  1. Picked up my new AR.  Armalite AR 7.62x39 flat top.  The best of both worlds.  Also picked up a few 28 rnd mags to go with it.  If I figure out how to post pics, I will send some up.  :)  BTW, $950   :woohoo:

  2. I have 1.5 acres and mow it with a 1995 MTD 14.5HP 42 inch cut riding mower.  That little thing is a tank.  She doesn't look too pretty anymore, but she fires up every season without fail.  All I've ever done to it is replace the battery once, give her fresh oil and air filter once a season, and sharpen the mulching blades.  Speaking of that, I highly recommend a mulching kit.  It cuts down need for fertilizer and you don't have to bag grass clippings.  Oh, and I wired in some auto driving lights for the early sunsets in the Fall...

One day I'm going to buy a used Smart Car and add blades to it.  LOL

I don't own a weedeater.  I designed my landscape so all areas are cut with the rider.   :)

  3. I ride, although I guess I look like an old man doing it... I have a Schwinn 8 speed beach cruiser, and the wife has the ladies model with PINK rims!  HAHA!  We enjoy riding out in Alcoa on the greenway and taking a picnic lunch.  I've even taken it to cades cove and rode it there.

  4. I use auto trader to shop for new cars and trucks.  Last time I was shopping for an 01 Durango with the 5.9 (in 03).  This ride was for towing my boat and camping... I have an Accord for daily commuting.  No dealer in Knoxville could or would help me.  Found one in Nashville with 10K miles on the odo.  Drove out there and bought it, then about 23K loaded.  Driving home, I couldn't help but think about all those stupid car dealer commercials and how they wasted their money.

My next Dodge will have a Cummins.  They are tow beasts and get 27-30 mpg.

FWIW, I don't buy a new ride until I need it, and when I buy I'll buy it broken in.  Let some other idiot lose 5K driving it off the lot new.  LOL  I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan, so I pay myself a car payment to another bank account every month so I don't have to pay to use someone else's $$.  Saves a TON of cash... for ammo!

In case you didn't know, Pearson is the fine corporation behind the ACT/SAT, TCAPS, most standardized testing and textbooks.  All hail the mighty Pearson who masterfully manipulates and indoctrinates our children.

What's worse, teachers are teaching to the test due to data driven outcomes reported to the state who decides if those numbers are good enough.  Further, TN DOE tracks scores among a stratified student base, by ethnicity.  Wait, not really.  Col. A is Caucasians.  Col. B is Ethnic Minority.  (Blacks and Hispanics)  But they removed from Col. B the Asians, and put them under Col. A.  Why would that be exactly?  Looks like cooking the books to me.

    Rant off.  :)

  6. Wow!  Thanks for all the great replies!  I took an hour and went over to Academy Sports and did some "peeping".  Saw plenty of optics from $99-$499 or so.  I'm thinking I would like mil dot recticles, but didn't see any on the display.  I'll continue the hunt.  Thank you all for the help!

  7. Thanks Richard, it will be used for target shooting.  I've always used iron sights and I literally know nothing about scopes and optics, as I've never bought one.  I'm reading as much as I can here to figure out what would be best.  I actually feel a little embarrassed about not knowing alot about them, but I'm getting older and irons are getting blurry... LOL

  8. Hi Guys,

I'm shopping for a scope for my new 308 Bushie.  My normal shooting distance is from 100 to 250 yards, but I may want to go out further as well.  Anyone have any scope suggestions for this platform?  PS: Not looking to spend a ton... but want good quality and dependability.

    Ideas?
