  1. That's awesome!
  2. Yes, unfortunately I have separated my weapons.  Our family likes to shoot, and we have firearms that fill that "sporting purpose".  We have weapons that are for the defense of myself, my wife and our children, and those are driven by an entirely different set of considerations.   My wife falls into your school.  I wouldn't want to get between her and the Benelli.   We all make choices...
  3. CMT was kind enough to send us some pictures of the receivers in process this morning. Thought you guys would enjoy some progress pictures:
  4. Sweet!
  5. There are trade offs to the pistol upper, but they've got a lot going for them, too.  Shooting a rifle caliber inside an enclosed area like a house is a truly deafening experience - especially all the SBRs that people build for their perceived "maneuverability" needs.  Not to mention trying to shoot in the middle of the night, half awake with no ear protection.   I love my DDLES lower that takes Glock magazines.  I never run into a twinkie, twinkie, cupcake situation with my magazines.  If it'll fit the pistol inside the house, it'll fit the rifle inside the house.   You don't get nearly the energy transfer that you would with a rifle round.  But, we all make choices.  Mine just happen to lean towards suppressed 147gr HSTs with low flash powder.
  6. I've had a song in my head all day, and just realized it was because I looked at this thread this morning. I can't hear the word creosote without thinking about riding around in my dad's MGB wagon as a kid listening to Jimmy Buffett's A1A on 8 track. "I remember the smell of the creosote plant when we'd have to eat on Easter with my crazy old uncle and aunt..."

Just a quick reminder that the Group Buy will be closed at the end of the day on the 20th.  We've had about half of the members that expressed interest and created accounts actually place orders.  If you've not gotten your order in over at CMT, you need to do the following:   Login over at http://CMTTactical.com with the credentials you created a few weeks ago Look for the TGO section of the store You'll see the TGO Lowers, TGO Uppers and M16 Bolt Carrier Groups. (Note that for lowers, you must select an FFL before you can add it to your cart) You may purchase up to two (2) of any of the above   CMT sent me a note today saying that they are in production.  I'm looking forward to posting some pictures in the next day or so!
  9. If ever there was a varmint for which the .17HMR was designed, it's the armadillo.   Those ballistic tips versus their hard shell and soft guts...bleh.
  10. Sounds like it was a great trip.  That's a nice redfish, too!
  11. They eat them down in Louisiana and East Texas.  That's where all the leprosy cases are reported, too.  Coincidence?
  12. Neat video.  Pretty sure I'd be dead or in a coma by dinner time...
  13. They're a nuiscance, and they're definitely on the move.  I remember as a kid down in Georgia, there was a guy out on Cumberland Island whose sole job was to drive around in this old Toyota pickup and shoot armadillos on sight.  Most days, the bed of his truck had dozens, if not more dead ones.   Be careful touching them - alive or dead.  They're know to be able to transmit leprosy to humans.  Almost a third of the reported cases of leprosy every year are due to armadillo contact.
  14. If elections were Friday, he'd win by a larger margin than he did in November. Boehner will be remembered for holding an opposition as long as he has with as little as he's got. But, while you might be able to argue that the GOP is trying to take the first step of getting the defense off the field, they're a long way from being able to mount an effective offense.
  15. Sweet rig. Nice work, Spook!
  16. I use Lee dies, but I'm not using much cast stuff, yet.  I'm going to let Gordon and Caster do all the beta work and then benefit from their experience :)   I've not had any issue with jacketed stuff.
  17. Nope. It's your property. You can pretty much carry as you see fit.
  18. At $2.50/round, I'd bet you could get everything you need to roll your own and be ahead by the time you got to your 80th piece of brass.
  19. All the stuff to do a pistol caliber build on a standard lower is removable.  I say go for it.   I sure do like DDLES's dedicated glock mag lower, though.  Works just like it should.
  20. I'm with Mac here, guessing that no one has ever been charged, but if the wanted to check composition, it's a pretty easy task on an x-Ray machine set up to do fluoroscopy.
  21. Yeah, it can be pretty low this time of year. We were looking at it earlier last month and called the rangers about water levels. His reply was, "oh yeah, you can totally do a canoe trip. How far are you wanting to carry them?" That's what pushed us to the Green river instead. Being between two dams not too far outside the national park boundaries, it was about 100 feet wide, about 10 feet deep, and you didn't really even have to paddle unless you just felt like it.
  22. Good to hear! Good luck.
