I encrypt my files locally before backing up to the cloud. When I'm not on my mobile, I'll be happy to post more.

Depending on your intent, that's something to think about. I personally like having a top notch 1911 with which I have a personal relationship with the builder, who's here in Tennessee, and who I know will absolutely stand behind his work. I consider it an heirloom piece that I'll pass down. I've had several older family members try to lay claim to it should I ever die an untimely death.

I'll get some pictures up in the next day or so. Jeff is a member here (JeffM), and will work with you to get you exactly the pistol you want. I'd encourage anyone to give him a call. Btw, he is also a great choice if you want to have an off the shelf pistol worked on. I've got a Kimber Warrior that he blueprinted, and it has run thousands of flawless rounds.

I've got one of Jeff's bobtail commanders. you won't be disappointed. I'm in Brentwood most days. Let me know if you'd like to come by and check it out.

California To Pass Bill Restricting BB Guns
MacGyver replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have a friend who was involved in a shooting accident when we were in middle school. Whether you're a gun person or not, I argue strongly that as a responsible parent, you owe it to your child to teach them how to handle a gun. I'll even do it for you. -
That's pretty cool...Congrats!

Ohhh..if you're going to HEB, pick up some of their hill country blend coffee, too. Good stuff.

Busse Bushwhacker Mistress passaround
MacGyver replied to Major Kong's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Had her waiting on me when I got home this afternoon. Looking forward to putting her through the paces! -
Yeah, the public gathering clause was repealed a couple of years ago - interestingly one of the last Jim Crow laws to be struck down. The Dome does list "no firearms allowed", but as far as I know, they don't conduct searches, and signs have no weight of law unless you're asked to leave. That said, there's a lot of potential for ruining an otherwise fun event when you have to ride MARTA back to where you're staying to stow your weapon.

I thought this might be of interest to some of you, as a lot of our threads lately on one topic have wound up invoking the other at some point in the discussion. As you can see from the topics, this series isn't really meant to win anyone over to anyone else's way of thinking. It certainly won't tell you who to vote for, or to demonize you for who you plan to vote for. Rather, it is to see if we can bring the level of discourse up a level - at least within our little community. It's frustrating to see a group of "Christians" in the media completely co-opt the conversation and then use their pulpit to speak with hate. This is simply an attempt to have a better conversation. If you do plan on coming, be sure to shoot me a note. We're pretty small, but we've got several TGO'ers who will definitely want to put names and faces with any other TGO'ers who show up.

In that case, I would take the job that's offered first, but in case you get more than one offer, go with the one that gives you the most opportunity to grow professionally. During your twenties, you have the unique opportunity to let someone else help you build your expertise, and you're in a position to make some personal sacrifices to do it. Knowledge and skill will be more valuable to you in the 40+ years of working you have in front of you that anything else. Go with the one that offers the most room for personal growth and opportunity.

How old are you? Married? Family?

If I were going to spend $200 on a tax stamp, I'd go ahead and spend the extra $20 on a forged lower. There's nothing wrong with polymer, but it's kind of like your grandfather used to tell you - "if you're going to use it more than twice, then save your money and get the best you can buy." Once you go the SBR route, that rifle is probably with you for the rest of your life. Go ahead and make it a good one. Otherwise, I think the polymer lowers work great.

Oh, how awful!

It's such a good story that I retell it. Makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Lance Armstrong Banned for Life and Stripped of Titles
MacGyver replied to analog_kidd's topic in General Chat
Interestingly, if they strip his titles, there is only one person in seven years on the podium who has not also been wrapped up in a doping scandal of their own. -
So, after careful consideration, the moderating team has decided to ban this account from TGO. .Since there's going to be speculation here, I'll offer my reasoning behind it. Other staff members may add additional comments later. First of all, this thread shouldn't even be here. When this incident was brought to light earlier this year, the user offered an agreement to the moderating team to voluntarily leave the board in return for closing a thread that he didn't feel would be in his best interest to comment on. We took him at his word and closed the thread. We were surprised and disappointed to wake up earlier this week and find this. Reading the thread objectively, I was initially disturbed by a couple of things, but primarily the user posting and then deleting material when a user called him on it (see DaveTN's post). But, I put this aside and tried to move past it. I kept returning to it as users commented throughout the day, however. This was a mistake, as I kept returning to the first post. What really disturbed me was right up top in the second paragraph. The user admits to sending the email, but then goes on to claim it wasn't racist, that he didn't threaten the councilman and that his actions weren't against the law. I won't make a claim about the user being a racist. But this message wasn't a slur or epithet voiced unwittingly in a moment of anger. It was an email that someone had to take the time to find a contact, compose and send. The email was certainly racist. The email did make a threat. "You have been warned" may not seem to carry a lot of weight as a threat, but given our history in the south, it is loaded with specific meaning. Ask the families Medgar Evers, James Cheney or Andrew Goodman about the warning. It is certainly a threat in a message like this, and I would have called the cops, too. Finally, the user did in fact break the law. He was arrested and charged. The fact that he received a diversion and later had his record expunged does not change this. I may not agree with speech being against the law, but when you make start making threats, you've crossed a line. I don't have any doubt that this case has changed Drew, and I take him at his word that it's for the better. I hope he continues on that path and contributes to society - be it in journalism, photography, storm tracking or anywhere else his life may lead him. But, he's done here. As a gun owner, your actions and your words speak for all of us. Especially as an HCP holder, you represent our community as a whole everytime you strap on a weapon. This isn't really a matter of forgiveness, as he hasn't wronged me, or any of us. But his posts in this thread also indicate to me that he's not ready to represent this community yet, either.

Generally great fit and finish. Good shooting value shotgun. You could do a lot worse.

Closing this one. This is considered trademark infringement and the leagues would have already taken legal action if it weren't offshore.

Welcome to TGO. We're looking forward to a good range in Nashville. Looking forward to getting a membership.

I've followed the lead of a friend of mine, and will no longer eat barbeque at any place that does not serve exclusively barbeque. It means calhouns and other chains are out. It does take you to some pretty good dives.

Yankee hill's are specific. I'll see if I can find them.

I've always wanted a SA 22. That's despite the fact that I don't think I've ever even shot one. One of my friends grandfathers had one when I was a kid. I always admired it. Girly, maybe. But I don't know how you can be a true JMB disciple without one.
