That's a crack. Frankly, I'd call it a design flaw. There's sure not a lot of material attaching that grip - especially for something as hard recoiling as a 12 gauge.

And their vote counts just the same as yours...

That's fair. Good luck with your search.

These are in about the condition I'd expect of a 60's era gun: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=369270680 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=368847036 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=369639121 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=369817731 I'm sure you can spend a lot more on one in really good condition. Seems like most that I see are shooters in similar condition to this, though.

Gotcha. I'm still on the fence. Maybe if I could find a Bauer .25 in the sub-$100 range instead of the $200ish range they seem to be priced at. By the time I spent $200, I'd be rationalizing another $100 for a 1960's produced Baby Browning and carry it with pride.

Collections are funny things, but wasn't the Bauer a stainless, but otherwise exact copy of the Baby Browning? I think I'd go for the original.

CMT will be converting people to the TGO group this week. Once that's done, they'll add stock, and you'll have to opportunity to complete your order by adding stuff to your cart and paying for it. From there, it'll get made and hopefully ship in time for the holidays! Everyone will be getting a PM once the conversion is done and ordering is ready.

How to say to mama to obamacare
MacGyver replied to Dustbuster's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm pretty sure that should someone try this out, it would result in free healthcare - as well as meals, lodging and a cute jumpsuit. -
Easy solution. Just carry them both.

Kimber had a rough couple of years a few years back - and that was mostly due to the extractor issue that was mentioned above and sub-par magazines. That said, they deserve some credit for stepping into the 1911 space when they did. A lot of the folks making 1911s today probably wouldn't be here had it not been for the tide of Kimber's marketing dollars floating all of their boats - so to speak. I've owned a couple of Kimbers, including a Warrior that is my daily workhorse. I've put thousands upon thousands of rounds through it, and it has never let me down. I vowed that I would shoot the finish off of the gun, and even that has held up better than I would have expected. I really only use Wilson 47D magazines, and would frankly replace just about anybody's factory magazines with ones that I know are reliable. I prefer a sight that will let me rack a slide one handed off my belt if need be. I've had better luck with the meprolights on the Kimber than on the low profile sights on the Sigs I've shot. Any sight can be changed to your preference, though. I'd have no hesitation buying a TLE II - especially the railed variant which I prefer since I run a light. But, Sig makes some nice variants, too. I really like the grippiness of the grip panels they're running on the Extreme.

Used to be made in the USA. Most of their lower tier scopes are made offshore now days. Much to our chagrin...

This just in............I got SCREWED!
MacGyver replied to LI0NSFAN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No private company can compete with an entity that is willing to lose money quarter after quarter. If your end goal is a single payer system, the ACA is a brilliant opening move. -
I'll let them know.

Closing this one down. We'll start PM'ing pricing this afternoon. If you want to do something in the meantime, you can go register for an account over on CMT's site. Once we get everyone registered, we'll switch everyone to a TGO group from which you'll be able to pay for and fulfill your order for your choice of lowers, uppers and BCGs.

I'm a pretty harsh judge of a burger, but Burger Republic has a pretty good one.

"Sequestration" Ends the A-10 Thunderbolt
MacGyver replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, our modern military hates any system that is a "single mission" system. One could argue that the Warthog is really only good at punching big holes in things. Of course, sometimes, you just need a simple tool that can break stuff well enough that it can't be fixed. The A-10 has always excelled at that job. -
As someone who grew up in the 70's and 80's, I look on the mothballing of the A-10 as a real loss to our military - for the Air Force pilots who loved to fly it, and the Army grunts who love the sound of its 30mm close air support. Linking this article just for the picture of the avenger cannon that the place is built around: http://kotaku.com/a-sad-farewell-to-the-coolest-fighter-jet-of-all-time-1374187357 And the source: http://www.dodbuzz.com/2013/09/18/air-force-mourns-likely-passing-of-a-10-warthog/?comp=700001076338&rank=6

If enough people would simply take an anti-incumbent stance and refuse to send anyone back to Washington - basically a voter-enacted term limitation, Congress would change in a major way. At that point, I'm not sure it would matter nearly as much what letter, R, D or otherwise follows their name. Everyone would do a better job representing their own constituents.

AR sounds like a box of springs.....
MacGyver replied to Handsome Rob's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
If the aforementioned sound of freedom bothers you, there's always a silent buffer spring: http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.7.2_os.php They're not cheap, but it'll take the cheese grater sound right out of your rifle. -
Hard to go wrong with a classic Swiss Army Knife. I've still got mine that I got when I was 8. I'd personally skip the self defense part with a child and really work on proper handling.

Bike Trip - 2000 miles in less than 48 hours

That's epic! Good luck. -
Makes great sense really. Just don't cry foul when you find yourself with a label attached. After all. The data won't lie, right?
