5.56 and 300 Blackout are way different animals when it comes to barrel length needed to fully consume powder. Like was mentioned above, 5.56 is going to have a lot of powder still being consumed as it exits a short barrel. 300 Blackout was designed for full consumption in 8.5" barrels. As such, erosion is going to be much higher in a 5.56 with a short barrel than it is in a 300 blackout. The 338 Spectre can use short barrels effectively, too.

Anyone else had the stomach flu for Christmas?
MacGyver replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
My middle daughter missed 4 days the week before Christmas to the flu. She was better by the weekend, but then threw up a couple of times on Christmas Day. Fun times. Luckily everyone else has stayed well. -
So sorry to hear about this, Greg! Here's hoping that you'll find peace and healing. Y'all will be in my prayers.

It's something that I wouldn't have splurged on for myself. That just makes it fun. -
The Official "What Santa Brought You For Christmas 2014" Thread

Santa brought me a new Yeti cooler. Didn't see it coming, and that's the best kind of present. -
I've got all kinds of Christmas spirit. I'm not sure why we've let KingArmory last as long as he has, here. He's been quietly trying to circumvent vendor rules hoping no one would notice despite being warned not to advertise. This series of posts goes beyond that, though. Community is important. We do a lot to protect it. He's done here.

There are plenty of folks who look down their noses at the RIAs, but I've never heard a bad word by someone who's actually owned one. If you want a no-frills 1911 that will run 230gr FMJs without a hiccup, you don't need to look any further. They're great pistols at a great price point.

Here's hoping that all of your stockings are weighed down with bricks of .22LR

Good to hear. I'm hoping for good things when I get time to visit the Mt. Juliet Gander Mountain, but I've been underwhelmed by Gander Mountain's service in just about every store I've been in. I've gone into the Turkey Creek store several times with money in my pocket and wound up leaving without a thing because I couldn't actually get someone to help me.

Do tell...

I prefer Cablea's over Gander Mountain and Bass Pro combined. Gas is not too bad right now. If I had the free time on a Saturday, I'd make the drive up. Heck there's a Gander Mountain at same exit and a Chuy's right across the street. Hit both the stores, grab some lunch and call it a good morning.

These are surely strange times we live in... -
Sears has really been a financial company masquerading as a retail store for the last decade. If you look at any of their recent earnings statements, you'll see that they made more off of interest on their cards than they did profit on goods sold. So really, thei stores just became a convenient vehicle to push their credit card. They lost me as a customer when they refused to warranty a wrench that was cracked straight from the package. They claimed I must have abused it, even though I produced a receipt from a few hours earlier and simply wanted to replace it. At that point, I figure there's no difference between craftsman and a kobalt or similar, so I walked out and haven't been back. Word is their current investor "loaned" them the $400 million they needed to purchase inventory for the holidays leveraged against their real estate. Like Radio Shack, I expect this'll be their final Christmas.

Does Chattanooga have a Tandy Leather? They sell scraps, but you'll have to layer it to get it that thick. I've also had good luck getting scrap leather from Dangerous Threads here in Nashville. I think they sell on Amazon.

One thing I've learned over the last 20 years - Everyone has their proclivities, and the internet caters to all of them. -
There are some great folks here!
