  1. This one isn't cheap, it's around $20, but it rides around my neck every day. nanoSTRIKERâ„¢ - $26.95 : EXOTAC, Outdoor Gear The only tradeoff with mischmetal is that you need a good edge to drive the spark.
  2. Can't recommend them highly enough. I'm proficient with a firesteel. If it can burn, I can light it. That said, my 4 year old daughter and I just did a series of experiments comparing a couple best-in-breed fire steels with a mischmetal rod. We tested paper flat, paper bundled, grass, leaves, dryer lint and cotton balls. In every category, the mischmetal started the fire with fewer strikes - usually by a factor of five. It's really like driving a pool of molten metal into your tinder as opposed to just sparks.
  3. Awesome, Bronker! Never too late to take some time for your most important patient. You're useless to your family, friends and patients if you're dead! As a runner, if I can be of use to you in putting a training regimin together, let me know.

Apple controls the prices across all retail points. One place is the same as any other. Apple store, Best Buy, Wal-Mart will all have the same price. Apple store is probably most likely to have inventory.
  5. Sounds like you need a better holster. There are some great ones out there. I'm 6'0" and 145, and yet I'm concealing a Kimber Warrior today under a t-shirt. I have been out amongst the unwashed masses a lot today, as every day, and can't ever recall being made. Remember, when you carry, you represent all of us.
  6. The Paclite upper is a whole different experience. I'd recommend it to anyone.
  7. I never skated as a kid, but my wife bought me a caster board about 6 months ago. My first though was that she was trying to collect my insurance money. But, after trying it, I'm hooked. Cruising on this board is a ton of fun. It feels like you're on a surfboard, but turns like a snowboard. I'm looking at picking up a good longboard when the right deal comes along.
  8. Nice!
  9. sure. post the link.
  10. My wife's pretty lethal with a badminton racket. Chops 'em in half with a good swing.
  11. Look at the top right of the screen under premium memberships. Benefactor status is available for six months or a year, which will allow you to post items for sale. It's probably one of the simplest ways out there to sell a weapon.
  12. You pay the tax stamp for each transfer of ownership, so to transfer it to the trust, it would cost you another $200.
  13. Yep, trust comes first, as the trust is the actual owner of the item. We've got a couple of good vendors on here who can help you out.
  14. I don't know how I've missed them over the years. Forget Franklin Gun Shop. Go to Guns & Leather!
  15. Franklin Gun Shop is the only stocking GemTech dealer in middle Tennessee that I know of.
  16. There are some good reasons to do an 80% build: 1. Enjoyment of doing something yourself. Sometimes the process of doing something is as much fun as having the finished product. 2. Gunsmithing in any form is a good skill to have. 3. You can give the man the proverbial finger by having a rifle that doesn't have a matching 4473 on file somewhere.
  17. I've got plenty of carpenter bees. You'd see me on the evening news if I tried this here in Nashville. I guess this is one of the many benefits of living outside of city limits.
  18. When the time comes to buy, I may take you up on that.
  19. I was really surprised by both how smooth and quiet it was. I like the idea of a shorter bow in the woods. I'm literally coming from an old recurve bow, so I feel like I'm in totally uncharted territory.
  20. I didn't know they were making the drum mags! That looks like a great way to blow some ammo.
  21. Last time I bought ammo in Florida, they asked about 5 or 6 questions, the last of which was, "Are you currently mad at anyone?" I wanted to reply that I wasn't when I came to the register, but was starting to get that way. I needed the ammo, so I just answered no. Funny thing is trying to buy .22LR ammo in a Wal-Mart where they ask if it's for a handgun or rifle. Answer that it's for a rifle and you can buy at 18, answer that it's for a handgun and you have to be 21. It's hard protecting people from themselves.
  22. It's not a Wal-Mart fee, it's a state tax. If you look, there's a $0.10 stamp on the box. They're supposed to check if you're over 21 to buy handgun ammo per store policy. Some do, some don't.
  23. I'm thinking about a Z7 Xtreme. My bow experience is pretty limited, and the bows I've had in the past have been significantly longer than the Xtreme's 28". I shoot it well, and am comfortable with it, but would appreciate the thoughts of some our more experienced bow shooters.
  24. Does it go a third season? What do you guys think? There is still some storyline there, especially with Boyd. I hate it, however when a series tries to milk a good thing for too long, ala the X-Files. I would much rather see some of these smaller cable networks say, "We're going to take 13 or 26 episodes, a bunch of mostly unknown actors, tell a perfect story, then call it a day." You could do some pretty cool stuff, and maybe start to capture some ground back from the big networks and the reality TV debacle.
