  1. Elder's Books down on Ellison Place in Nashville would be a great start.

Yikes!  Way to ruin a perfectly good day of fishing.   Sorry to hear about that.
  3. Today's Deep Throat is gonig to have to learn from the original Deep Throat, Mark Felt.  Low tech is what will deliver the day.
  4. While it's rare that I find myself referencing Mother Jones, the author does make a good point - basically, that reporters aren't going to let this go now because Jay Carney made it personal by lying to their faces:   http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2013/05/heres-why-benghazi-may-finally-have-legs
  5. I've got pads going back to the Cascade Designs days. Toss it and get a new one. The acidity of the urine almost certainly compromised the closed cell foam, and you'll never really get the smell out.
  6. That's a nice deal from one of our premier sponsors.
  7. I love this fallacy that even our government seems to fall for. It shows how separated they really are from reality. That somehow if you do it just right you can put a cork in this" Internet problem." You can't put Pandora back in the box. Someone let him out a long time ago. Make no mistake about it. This is a good part of the reason any government wants an Internet kill switch. This is a small example but it's easy to extrapolate to a larger narrative. If they can silence this young man they can also silence you when you say something or do something they don't agree with.
  8. In my mind there's not a lot of difference between this and the governments in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya shutting down Twitter and social networking before their respective uprisings. A government can't outlaw thought, but it can try to muzzle individual voices. There's no military hardware here; this is not something that ITAR ought to apply to. This is a First Amendment issue more than a Second Amendment issue. Someone's just using a piece of plastic shaped like a gun as a megaphone.
  9. It's pretty rich when they actually start thinking that they can somehow legislate the creative thought process. I'm not sure what that says about how delusional some of these folks are.
  10. I don't know, but I've seen plenty of gas blocks that could be appropriately described as "torked" over the years.    Kind of matched most of the guys who built them for that matter.
  11. So long as they're defacto public monopolies, I don't expect much.

Make sure you shoot one first, then. If you don't like the 10/22, I'm not sure how this one is going to fare better. Is there something particular you're looking for in a .22?
  13. I wouldn't take my chances.  Get out of there, man.  :)

Hmm.  How times change, I guess.  I just saw a new model with a birch stock that was pretty nice, then.    To the OP, I look at the comparison in two ways.  First, during normal times, you can walk into any gun shop or sporting goods store in America and find magazines and accessories for your 10/22 at a reasonable price.  If you ever want to "upgrade", there may not be another platform save the AR-15 for which as many aftermarket parts have been made.  Second, I look at it simply.  There are a lot of .22s in my safe.  We shoot a lot.  The 10/22 carbine that I got for my 13th birthday is still one that I reach for and still gets shot in heavy rotation.  I can't say that for a lot of others sitting there.

Were it me, I'd try to add another $50 and opt for the classic walnut Ruger 10/22.    There's nothing wrong with the 795, though.
  16. Those really are Evil Black Rifles...
  17. I do not particularly like Mark Sanford, and think he represents a lot of what's wrong with our political system. That said, I'll chalk this one up to further proof that the DNC has never met a sure thing that they couldn't find a way to screw up.
  18. Got some news coming in the next few days...   Stay tuned for updates.
  19. Sweet!  Glad you were able to find one.
  20. I expect it had more to do with the veritable DDOS attacks that gun owners were unwittingly unleashing on their site whenever Federal bulk packs and the like were in stock.   I seem to recall him saying something recently about the notification system being utilized recently far beyond the capacity it was designed to support.  I can appreciate them turning it down if it's not reliable.   That, and I can support them turning the volume down some - so to speak.  If you've got a bunch of gun owners reacting like Pavlov's dogs everytime they get a stock notification, this ammo shortage is going to last a lot longer than it needs to.
  21. Best crust in Nashville. Carry friendly with their drivers, too. My local store owner went a long way to support one of their drivers after he was involved in a shooting following a robbery attempt.
  22. The MakerBot, which is arguably the big player in the "recreational" space is around $2000.
  23. Here's one:   http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1650950769/rigidbot-3d-printer
  24. Times have changed.  I just bought a 3D printer for less than $400.  It takes up about the same amount of space as either my 7x16 lathe or my CNC mill.
