  1. Is there a 7.62 x 39 config for the AR? I have alot of that ammo...
  2. ABC is a joke, and their ratings reflect it. This is the network who brought you Peter Jennings, a frustrated Canadian, to spew forth the news. Hmmmm. CBC and ABC? We never see them on the air at the same time... could it be????
  3. Speaking of parks, Chicagoans are wringing their hands over so much gun violence in Grant Park according to WGNonline. When I read the story I thought, "see what all those restrictive laws have gotten that city"? I posted a comment to that effect on the website. They never posted it. Figures. But 5 or 6 folks were wondering how to get a carry permit. Good luck with that. They will not issue. Why? The city belongs to the thugs.
  4. Thanks for the replies all. I have a nice milled Bulgarian AK... she comes out on special occasions. Is building an AR a better way to go that an outright purchase?
  5. I'm running with my SA 1911 Champion w/hollow points with an extra clip. It's my other appendage, and shoots tighter groups. lol
  6. The 2nd rule posted looks like it applies to CHECKED baggage which is carried under the bus. A zero tolerance policy for unruly behavior weapons et al? lol Sounds like a school system. I'd carry in a heartbeat.
  7. Well, all of the above... I like target shooting at 125 yds to 200 yds. I mostly use iron sights but am thinking scope as my eyes sorta get, ahem... OLDER. I'll never turn down a good tingle from a girl or a gun.
  8. Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a new rifle. But I can't decide what to purchase. Maybe you all can help. Here's what I had in mind Option 1: AR10A2, Armalite with black furnitire, flat top Option 2: AR10A2, Armalite with black furnitire, H bar Option 3: AR15, Colt, NATO Option 4: AR15 Bushmaster, NATO Option 5: Suggestion Box... lol Have a great day everyone!
  9. Just found this thread. I think the new poster is sadly misinformed. I pray that he does not find himself a victim of crime (as I do all of us Americans.) Further, he seems to be an educated person, albeit incorrect as far as his assumptions regarding firearms and self-defense (er, "defence" for our Canadian friends). I would encourage him to read, study and look at the facts regarding HCP and violent crime. Remember young man, college is about being able to research and form a hypothesis based on established fact and stats. Don't let someone else tell you what to think. Investigate it as you did in school. Remember those research papers? You got a zero for not footnoting or citing fact sources. There was a reason for that. Name calling does nothing for arguments and is typically used by those with weak positions. You sound somewhat liberal. That's ok. I'm not, but some here are as well. I might suggest that some of the pillars of liberalism are the ability to keep an open mind, and the embracing of multiculturalism. Not just as it applies to race or gender, but to those of differing opinions and social substrata. The HCP and self defense community is a large segment of society based on traditional American values of protecting the "little guy" (or defenseless), home and property. We also laud hard work and fair play. And those values are something most Americans tend to admire. So given this stance, most of the HCP and self-defense community will find thuggery an affront to their core values and take measures to prevent it from happening to them and their loved ones at home and in public. The State of TN has recognized this fact and enacted legislation accordingly. So, if you wish to take up this challenge, let us know what you find in your research. And by the way, I'm still curious as to what kind of firearm you own. If it hasn't been out in a while, it may be time to clean it.
  10. I'm amazed that with such strong gun laws there that the gang bangers still shoot everything up! Uh, NOT. Yesterday they shot up a funeral. Perfect.
  11. Dave, I'm not acting on emotion. Simple logic and over 20 years of experience in business. I am also a public relations consultant entrusted by clients in several states to look over and manage their media coverage. The scenario you paint is a risk, but with proper PLANNING and preparation, it is easily avoided by even a new graduate in this science. Most in the media (locally) are highly misinformed and are very busy chasing the scanner, looking over pitched CI stories, and the poli beat. I'd be glad to outline a strategy with you if you want to contribute to the planning. And the way I see it, if you are squeamish about asserting your Federal 2nd amendment rights, rights as a TN permit holder and think that makes us a "special interest group" then I kind of feel sorry for you. Future generations will ask us what we did to preserve their rights. I'm not going to look into their eyes and answer with "but I could've, should've, or would've.
  12. Thanks for the reply David, and you may be right in some cases. Perhaps it would be better to flood a place that welcomes us and spending lots of our hard earned cash there and making it known who we are and WHY we chose their establishment. Word travels fast in this economy.
  13. Good thought. We should tip the server what our bill would have been. All I'm saying is that it may take 2 or three actual random protests before some business get the message and act in the best interest of their wallets. This country was built on freedoms and good old fashioned capitalism. I simply think that there ought to be a visible way to let them know how important we are to the overall economic health of this state. Everything we have in this country we had to fight for. I do not advocate violence in any way. In order to affect change (yes, I said it! lol) we must be VISIBLE, peaceful and effective.
  14. I was wondering if anyone would join me in a peaceful protest of those restaurants that will not welcome us. My idea is to have many of us show up to the targeted eatery in large numbers and be seated during their busiest time on a Friday or Saturday night. We then all order a tea and have conversation for as long as we can hold out before being kicked out. No food or alcohol orders. Each of us, when asked to leave, hand to the manager a preprinted card with a blank filled in detailing how much we have spent in the restaurant in the last year, and what we would have spent today IF they had only chosen to be inclusive of us law abiding permit holders. It would also be a great way to get to know others on the board and others that support our cause.
  15. Well, for those of you that don't know, I fired off a letter to Hooters explaining my disappointment with their new policy. Got a response today. (Original letter was deleted by the server issues we have been having.) "We at the Hooters Hotline received your comments today regarding our concealed weapons policy. Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments. Guest feedback is always welcome at Hooters. In areas where concealed weapons are allowed, we do post a sign that says firearms and other weapons are not permitted on the premises. Thankfully, it is a choice we have the freedom to make. We respect those customers who decide not to patronize our business because of this decision." I don't know what to say... their loss. Only with me they stand to lose my family, my clients and most of our employees. <sigh>
  16. Gotta call it straight on this one guys. That's one ugly rifle. I really didn't know PlaySkool made gun stocks. Sheesh. Give me an old fashioned Armalite AR-10 and day over that unit.

    AR-15 Jam

Good thing you noticed the problem. That type of misfire will get you seriously hurt. I would think it is an ammo problem but I would consult the factory direct on both counts. You didn't run over the barrel with your car did you? JK.
  18. I've never been accused of having a limp wrist, even at my age. Seriously though... I don't get to the range as often as I should. But this happens too often for it to be grip error.
  19. AHA! I knew this was common... looks like I have a type III failure to extract issue. Great reference link, thanks! Looks like I may need an extractor. Nuts. Is this a costly item? I'm not a gunsmith... I'd have to have it done. Could it have something to do with my habit of loading a round into the chamber before inserting the clip giving me a +1?
  20. Was using Winchester 230 gr. target. Gun was clean and oiled up. I keep it that way...
  21. Thanks everyone for your replies! Hopefully I'll find a hunting buddy this Fall! Then the master BBQ artist will bring forth the goodness. (Modest, aren't I?) lol
  22. Hi everyone, I was at the range the other day and got disgusted with the performance of my Springfield Champ 1911. The spent cartridge will not exit the weapon properly every three or four shots. Sometimes it will stovepipe, sometimes just hang halfway out of the chamber. In any case, when it happens I have to lock back the slide, eject the mag, hold her at a 45 degree incline and gently shake out the brass. It exits down through the mag area. It has been about a year since I shot this weapon. What really bugs me is I'm super accurate with it. I need it to function right every time. It is my primary carry weapon. What causes this and how do I remedy it? Thanks in advance for your help! EDIT: Mod, this may belong in the Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting forum. Please reassign at your discretion.
  23. I have a Russian SKS with a scope mount. Would that work?
  24. Ok, in all my life I've never been on a deer or big game hunt and I would like to try it out this Fall. I've read over alot of the FAQs and postings. What should I do first? How does one determine where to go hunt? I know, I know, sounds dumb to y'all but I've been a shooter a long time not a hunter. Any and all help appreciated. Looks like I need a lic, BG stamp for starters.
  25. Could be a Vole. Some get larger than chipmunks but look like large ones. They are all brown with no stripes but a small tail. My cats used to bring those gifts by every so often.
