. It doesn't matter whether he was ever under the influence or not. Because of his selfishness, people who deserve to be in jail for crimes they committed will have their counsel reopen their cases. People will walk because of this. He knew better. And think about your last statement. Are the NFA laws stupid? Yes. But we all play by them and understand the ramification for not doing so. Are drug laws stupid? You might be able to argue against them. Maybe. Perhaps you can put marajuana in a different class than heroin or meth? I don't know. But I do know, that anyone who grows, buys or consumes marajuana in the US does so with the full knowledge that it is illegal, and has consequences if you get caught. You might not agree with the law. But you still have to play by it - just like we do with the NFA rules. I don't think anyone here is slamming Dr. Levy for his choice of vices. I think they are slamming him for his stupid decision to partake in his position.
