  1. I've got all kinds of Christmas spirit. I'm not sure why we've let KingArmory last as long as he has, here. He's been quietly trying to circumvent vendor rules hoping no one would notice despite being warned not to advertise. This series of posts goes beyond that, though. Community is important. We do a lot to protect it. He's done here.
  2. There are plenty of folks who look down their noses at the RIAs, but I've never heard a bad word by someone who's actually owned one. If you want a no-frills 1911 that will run 230gr FMJs without a hiccup, you don't need to look any further. They're great pistols at a great price point.
  3. Here's hoping that all of your stockings are weighed down with bricks of .22LR
  4. Good to hear.   I'm hoping for good things when I get time to visit the Mt. Juliet Gander Mountain, but I've been underwhelmed by Gander Mountain's service in just about every store I've been in.  I've gone into the Turkey Creek store several times with money in my pocket and wound up leaving without a thing because I couldn't actually get someone to help me.
  5. Do tell...
  6. I prefer Cablea's over Gander Mountain and Bass Pro combined.   Gas is not too bad right now.  If I had the free time on a Saturday, I'd make the drive up.  Heck there's a Gander Mountain at same exit and a Chuy's right across the street.  Hit both the stores, grab some lunch and call it a good morning.
  7. You're going to be in our prayers for a while!  Please let us know how you're doing!
  8. Definitely keeping you in our thoughts and prayers, Doug.   Please let us know if there's anything we can do as a community to help.
  9. These are surely strange times we live in...
  10. Sears has really been a financial company masquerading as a retail store for the last decade. If you look at any of their recent earnings statements, you'll see that they made more off of interest on their cards than they did profit on goods sold. So really, thei stores just became a convenient vehicle to push their credit card. They lost me as a customer when they refused to warranty a wrench that was cracked straight from the package. They claimed I must have abused it, even though I produced a receipt from a few hours earlier and simply wanted to replace it. At that point, I figure there's no difference between craftsman and a kobalt or similar, so I walked out and haven't been back. Word is their current investor "loaned" them the $400 million they needed to purchase inventory for the holidays leveraged against their real estate. Like Radio Shack, I expect this'll be their final Christmas.
  11. Does Chattanooga have a Tandy Leather? They sell scraps, but you'll have to layer it to get it that thick. I've also had good luck getting scrap leather from Dangerous Threads here in Nashville. I think they sell on Amazon.
  12. The Abominable Snowman is our tree topper.
  13. Hey, congratulations!
  14. I wonder if Chris Reeve would do a special Pacific run?
  15. One thing I've learned over the last 20 years - Everyone has their proclivities, and the internet caters to all of them.
  16. There are some great folks here!
  17. I'm so sorry to hear this, Dave. Y'all will be in our prayers this holiday season.
  18. I wonder if he can draw a liger?
  19. That's sweet!
  20. It's going to take a long time to get back to any sense of normalcy if gun owners DDOS a site as large as BassPro's every time some .22LR hits the shelves.
  21. I'm not sure how your email is linked.  I'll shoot a link over to David.  Thanks for your patience!
  22. I was thinking last night that we haven't had a good mousegun person since Marshall left us. That's a heavy gauntlet to pick up.
  23. No.  That was commentary on the Bill Goodman's fairground shows.  Just lamenting shows in middle Tennessee in general.
  24. There are some folks on here who could probably offer a lot of insight, but I think it's probably a variety of things.  We've had a couple of polarizing personalities involved in the production of middle Tennessee shows for years.  I think a lot of good folks called it quits because they got tired of dealing with the promoters.  Online sales have certainly hit the gun show market - on both ends.  On one end, there are a lot of people who would rather go online than go into a local shop.  On the other end, there are probably a lot of dealers who would rather treat GunBroker as sort of an internet gun show and deal with folks online as opposed to spending their weekends in some fairground warehouse.   Add in a lack of community, a tchotchke/gun ratio of at least 2:1, parking fees and ammo profiteers and I see why people quit coming.
