Just to brighten up your Friday afternoon, it's really encouraging to see a judge with some empathy. I appreciated his comments about how "sometimes they lose their way", but still recognizes their humanity: http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/concerned_about_veteran_with_ptsd_judge_orders_him_to_jail_and_serves_the_t

Man... That's awesome! Congrats.

My kids refer to the ice cream man as, "Dad's arch enemy."

660 grams? How much water were you drinking? Did your kidneys threaten to walk out on you?

The 329PD is a great pistol, but it comes at a price. Shoot too many full house loads and you'll be begging the bear to finish you off.

Guns & Leather Hired to Destroy Three Brand New Guns!
MacGyver replied to Sidewinder's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As far as I'm concerned, anti-gun groups cans spend all the money they want buying guns and then destroying them. -
I know there are a lot of good Christians on here.

I was at the Group Lodge out at Cedars this weekend with a church group. The wind was pretty crazy out there on Saturday. I can see where it might have caused problems. They say you're supposed to burp your smoker at higher temperatures. Here's why I guess... Glad you came through it okay!

Man, I'm sorry to hear that! -
If you decide to do it yourself, I'm sure I've got the tools you can use.

Man... Well the Hag, he wouldn't have a chance on today's radio. They got away with murder down on Music Row.

Put on a good headlamp at night or hold another light up by your ear inline with your eyes. Look for their eyes to reflect the light back at you. Follow all those to their source and you'll find every spider and scorpion on your property. Depending on your feelings towards insects, you'll either be fascinated or will burn the place down. All three of my kids love to go spider spotting. I could send my youngest down in the crawl space right now with a light and tell him to smash everything that moves. DCS might question my parenting, but he would both the thrilled and occupied for hours.

QD type suppressors for 9mm AR
MacGyver replied to Darnluck's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Gemtech's old MultiMount has a 3-lug mount: http://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/3-Lug-Mount-16p95.htm You'd likely also need the corresponding adapter for your AR barrel: http://www.trosusa.com Or, I think the Gemtech Raptor II is in 3-lug as well: http://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/RAPTOR-II-4p24.htm I'm sure there are plenty of others. I spent some time with a MultiMount back in the day before all the cool kids had 9mm carbines, so it was the first that came to mind. -
Need an Ophthalmologist Recommendation - Knoxville
MacGyver replied to 2Alpha's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
You don't need an ophthalmologist, you need an optometrist. Most optometrists will have a variety of safety glasses that they can fit you for just like they would any other pair of glasses. Or, if there's a specific pair you're looking at ordering online, you'd just need a prescription. Like was mentioned above, you could get specific correction for a sight at a known distance, you'd just have to communicate that with the doctor. Mind you, you're probably well advised to work with a small independent provider as opposed to one of the big box chains. -
Boy, I bet Jon was mad as a hornet before you got done with him!

Talking to a student about upgrading a firearm
MacGyver replied to timcar86's topic in Training Discussions
You're likely wasting your breath until they've had the experience of shooting the pistol and getting frustrated on their own. If they get frustrated, that gives you an opening to help them learn. But, up to that point, it involves throwing the husband under the bus. -
Wasn't the tracking in Bell Buckle the local population? I can't imagine you guys were able to set foot too far off of that property before all kinds of people would know what you were up to.

As an old friend of mine used to say, "Trust isn't like a broken leg. It takes a long time to heal." You've already got some trust issues. I expect your daughter may, too. I would make sure that you have the conversation on the front end about your ability to see where she is and where she is going. Otherwise, there's no positive outcome once you disclose the fact that you have that data. You'd think that a conversation about trust, responsibility and oversight wouldn't be such a big deal, but in this day and age where those traits are so rare between parents and children, it has the potential to really blow up if you don't handle it correctly.

I was a part of a conversation one time between a doctor and a patient regarding kidney stones and treatment. I'll always remember the doctor's words. He said, "it hurts about as much as cutting off a finger. You wouldn't try that without anesthesia, so why try this?"
