  1. That's where our opinions are different. I have no doubt that some of our politicians do in fact hold the Constitution in some contempt. I know that there are a few more, maybe a growing number, who think that somehow we have 'evolved'. That our Constitution was a great document to get us started, but we need something different now. Same thing with Capitalism. They think that it was necessary for a while, but now somehow we've evolved and need a more 'fair' socialist system. I don't think these represent the majority, though. Rather, I think the terrible position we find ourselves in today is often the result of career politicians who couldn't begin to tell you what was in the Constitution beyond the First Amendment - and they might mangle that. Unfortunately, we don't require our elected officials to pass an eighth grade civics test before they are sworn in. They take the oath, but it's simply a precursor to eating cake and drinking punch. They don't really understand what that oath means.
  2. You guys should really take a moment to think about the implications of something like that. What happens when you are on the side of dissent? What happens when your law is voided and thus considered Unconstitutional on "vagueness"? I'm all for getting better bills out there, but jailing people with dissenting opinions isn't the way to do it. Our country was in a sense built on dissent. We're big enough to handle it. Take a bill like this "healthcare" bill making its way through the courts. Our forefathers gave us a system of checks and balances for that reason. Now we're going to see some of those checks play out. Don't neglect the fact, however that we as individuals are the linchpins in the process. If you think your elected official or all elected officials are that corrupt, work to get them out of there. Don't just vote for someone else and hope other people do the same. Hold their feet to the fire. Publicly. Make them earn the right to represent us, and then make sure that they continue to do so.
  3. Hear, hear.
  4. Judge Hudson touched on the lack of a severability clause in his comments. He didn't seem to think it was a problem, but I'm sure we'll see other litigation over it. Having the individual mandate ruling upheld by the SCOTUS would essentially kill the whole thing. If they can't require everyone to get in the pool, then the bill literally falls apart.
  5. I agree with LumberJack. It looks like your surface wasn't prepped appropriately before coating, and is now coming off.
  6. I would be hesitant to get one. It's a cool concept, but hopefully these guys are well read on the history of the Akins Accelerator. The BATFE can reverse their decision without reprocussion and make a lot of people's investment illegal overnight.
  7. That sounds great to me, Billy. Thanks for doing the legwork on this.
  8. Nice! If you're new to carbines, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of magpul's Art of the Dynamic Carbine. It will do two things for you. One, it will take the edge off learning the basics. And two, it will truly convince you to go out and really get some training on the platform.
  9. I think this first run is pretty well locked in. From what I've heard, they did 250 serial numbered limited editions, and then took preorders from their dealers. That will represent the first run, and may be the last for a while. I've seen pictures of the production pieces, and had heard they were really happy with Lion Steel. For future runs, I could see them bringing it stateside. I'm hoping to see it in the next week or so. I think RYP would have let us know if something was affecting delivery. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
  10. Nice! I saw a few people getting their 0551s this week. Hopefully H.E.S.T.s are shipping by the end of the week.

    Nice. Who made them?
  12. Ryan makes some great hawks! Nice score.
  13. Could be the lube you were using. Different viscosity at lower temperatures slowing things down?
  14. +1 on the carbine for home defense. My pistol is intended to be used for fighting my way back to a better weapon.
  15. I'm pretty sure we can hear those old Soviet Whiskey classes they're using when they start them up in Mayang-do.
  16. It's funny how some people insist on setting themselves on fire. Despite your best efforts to blow out the matches as they light them. Maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere.
  17. I'm not going to read 39 pages of this. I don't care enough. I will remind everyone of the rules of conduct. Make your point respectfully and without the use of slurs. There's no need for that, and I have no tolerance for it.
  18. My experience was that you really have to piss a brown or black bear off to get it to attack you. At least for bears that haven't been hooked on the refined sugars in our foods anyways. Best practice is to make yourself as big and as loud as you can. This should at least slow them down, if not scare them off completely. That'll give you some time to think about, and make ready your next option.
  19. We surprised one once. We came around the side of our station after draining some pasta in our sump. He was on our front porch thinking about inviting himself in for spaghetti. Most bears really are more scared of you than you are them, and this one lept from our porch to a midsize pine tree a few meters from the porch. He took every branch out of the tree on his way up. Afterwards, it looked like a telephone pole. For such a large animal, he could climb remarkably fast. All of this reminds me of an old ranger joke. How do you tell the difference between a black bear and a brown bear? You run up and kick it, then climb a tree. If it comes up the tree after you to get you, it's a black bear. If it pushes the tree over to get you, it's a brown bear. Be safe on the trail. Use a bear bag. Make sure to include your toothpaste in your smellables.
  20. From experience, a brown bear tops out at just over 31mph. That's faster than an Olympic sprinter. When they get irritated win you, they can knock down a 8 inch Aspen tree with one hit - just to make sure you know that they're strong, too They really like barbecued pork chops. A tranquilizer dart will take a five hundred pound bear down for five hours. It will do that within five seconds. You really need to remember the first two points above when you are shooting at one. A problem bear that has been captured and relocated can cover 150 miles in a 24 hour period. Did I mention how much they like pork chops. And chocolate cake. When a problem bear that you have previously relocated invites itself in for dinner the next day, it is completely acceptable to move the rest of the meal from the table to the rafters in the ranger station.

    G19 question

Love the mag release. Was amped up about the interchangeable backstraps as well - the stock one actaully fits my hand best, though. I'm running TrueGlo TFO's on it as well. I've got to say that I absolutely love them so far. They are unbelievable in both broad daylight and darkness.

    G19 question

That was the one. I like the Gen4 grip enough that I haven't stippled it, yet. May in the future, though.

    G19 question

I've got 400 rounds through a Gen4 G19 that I bought after firing Todd's prior generation G19 earlier this year. With a mix of 300 WWB 115gr and 100 147gr Federal HSTs, I have not had a single issue with mine. I couldn't be happier with it.
