As it turns out, heavy wheel movements on a ship of any size can be terribly effective when employed appropriately. The bow waves and wash generated by any of these ships travelling at speed can be devastating to a small craft.

Maritime insurance regulations have historically been against it. Likewise, it creates problems trying to gain entry in just about any country in the world. As such, most transport companies have eschewed carrying firearms. That said, the game is changing a bit. The transport companies have adopted some interesting tactics reducing hijackings to zero in 2013. This is down from 52 in 2009, the year Maersk Alabama was hijacked.

Were I a funeral home director in Memphis right now, I'd wear my nice pajamas to bed. I expect that we'll be seeing some early morning visits from the authorities as we learn more.

Are you guys in Memphis following this story? http://wreg.com/2014/01/27/caskets-crushed-to-make-room-at-overcrowded-cemetery/ There could be hundreds or thousands of unidentified graves in this place. Forensic teams are going to be busy for years.

David is pretty covered up this week, but in a uniquely good way. I'll ping him and see what I can find.

Officially, yes. I was in the field 50 weeks a year for the last 4 years I was there, so I don't even remember if we maintained an office.

I love their quote, "we start with the possibility that we will be in that location for decades, if not hundreds of years, to come." This coming from a company that's existed in the same place since 1526.

Early in my career I worked for Kroll. Kroll OnTrack is the best in the business, but they're not cheap.

I'm listening with VodkaPundit.

RMJ Tactical should be your only stop as a Tennessean. No one makes a better tomahawk than Ryan, and you can keep your business right here in Tennessee. http://www.rmjtactical.com

Without an income tax, the man has to make his money somewhere.

My 7 year old has gotten into playing the original Colossal Cave Adventure that I got running on a Raspberry PI hooked up to the TV. She loves drawing maps, and has been having fun with it. "You're in a maze of twisty little passages all alike." Infocom has made all of the Zork Trilogy available for free. They run great in Frotz on Linux.

Nite Sites -vs- mounted light?
MacGyver replied to charlessummers's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Spend some time with each of these, and you'll see very quickly that it's not an either/or choice. A light and night sights address two different aspects of the problems associated with darkness. -
Nite Sites -vs- mounted light?
MacGyver replied to charlessummers's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Both for me. It doesn't matter how bright your sights are if you can't identify what's down range. With the TFOs I run, the back scatter from the light makes the light pipes in the sights light up like a Christmas tree. It's not one or the other. It's a system. -
so, three nazis walk into a bar ....

Stealing is never funny. The Outpost has been a sponsor of this site as long as they've been open. Both corporately and as a family, they do a ton to support the shooting community. They've got a lot of nice stuff in there, and while they may not beat Bud's and the other big internet players all day everyday, I'd be willing to bet Chris won't willingly lose too many sales to them. And, they do it while paying the overhead it takes to let everyone put their grubby hands on stuff they're going to turn around and buy online. You don't have to shop there, but don't disparage them - especially as they put a pallet of .22lr out at mostly normal prices. You just can't make some folks happy.

Has anyone shot any of this? I don't expect it to replace my RWS Subsonic, but I'd love to hear a report on the stuff.

Well I guess Krogers rule on the side of Greedy!!!!

If y'all knew what they were doing with the data derived from those Kroger plus cards, it'd blow your minds. Mind you, Target has proven you don't even need a card since everyone's paying with plastic. -
Agreed. That said, there are a lot of American made aftermarket tubes. With one in the pipe, one on the elevator and 7 in the tube, that's 9 rounds of 12 gauge goodness. :)

Another great example of the type is the Benchmade Triage 915 series. They can be had in a plain edge, and with the addition of both a rescue hook and a window breaker, it's a great knife. I carry one pretty regularly.

The hawkbill type blades are great at cutting tangled lines, and if that's all you had to deal with, I'd probably go that route. The design actually improves the effectiveness of the serrations. But, on the water I'm also concerned with people being tangled up in those lines - possibly including myself. I go with the sheepsfoot type blade of the Rescue because I find it's easier to cut through whatever without sticking someone. It's also what I carried on a reuse team 20 years ago, so I guess there's some fond nostalgia in there, too.

Just make sure that you don't shoot a Benelli first if you plan on purchasing something else.
