On a related note, Paul Ryan released the following report today on The War on Poverty: 50 years later . It's worth reading.

Ahh. That does make it interesting indeed. The fact that they think they can hide this and not get caught is almost comical. November should prove interesting. And, that should make the run up to 2016 even crazier than it's almost certain to be.

Marc, I'd encourage you to inquire with CMT on whole rifles. While I know that they only do the occasional build, I'm sure they'd be more than willing to talk to you about it. I'll certainly make any tools/knowledge I have available to anyone who wants to put one together, and I know that several others here have helped a bunch of our members out when putting things together.

Two years puts it to spring of 2016. edited noting that it's two years past the current extension, making it come due October 1, 2016 I'm going to look at it on the positive side of things. If there's one thing Obama did a remarkable job of in 2007-2008 it was the dismantlement of the Clinton machine. Further, in making her Secretary of State, he ran her so hard for his first few years in office that she looked like she had been hit by a train. I'm going to look at this as one final Obama "gift" to Hilary. Let her explain this thing and try to own it as she seeks the White House. Couple in the documents just released just released from the Clinton White House, and she's got a real tar baby on her hands. Of particular note is this one on keeping your doctor - remember that this is from 1994: The ostensible purpose of the delay was to ease the burden on Democrats in November. I expect it's not going to do much good, but Obama has to try something. If the GOP takes the Senate in November then they can really start pushing back with more than just useless gestures. Interesting times we live in.

Saw a shady deal at Academy- with pic

I an tell you authoritatively that if I see any ammo that David makes available to our members so that they and their kids can actually shoot for sale anywhere, we're going to have a big issue! David and I have had this conversation multiple times. He makes this ammo available to our members so that kids can continue to learn to shoot. And, I'd encourage you to think about that a little bit. If you're hoarding all your ammo and not getting out and shooting - who's teaching your kids to be responsible gun owners? Shooters can be gone in a generation if we don't support it at home and support the programs like the Boy Scouts that teach kids to shoot. I have ammo set aside, but I also have a deal with all of my friends - that if they're not going to teach their kids how to handle a firearm, then just ask and I'll be happy to teach them how to safely interact with one. And, if I use my last round of .22LR doing that - that's okay. -

Some of y'all sure know how to look a gift horse in the mouth... -
I want to reiterate that a group buy isn't even being discussed right now. These are being offered at a price point that is practically a "group buy" price already! Anyone who's interested in .308 receivers, supporting one of our vendors and supporting a TN manufacturer should take a close look at these receiver sets.

Check out the source document above Tennessee is at the very bottom of the list.
-
Think 338 Federal, .358 Winchester, etc... Or, if you aren't satisfied with the .458 SOCOM, you can go up to .450 Marlin!

They say money can't buy happiness. But it can by a WaveRunner - which is probably close enough...

Oh man...you've got our prayers!

Assuming you can draw a picture of it on the back of an appropriately sized check, I'm pretty sure they'll make you anything you want.

I don't get these email chains sometimes... There's enough false information added to them that the whole email gets dismissed when the underlying data tells a story that's plenty damning in it's own right - maybe it's that for the first decade of this study, it was under Republican administrations? Anyway - I'd encourage anyone to spend some time with the original source document: http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/the_work_versus_welfare_trade-off_2013_wp.pdf

I'd love to hope we will at some point, but I know that CMT is going to have a lot of demand keeping them busy as soon as these launch. I know that no one has unlimited funds - I sure don't. But, I would tell our members not to wait on a group buy if you're interested in one of these. They're going to be offered at a great price point. Support one of our vendors and keep some of your gun money in Tennesse!

I know people are going to be saying bad words under their breath this afternoon. Like I said, drink less Starbucks or something ;)

I'll let CMT speak to specific pricing, but from what I've heard, the price is going to be pretty compelling.

Following our group buy last year, a lot of people have asked if Cross Machine Tool has any plans to manufacture .308 receivers. I'm thrilled to get to announce this to you guys, but they're right around the corner, and they look every bit as good as their AR-15 pattern receivers. I've just finished building a pre-release set, and I've got to say that I am beyond impressed at the quality of the receiver set. I've built a lot of ARs over the years, and I've not built on a platform with higher quality. I'll get some pictures of the finished build up in a day or so. I'm still waiting on a flash hider. But, in the meantime, here are some quick preview pictures: My build consisted of the following parts: ALG Defense parts kit and QMS trigger - I've got to say, this is a great trigger for the price .308 front pivot pin DPMS .308 rear takedown pin .308 dust cover Midlength gas tube ICE Arms Low profile gas block ICE Arms .308 Bolt carrier group Magpul MIAD grip Magpul CTR stock Blackhole Weaponry 18" 1:11" polygonal rifled barrel AAC 51T Brakeout Flash hider muzzle brake BCM Gunfighter 7.62 Mod 4 charging handle Knights Armament URX 3.1 7.62 Rail Adapter System - this is why I was looking for the wrench last week I haven't had the opportunity to put more than a half dozen rounds through it, but am looking forward to really dialing it in for accuracy over the next few weeks. We should be THRILLED to be having these built here in Tennessee. So join me in congratulating CMT and moreover - Start saving your gun money!

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
MacGyver replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
That should serve as a great reminder of exactly who the Republicans within the Tennessee legislature think they work for. It sure as heck isn't "we the people." They all need to hear their names mentioned in the same sentence as Debra Maggart's a little more often. And if we'd toss 3 or 4 of them under the bus every cycle - maybe just maybe they'd start to come around in a decade or so. -
Unless someone decides to "test" it, or someone with deep pockets decides to fund a case like Mr. Marbut's, it's hard to see a lot of difference between Montana and Tennessee. That said, with 8 states having passed the law, and 25 more states having introduced bills, it may not be a dead cause. I sure don't expect it to play out anytime soon, though. It's going to take them some time to find another horse.
-
With the Supreme Court declining to hear Gary Marbut's case last week, the current state of the TN Firearms Freedom bill is unfortunately little more than a nice sentiment.

Post it between media tags.

Good to hear on Kies, though. It's great to see a small company that stands behind their product!

Does anyone have a few rounds of Weatherby 340?
MacGyver replied to MemHeli's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I don't even know that I've ever seen .340 Weatherby for sale. Makes the .458 SOCOM look positively cheap. -
