1. Yeah, let me know. I'm interested and expect I will likely go ahead and pick one up when I get the opportunity.
2. Let me know how you like this thing, Steve. I've been looking at it for a while with interest, but just have trouble these days getting behind a Leatherman product. I can't think of a knife maker that I go back to more often, but in which I am constantly being disappointed. I have broken more Leathermans over the years than I can remember (with the exception of a Wave). I really wish they would get away from using cheaper "cast" parts from inferior metal on pieces that aren't the blade. Both Leatherman and Gerber could improve so much by cutting down on the sheer number of new models they introduce every year and really concentrating on quality. That said, tell me how you like it when you get it. A good, hard use review from you will pass muster with me.
3. Well...just to be fair...
4. I've heard some really good things about 338 Norma! So long as you have the ability/willingness to take care of it and feed it without a lot of outside support, I'd go for it.
5. I like your thinking, but I'll add a couple of points. First, even when fired out of a carbine, a .40S&W round is still a pistol round. There's a gap between that and a rifle round. Even a 5.56 round. Having a carbine in a rifle caliber makes a lot of sense when you're only going to have one rifle. Second, while I'm a fan of the pistol caliber AR's a lot of manufacturers don't seem to have them all the way dialed in. A lot of them require tweaking to really run correctly. While this is frustrating in a day-to-day environment. It could be limiting/deadly in a SHTF/TEOTWAWKI environment. Third, since you stated that cost is an issue, you're buying a lot of specialized components in most pistol caliber ARs - new BCG, buffer, barrel or upper, etc... You could probably shop around a little bit and have a decent 5.56 carbine for half of what you'll spend on the pistol caliber carbine. All that said, I like PCCs, own and shoot them. But, even if my 9mm AR were sitting right next to a 5.56 in a life or death situation, I'd almost always grab the 5.56 first. If you decide to go this route, then have fun with it. Make sure you spend the time to get your weapon dialed in to ensure its reliability, and then get some training with it. There's no reason this setup couldn't work well within its limits.
6. It's great to see you on, Marshall! You've been in my prayers. I was just thinking about you yesterday, wondering how things were going and hoping for the best.
7. That pretty much sums it up
8. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and am pretty impressed.
9. The OP has asked that this thread be closed. While I generally don't like to close threads like this one, it doesn't seen like anything particularly new is going to be said that hasn't already. If someone wants to debate the serving process, debt collection or anything else, start a thread in the general off-topic section. As most here have pointed out, it doesn't really matter how big of a fool someone makes out of themself on your front porch. If you're behind closed doors, so long as they stay outside you're likely going to be the one in trouble if you escalate the situation. When you strap on a weapon, you immediately either become an asset to society or a liability. Likewise, your actions represent all of us. While I'd like to think that one day that won't be the case, as it stands today if one permit holder/gun owner does something stupid, we all get painted with the brush that colors them.
10. I went for reloading supplies, and was not disappointed. David is always great to deal with. The three others I went with all left with something. Not the greatest show, but one of the better recent Goodman shows I've been to.
11. A bunch of vendors, our own David included are refunding parking when you spend $50. If you're just going to look and don't mind a short walk, feel free to park at our church up the street. Acklen Avenue Church of Christ. 900 Acklen Ave. Parking lot is on the Wedgewood side.
12. I'll go ahead and throw out that the candidate who owns and shoots a suppressed carbine on a regular basis at least has my attention:
13. Hmm. It sure seems closer. Offer stands.
14. If anyone wants to walk about half a mile, you cam feel free to park at our church. Acklen Avenue Church of Christ. 900 Acklen Avenue. Parking lot is off Wedgewood.
15. Yep, I'm going to get some supplies from David, too. I'll probably go early.
16. Yeah, me too...in limited doses. I get it, I guess. If I was in debt up to my eyeballs and you gave me some steps to get out of it, I'm probably going to keep listening to what you say. It doesn't matter that his steps should be obvious to the casual observer and you should have learned them in elementary school. He keeps it simple and people can follow him. I'd let him head up a "deficit reduction" committee in Congress in a heartbeat.
17. Now that's funny! My cult alarm was ringing earlier and I jumped the gun. I've been in a call center when he endorses a product on his show. It's unreal to watch the phones light up. I really respect the guy, and love the fact that he views it as a mission. That said, I'm not drinking any kool-aid at a live event. Rick Perry is a conservative's conservative. I wouldn't make too much of him being from Texas. The Bush family has campaigned pretty hard against him in the past. That may be because they viewed him as a future Jeb contender. I do like his 10th amendment views!
18. Nice work! That makes my whole afternoon.
19. Edit...wrong ramsey
20. Me too. Looks like I'm traveling this season. Anybody got any suggestions?
21. What a great story!
22. Kids do stupid stuff. Making stupid decisions is part of growing up, and I might argue it's nececssary for learning. I expect everyone here has made their share. It's unfortunate that some stupid decisions have such consequences. As the father of two daughters, I can tell you that there is no stupid decision my kid can make that will make me stop loving them. And while you do have to worry about a lot more stuff when raising girls, it's worth it. No one will ever love their dad quite like their daughter. That said, Lord help those guys if that were either of my daughters.
23. Has the state extended the contract with the group that was attempting helicopter eradication flights that at $10,000/flight that they were doing earlier this year?
24. Once you shoot the M4, you'll realize that you have everything you need in a shotgun.
25. Per then commandant of the Marine Corps, General Robert Barrow to Ronald Reagan in 1981 when the modern tradition of Presidents returning salutes started, the POTUS as CINC is entitled to offer a salute to anyone he wishes. While I may disagree with the President on most issues, I have no doubt he was sincere here. I imagine combat deaths are responsible for any President's graying hair. Besides, his salute is a lot better than Bill Clinton's was.
