Maybe someone could teach him how to do a proper press check. I mean, even if you are going to pull the trigger and have a negligent discharge, there's no reason to go and blow your pinkie off.

I left with a couple subdued flag patches and a pack a stripper clips. I would have counted it a bust had my last stop not been over at David's reloading table. If you need anything reloading related, you need to stop by and see him. He's a great resource!

This forum is worth something for two reasons: First, David puts a lot of time into making sure it runs, and runs well. This thing isn't sitting on a $4.95/month shared hosting server. Second, the community here is pretty good at policing itself. As mods, we really don't have to do that much cleanup. When a member reports a post, we see it and if warranted, do something about it. But, this community is pretty good at recognizing that the code of conduct is here for a reason, and the community is better for it. I always find it funny that some of the people who like to bash the community the most turn around and expect something to be given to them in return. I would guess if you polled most of our members and asked, "Was your benefactor membership worth it?". Forget supporting the site. Just simply, were you able to sell your item conveniently, quickly and for a fair price? An overwhelming majority would say yes. That's worth something to me.

I am interested, though. I want to know who includes the feature.

Tap and rack is my default, too. I'd rather go right to fixing the problem as opposed to hoping it works a second time. Someone in this thread once said that, "if your weapon malfunctions in a fight, you've got the rest of your life to fix it." I go for the fix. The more I have thought about the multiple strike feature today, the more I don't like it. I know the reason for it on the P99 AS. It's to pacify some police departments. You've got a long heavy pull when it has been decocked, or a short light pull when the striker has been charged. Best of both worlds. I can't see it being useful other than maybe plinking and having a round fail to detonate. I guess you could try again.

Apparently Taurus is really touting the feature in their new stuff. The 709 slim has it. As does the PT145

Not even the early ones? Hmm. Learn something every day. I would have sworn that was one of the hyped features when they were first introduced. Thanks. Now I'm actually going to have to research which weapons are multiple strike capable. I really didn't think I cared this morning, but now I want to know.

We used to walk in from the rest stop on I-40. Call to see when the dam is generating. The water comes up quick.

I love a good 9-weight throwing flies for bonefish down in the Keys. Nothing hits quite like a bonefish. My uncle has a stocked lake on his property down in Valdosta, GA. I don't know what he feeds those fish, but I've barely ever even had a fly touch the surface before something hits it.

That's what I get for typing while I was on the phone. I meant XD and typed M&P. Though I think it's only a couple of the XDs. Corrected above.

There aren't a lot of striker fired guns with decockers that I can think of - maybe some of the Taurus 24/7 line. I'm sure there are others, I'll have to think about it. I'm sure someone else will chime in. The ability to do multiple strikes without racking the slide isn't that common. I think you can do it with the some of the XD series weapons, and maybe a few Tauruses. I like the feature, but don't train using it. Since I carry other weapons that don't have the functionality, my malfunction clearance drills don't include an extra pull of the trigger - I go straight to a tap, rack, bang.

I was planning on going to the show at the fairgrounds this weekend to pick up some reloading supplies anyway. I'll look for him.

And, a feature I've always like on the pistol is that field stripping a P99 does not require you to pull the trigger. You only need to depress the decocker.
-
Yeah, standard contemporary firing pin block.

I loaded up my P99 with a new dummy round last night and tried umpteen ways from Friday to get it to fire out of battery. I routinely carry one that has more than 5000 rounds through it. If it might fire out of battery, I might like to know about it. Mechanical stuff can break, but I sure couldn't replicate it. The only way my weapon fires is when the trigger is pulled. That said, the P99 is different from many striker fired weapons in that the slide does not have to cycle to charge the striker. You can use the decocker to unload the striker, and then decide you want to pull the trigger. You'll have a heavier trigger pull, but one pull of the trigger results in one instance of the the striker firing- whether you've previously racked it or not.

What the.... I could get two Benelli M4 boxes for the price of your Saiga box. Plus, I hear the Saiga boxes are really tempermental pieces of junk that won't stay shut. So, I'm not really interested, I just want to impart my expertise on your commie box pricing and beat you up in your own thread. I'm done here. I've got to get back to reading my friend's uncle's blog. And it's Friday, so we're playing bingo after craft time.
-
Has there been an opinion rendered on whether the boxes can still be imported? My neighbor's mom's aunt says there is no real sporting purpose to them. I disagree, though. A kid up the street chopped one of the boxes up, made some mods and rode it down the stairs. It sure looked sporting to me!
-
Interesting. I'll have to pick one up. Might be handy to throw in the kit.
-
They do need a sharp edge. I've gotten to where I can do it with less, but you have to be very deliberate.

So, are those fingers holding the rod a little flexible to keep from profiling?

I should be the to pick up some 147gr and powder

Wallet iPhone Weapon (s&w m&p 340CT) in an Aholster pocket holster Knife (HEST folder) Small multitool (gerber tool clip) Small flashlight (maratac aaa - amazing!) Lip balm (burt's beeswax if you must know) Fisher Space pen Keys Zippo lighter with a butane insert Watch Around my neck is an Atwood prybar and an Exotac mischmetal Micro fire starter. Also a dog tag with my vitals in case I get hit on a run or on my bike. With the exception of my weapon and my lighter I use everything in my pockets just about every day. My 2 and 4 year old daughters would use the firestarter every day if I would let them. My two year old loves nothing more than when I let her wear it. Luck favors the prepared.
