  1. That skinner is a great blade shape.
  2. A bunch of people in our office building use that service. It seems like that truck is always out in the parking lot.
  3. I don't know that I am really looking for any deals, but I sure hope to see some innovation from the manufacturers now that the Clinton juggernaut isn't looming over them.
  4. Not much out there hits like a barracuda. Looks like a great trip!
  5. A valid criticism this election cycle has been whether or not certain evangelical leaders have a sold out to the power of politics - overlooking Trumps moral failings in return for the promise of a as yet undefined "conservative" agenda. Russell Moore, who's sort of a public theologian out of the Southern Baptist Convention recently gave the Erasmus lecture at First Things, a Catholic publication concerned with the intersection of faith and civic life. Moore deals with the question of the religious right, and whether it can/should be saved. While I don't come from either of these traditions, I really appreciated the commentary. While I expect the audience for this will be quite small, if you enjoy podcasts and such, it's well worth an hour of your time.

  6. I like that Wharncliff. Might jump on one of those one of these days.
  7. I'm happy to arrange, but I don't have a ton of bandwidth right now. If you want to participate, PM me as follows: Screen name Real name Street address City, State Zip code
  8. Likely a smart move by a brand that seems to be using some of its cash to buy other outdoor brands.
  9. After Maduro shut down the recall election two weeks ago the consensus is that Venezuela is now officially a dictatorship. Unfortunately, Maduro doesn't have the charisma that Chavez had. And, as a former bus driver he doesn't have the skills to run a country either. They'll kill him before it's done. I pray for the people there. Hard to believe that only 30 years ago they were more or less a first world economy. It ought to be a cautionary tale of how quickly a strongman can screw stuff up with the support of public willing to turn their heads because they're getting promised what they think they want.
  10. On a related note, I hear Werner Herzog's Into the Inferno was great.
  11. That's one of my favorite rifles.
  12. Here's the article that should have been quoted: http://www.castpics.net/subsite2/GeneralReference/The Myth of Arsenic.pdf
  13. Who knew there was enough farmed venison from to support an effort like this? I love the occasional Arby's sandwich when I'm on the road, but if I was a shareholder I'd love to see them stick to one menu for a year or two.
  14. "Vote for Jeff Johnson. He a good guy."
  15. We'll get you to the dark side eventually
  16. I'm so sorry to hear this. Know that you're in our prayers. Please let me know personally if there's anything as a community we can do to help.
  17. Holly Williams is on his new For Better, or Worse album that dropped a couple of weeks ago. His cover of George Jones' Color of the Blues with Susan Tedeschi on the same album may be one of my favorite songs of the year so far. And, I've got to give a shout out - I heard it first on 89.5FM - the new Americana station running out of MTSU. If you're in receiving distance, it's definitely worth a listen.
  18. I'm just glad these are spoken for...
  19. Congrats! Enjoy whatever comes next.
  20. Our off-exchange plan got axed, too. I expect to make it look better when they get sued. My healthy family of five will pay $10,134 in premiums this year with a $12,800 deductible. Our family has paid $1800 and BCBST has paid $970 in bills related to doctors visits, etc. I'd sure take that kind of profitability in my business. My wife is beyond angry.
  21. Somebody is going to shoot one of these clowns. And everybody is going to think they had it coming.
  22. At the very least it seems like some VA administrators, two senators, at least one congressman and the president himself ought to get a letter naming your son by name and expressing our disappointment in your sons treatment from each of the 26,579 members of TGO.
  23. Randall, I am devestated along with you. This makes me sick to my stomach. I saw the title of the post and literally teared up. I am so sorry! Words cannot even describe the emotions that I feel - and I'm certain that they don't hold a candle to your's and your wife's. There are good providers in the VA who care deeply about our soldiers. But they're handicapped by a bureaucratic system that I'm afraid can't be fixed. We need to burn it down and start over. The politicians that profit on "fixing it" while asking us to be patient should be in prison. Our best and brightest give our country the best years of their lives. And in return they come home and are ignored by a system that would prefer they'd just go away. How many more of our kids have to lose their lives like this? This has to stop. Words seem hopeless in times like these, but I will keep your family in my prayers. If there is anything that any of us on TGO can do, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
  24. Agreed. Unfortunately amassing the skills to make that transition may be as significant as the ones people in low skill jobs face today. I probably have the, "learn to code and you'll always be able to feed your family" conversation at least once a week. There is so little motivation to move when the pressure is low, though. And when times do get tough - then it's almost always too late. As the saying goes, "the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."
  25. Truthfully, I wonder what the "information workers" with their business degrees are going to do when they get replaced by an API? It's manufacturing today. It's fast food tomorrow. But it'll come into the management ranks before the Gen X'ers retire. There's some truth to the statement that if you can't find your job being done by a snake or cat in a Richard Scarry book, it's probably not a real job.
