  1. Dolomite_Supafly built one that allows for using 1911 springs.  I kind of like that setup since you can easily tune the rig with known weight springs.
  2. It is a lot quieter!  I guess it depends on how you view the cheese grater over metal sound.  Personally, I've always equated that with the sound of freedom :)
  3. The thing that's kept me from buying an AeroPress is that it's not offered in glass or pyrex.  I may make my own at some point.
  4. Yeah, Just Love is a good company.  I really like some of their stuff.
  5. You French press guys should try an AeroPress.   http://coffeegeek.com/resources/noteworthy/aerobie   Several folks I know swear it's hands down the best cup of coffee they've ever had.  I keep meaning to pick one up, but my pour over filter seems to fit my needs okay.   Oddly, it was invented by the same guy who made the Aerobie.
  6. With a lot of the automated HR systems these days, an A+ cert, as basic as it may be may be the only way your resume gets seen by a human.   What are you looking to do?  Career transition?  Entry to new opportunities?
  7. Resist the urge to get a grinder until you can get a good burr grinder.  I got pretty geeky about my methods for a while, and grinding it right before you brew it prevents a lot of oxidation.  It really did change the whole cup.   With three kids, I've got plenty of routine in the morning.  I generally set the water to boil as I'm making lunches.  By the time I'm done, so is the water.   I'm also the only coffee drinker in the house, so once I leave, the rest of a pot would be wasted.   Oddly, Fresh Market has become my goto place for coffee beans.  I look for the freshest beans available, and they usually have some that have been roasted in the last week or so.  Along with a burr grinder, freshness seems to be a big contributor to a good cup.  Most of the bagged beans that Fresh Market has have a six-month use by date, so it's easy to figure out when they were roasted.
  8. This is my coffee maker. It cost me $4 and it has yet to beep at me: Add in some quality coffee, and you can get a cup just like you want it.
  9. Here's a little entertainment for a Friday   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlqe1DXnJKQ   These things are going to be hard to kill when they turn them on us!
  10. The Mad Platter is always a nice experience.   Husk is a great new experience in the same neighborhood.

The 1000rd class was probably a 700rd class for him. The weapon functioned "okay", but he also had a cheap holster and an inferior belt. Let's just say that was probably the best $300 he ever spent. He replaced all three immediately after the class. He also realized the value of proper instruction. He's continued to make that investment.

A friend of mine went through a 1000rd defensive pistol course with a Sigma. It did better than I expected, but was a terribly enlightening experience for him.
  13. I'll try to post one this evening. I'm buried this week.
  14. Closing this one down.
  15. I'm with Mike on this.  As a father, I'm going to have some issues.   Note as well that an actual limo driver is going to have liability insurance.
  16. Thanks for posting that graphic.  I saw these in the GearHog email this morning and had no idea what they were, but didn't care enough to go look it up.   Proof that some people will spend more money if you'll just show them how.
  17. Oh, it gets a lot better when we actually graduate.  Then you have bored engineers with paychecks.   That's trouble!
  18. I liked the end of the video.  I think that any record for fastest mower should necessarily be on grass.
  19. The blue isn't really my thing, but I can see the market for it.   I'm baffled by the orange.  I've no idea what marketing train wreck thought that this would be a good idea - or how their legal team approved it. "Hey, I've got an idea.  Let's paint a gun the same color that they make all the toy guns!"
  20. I think mine was, too.
  21. Y'all have all heard me carry on about community and what contributes to it, but I think that TGO is kind of an interesting experiment.    Even though I am involved in the day-to-day operation of the forum, I'm always kind of pleased to hear when people put the phone down and go outside to play.   The way I look at it, each of our lives are on their own unique path.  Sometimes our paths are roughly similar, and sometimes they diverge - for a whole host of reasons.  Hopefully they'll come back together again someday and we can enjoy the stories of each others travels and unique struggles.  It's my hope that we can foster they type of community that encourages people to come back and check in once and a while.   Eddie, it didn't seem right to click the "like" button above, but it's always good to see you back on.
  22. It's a pretty neat concept.  I'll look forward to hearing peoples' impressions.

If a Lorcin and a S&W Sigma had a baby, this would be it.  It's a $250 piece of junk.
  24. Jeff Randall is a heck of a good guy. I think I've got an RC-3-mil if you want to put your hands on one.
