Good episode. Tim is my favorite character on the show - glad he shot Doyle. It was good to see a reconciliation with Art/Raylan, too. Even if they didn't have words, Art came to help him out.

I carried an LCP daily for about a year. I recently gave it up and went back to a j-frame, specifically a M&P 340CT. It's a bit lighter than the LCR, and is rated for .357. I've fired the TCP, but frankly would never trust the one I fired for carry. It was picky about ammo and was temperamental about ejecting spent brass. In the box of rounds I put through it, I averaged one issue per magazine. I know some people like them. I'm not one of them. In pocket carry, a proper holster makes all the difference. Lack of one that really fit both me and the pistol was the reason I gave up the LCP. In experimenting with several holsters, I couldn't find one where I could get a full firing grip while the pistol was still in my pocket or that I didn't have to readjust my grip after drawing it. Both of these are critical issues to me, and relegated the LCP to a range gun. Other people may have a different experience. I'm 6'0" and 150lbs, and usually carry in jeans. The j-frame in an aholster is a different story. It conceals well, you can get a full firing grip, and the draw is seamless. The pistol comes out ready to go. The holster stays put.

There are some good bots, but as a general rule, there's someone particular who is responsible. If I remember when I'm back in the lab later this week, I'll post some stats. Heart of the matter is that these attacks keep happening because they work about 1.5% of the time. Check out 419eater.com. These are guys who play along and string them along to keep them from targeting your grandmother.

I don't think open carrying will affect it much. The damage has already been done. If you get into an altercation that gets the cops called and you get arrested, they're going to find your weapon. It's going to be an issue, and will likely be held against you by the state. If you're carrying a weapon, you have a burden to behave better than everyone else. You have to take the high road even when it may be personally humiliating to do so. If you're not willing to do this, I'd argue that you haven't thought your responsibility all the way through, and have no business carrying a weapon. You are not an asset to yourself or society. You are a liability. To the OP, good luck. It's probably worth discussing the situation with counsel at some point, as the situation as you described it seems peculiar. Even so, it also sounds like you have some growing to do before you strap on a weapon again.

Have you seen where the school bus stops lately? I remember walking to the bus stop and waiting out in the rain and cold with my friends as a kid. No more. Lord help you if you get stuck behind a bus in the morning in our neighborhood. They stop at every other house. These kids may as well have their own car service. If you're including bus stops, you won't get outside of a 1000' radius in Nashville. I expect this applies to other major cities as well.

I only saw the finale this season, and only then caught it because I walked in when my wife was watching it. I liked the Gunny's comment at the end about a Gunny being beaten by a old Lance Corporal. Give credence to the Marine's saying that every Marine is a rifleman.

I've tried it a time or two. The old Eagle Scout in me will try just about any method to start a fire. My life has been saved at least once by being able to get a fire going quickly while in the field. Accidents happen. I carry a lighter in my pocket and a mischmetal rod around my neck every day. People look at me like I'm crazy, but I'm here today because I carry a knife that can do big boy work and a way to start a fire. Like many things in life, success here favors the prepared. You're going to have to make sure that your tinder bundle is very well prepared. Dump your powder out on a log and ignite it, and you'll get a blackened log you can look at as you go to meet the reaper. You are going to need a lot of fine grain surface area for the powder to ignite it appropriately. Make sure your fire lay is pretty well prepared before you ignite your tinder, and it will work just fine.

Last night's episode was good. Season finale next week looks great. I don't know that they'll do better than last season, but I'm hopeful. Any guesses on who's going to shoot Doyle next week when he gets the drop on Raylan?

Might not get picked up by the language filter, but any reference to him will definitely hit the heresy filter and is subject to immediate bansihment. I would look to recant immediately. This is roughly analogous to saying that JMB would have used pink polymer were it available at the time.

The language filter here is based on the 1603 King James. This takes into full account the Apocryphal works which were later dropped from the canon during a turf war. As such the aforementioned usage of the term "ass" will not trigger a reprisal unless it is determined that the poster was acting like an ass as opposed to referring the to hooven creature of biblical reference.

Great find! I had a friend find a bunch a few weeks back. Wild mushrooms always scare me to death. Even when I know they're safe. I always think - if you eat those, you'll need a liver transplant and likely be dead by morning.

I'd love to see some real competition come out for Intuit. I use three of their products, QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax. They come out with a new version every year, but have really failed to innovate because of the lack of competition in that space. Really, the last major thing that happened was their acquistion of Mint.com, and nothing has come from that. There's a lot of money to be made in that space. Somebody needs to get in there and innovate!

I can say this because I've got one. I think the only take down that was meant to happen to these weapons was "Take it down to the river and throw it in". Numrich does have most of the parts for them.

Our political system is a zero sum game. What is good for one party must be bad for the other, and thats all they care about. "We the people" quit mattering at all a long time ago. Until we take back the system by kicking them all out and reminding them that they work to serve us, either party will sell us down the river in a heartbeat if it suits their mood.

If you go, try Barbaresco at 64th and Lexington. It's a small family restaurant where they have brought over more of their family from southern Italy as they have become more successful. Everything is homemade in house, and is excellent. Make sure to try the ravioli special and the tiramisu.

I spent 9 months at Ground Zero after being in 1WTC the morning of September 11. While there is a lot that's wrong with New York, it's a great town that everyone should experience at least once. All in all, you're probably safer walking the streets of New York City at any time of day than you are walking the streets of downtown Nashville or in your case Raleigh. There are simply a lot more people out and about at all hours of the day and night. In the couple of years that I've spent in New York I can't recall a single incident of being solicited by a panhandler or feeling unsafe - even without a firearm. Go and enjoy it. They've got some great museums and some great food. It's worth a visit.
