That's pretty cool. I had no idea that stock even existed.

Correct.

It was a long shot at best. Looks like I'm going to be breaking out the machine tools.

Has anyone done business with Nashville Safe House?
MacGyver replied to quickbiscuit's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
They're great folks. I am a customer. Should I ever need another safe, I'll call them again. As to the delivery fee, it's worth it - especially if your move includes any stairs. It's way cheaper than sending folks to the ER. -
Gun confiscation is on the table in Conn.
MacGyver replied to jphillips63's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
These two statements are really important, and provide some clarity in this argument that should be carefully considered. As has been said many times here before, "statists are gonna state." It's the nature of the beast. All three of our branches of government are guilty of power grabbing. This isn't a new thing. It's been happening since the very beginning of our country. It's expanded under republican leadership. It's expanded under democratic leadership. It's expanded under non-partisan guises simply because it's the government thing to do. People don't go to Washington to reign in the government. Even if they talk "small government," they go to Washington because they think they know better than everyone else how to run it. They're going to grab power where they can...all of them. There are things that the average American should be concerned about. Warrantless surveillance, drone strikes, no-knock raids and gun confiscation all qualify as things to be concerned about. Some of them not simply because they violate our "rights", but also because we're better than that and ought to be asking harder questions instead of taking the easy way out. BUT, there's still a gulf of separation between where we are now, and a drone killing someone without oversight on American soil or the government going door to door in Connecticut and grabbing peoples' guns. Perspective matters, and we have to keep that in mind to avoid be marginalized as "tinfoil hatters." There's a lot of distance between where we are today and needing load up our magazines. Unfortunately, when our rhetoric focuses on hanging politicians from the yardarm we neglect the most basic action that our founding fathers gave us to take back control. Vote. Get out there and get involved. Blog about it. Speak about it in the media. Talk to your neighbors in your community. Don't let the big guys control the dialogue simple because of their size. If the internet has given mankind one thing, it has given voice to the common man in ways it's never happened before. Don't squander that voice. The vast majority of our members on this forum are here because of their love of guns. But remember, shots fired in anger will change this American experiment in ways that cannot be undone. Your life will not be the same. You won't go home to suburbia and get on with your life. What follows won't resemble what was. There may come a day when armed conflict comes again to our shores - even from within. But, we're a long way from that day. And, our actions today can prevent that day from coming. You have more power than any citizen in the world has ever had. People are giving their lives worldwide right now for just a taste of the power that we take for granted. Go out there and use it!- 128 replies

I've got a little project going on, and am looking for a particular tool. Does anyone have a KAC SR-25 URX Barrel Nut Wrench - PN: 23383? Note that this is different than the SR-15 tool for the 11 prong barrel nuts.

Let someone with the right equipment handle it. Tritium is a beta emitter that you don't want to inhale or otherwise ingest if you accidentally break a vial.

Have you got a GitHub account? I screwed around with several version control systems over the years - everything from small self hosted packages up to TFS. There's a learning curve to get, but it's good and is about as close to free as you can get.

Make sure and give us an update when they catch this guy! -
AWS is the way to go if you're interested in managing the box yourself. It's cost effective. They even have a free tier. That said, if you've got questions about whether or not you've got the skills to self-host, semi-dedicated, managed hosting is cheaper than it's ever been.

I really like the aggressive drop point on that blade!

Wait until they integrate the instant background check before enabling the pistol...

Here's a couple more pictures of the blank after rough cutting with the hacksaw, starting filing and after tempering: One note on the last picture - sort of a lesson learned. I used hardware store boric acid during tempering to act as an anti-scaling compound. In the future, I think I'll spring for some commercial compound, as the leftover residue from the boric acid was so hard to remove that I found myself thinking that I'd rather deal with the effects of scaling. It couldn't have been any worse.

You'd be really surprised! With both of those tools, it's really hard to remove enough metal fast enough to really screw it up. You get a lot of indication that your method needs some correction. I made a simple jig. When I say simple, I mean a block of wood with a couple of eyebolts in it to keep the file at a consistent angle and not let it go past the ricasso. I clamped the work piece to it and went to town. I actually walked away from the process being surprised at letting myself think it was more complicated than it was. It took some patience, but was quite rewarding.

Who robs a house in a dang sweater vest? I hope they catch him soon. -
What a shame. We need more innovators - not fewer.

Remember to wear a good mask/respirator if you go with G10. That sanding dust can be nasty.

That looks great! If you can do the filing work on that knife, rolling your own kydex is a breeze. Sandwich some high density closed cell foam from an old camp mattress between some plywood and you've got a press. Add in a rivet kit or screws from knifekits.com and you're on your way.

I know a couple of guys who have those safes in places where thieves are likely to look first. They're loaded down with bricks.

Be careful with aluminum stuff in the ultrasonic cleaner. Depending, they can do a number on them.

I have three rules for Harbor Freight: If I'm going to use it more than once, then I'll probably be happier paying a little more for something with a guarantee If my safety would be a risk by the tool breaking, then I need to look at something else - this one came into being by watching more than one Harbor Freight impact socket grenade into a million pieces of shrapnel. Wear your dang safety glasses! (A direct follow on of rule number 2) I do love looking around in there from time to time, but more often than not I leave without buying anything of consequence. That said, I've bought a bunch of oddball fasteners, e-clips, roll pins, etc... over the years.
