Keep it covered. Stay out of bars. Have fun. They're growing some big pigs down there.

How ya gonna build your TGO billet lower?
MacGyver replied to Caster's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Tell me. Like I said, I appreciate him backing out while it was still easy. It wouldn't have been pretty if they had waited, and I'd dare say it would have had a lasting effect on their reputation. -

MacGyver replied to Caster's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Well... We've had a setback on this. The company that originally approached us about doing it has backed out. I'm frankly pretty glad that the owner of the company showed his character now before we sent him a $25,000 check. We were literally about to open up the payment page for everyone to fulfill their orders when they backed out. So, better now than after we started collecting people's money. This should just be a temporary setback. We've had a couple other manufacturers reach out to us after seeing the interest. We'll see if we can't line another one up. I'll keep everyone apprised. -
Make sure someone lets us know if "Joe" gets sent to Guantanamo.

Uh oh. http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2013/05/20/25-gun-created-with-cheap-3d-printer-fires-nine-shots-video/ Well, so much for nipping that whole internet thing in the bud...

Is this a termite, or just a flying ant?
MacGyver replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Yep, that's a termite. -
Ha! They've got people that can help with that these days, you know? If nothing else, you can wear one on the left, the other one on the right, and make all those liberals you work with all hot and itchy. That's worth the price right there.

Tomato. Tomatoe.

I thought that was one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse that I saw on horizon this morning...

You got the better end of that deal for sure.

There's not a thing wrong with that knife. I put Benchmade on a pedestal for years. The AFO set a standard for design and function that remains to this day. I have and use a bunch of their stuff. Like so many, though I think they squandered a lot of their good name by forcing out too many knives of mediocre design and by failing to pay attention to quality control in their manufacturing. They've since recovered a bit, but I'd love to see them step away from 154CM to something that'll hold an edge longer.

If you're looking for an assisted opening knife, the Zero Tolerance 0350 has unbelievably fast action. I'd actually call it faster than most autos I've used with the exception of a few ProTechs. Browsing the Bladed Tools subforum, you might think that we're some sort of shill for Zero Tolerance, or that they're a sponsor. They probably should be a sponsor, but there's a good reason so many of us carry their blades, and specifically the ZT0350. It's that good. For ~$110, I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find better.

Why Benghazi May Finally Have Legs
MacGyver replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree with you, Worriedman. We all assume that the press is somehow a full, participating partner in this charade. That takes more than just ideological alignment. That also takes willingness, foresight, patience and some manner of intelligence. I would posit that while there are some individual reporters or people working for the media that have all of those characteristics, the organizations for which they work are no where near as adept. To paraphrase an old friend, "they're too stupid to come up with that by themselves." I'd guess we still have some ground to cover, but this incident may prove damning. Once the patsy realizes that they're being played, they become unpredictable and dangerous to the overall mission. -
Elder's Books down on Ellison Place in Nashville would be a great start.

Yikes! Way to ruin a perfectly good day of fishing. Sorry to hear about that.

Today's Deep Throat is gonig to have to learn from the original Deep Throat, Mark Felt. Low tech is what will deliver the day.

While it's rare that I find myself referencing Mother Jones, the author does make a good point - basically, that reporters aren't going to let this go now because Jay Carney made it personal by lying to their faces: http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2013/05/heres-why-benghazi-may-finally-have-legs

I've got pads going back to the Cascade Designs days. Toss it and get a new one. The acidity of the urine almost certainly compromised the closed cell foam, and you'll never really get the smell out.

That's a nice deal from one of our premier sponsors.

3D gun files pulled due to potential ITAR violation
MacGyver replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I love this fallacy that even our government seems to fall for. It shows how separated they really are from reality. That somehow if you do it just right you can put a cork in this" Internet problem." You can't put Pandora back in the box. Someone let him out a long time ago. Make no mistake about it. This is a good part of the reason any government wants an Internet kill switch. This is a small example but it's easy to extrapolate to a larger narrative. If they can silence this young man they can also silence you when you say something or do something they don't agree with. -
3D gun files pulled due to potential ITAR violation
MacGyver replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
In my mind there's not a lot of difference between this and the governments in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya shutting down Twitter and social networking before their respective uprisings. A government can't outlaw thought, but it can try to muzzle individual voices. There's no military hardware here; this is not something that ITAR ought to apply to. This is a First Amendment issue more than a Second Amendment issue. Someone's just using a piece of plastic shaped like a gun as a megaphone. -
It's pretty rich when they actually start thinking that they can somehow legislate the creative thought process. I'm not sure what that says about how delusional some of these folks are.

These are the AR's your friends warned you about.
MacGyver replied to Chucktshoes's topic in Long Guns
I don't know, but I've seen plenty of gas blocks that could be appropriately described as "torked" over the years. Kind of matched most of the guys who built them for that matter. -
So long as they're defacto public monopolies, I don't expect much.

Make sure you shoot one first, then. If you don't like the 10/22, I'm not sure how this one is going to fare better. Is there something particular you're looking for in a .22?
