  1. I find it easier to reload a three ring binder than a book.
  2. Best in middle TN is Janet Songer in Winchester. She has other attorneys refer to her from Chattanooga and Nashville. Plus when you visit her office you can drop by Hero Gear... it's only a couple of miles away.
  3. Wonder if they're going to take the long rifle away from the cheerleader who dresses up as Davy Crocket? Or maybe he killed that bear with a walking stick.
  4. Second on the Neos. It's less expensive than the Ruger, easier to strip and clean, shoots great and comes with the rail you'll need when you decide to strap something else on it. If you're stuck on the Ruger, get a used Mark II instead of the Mark III. I'm trying to save up for the Neos myself.
  5. Umm... I've taken my RAV4 off road and hauled as much as the little puppy could handle .. and then some. I will admit it kinda sucks with that 4-cylinder, but it could handle snow and ice covered hills in WI and muddy corn fields in TN.
  6. Howdy from Tullahoma!
  7. Is the Jewish Community Center posted?
  8. I spent 11 years living in WI and had several job offers in Chicago. The gun ban is one of the reasons I never considered any of them. I hate even driving through that state.
  9. I miss my LCP. I never had a problem with it. I did put a couple of rounds through the Keltec and it seemed to pop a little harder. It had been purchased for a wife... and I saw multiple limp wrist eject failures on it while we were both at the range. The fact that the LCP will lock the slide back is of functional importance to me.
  10. Another vote on the Beretta Neos. It's definitely less expensive and a lot easier to take apart than the Rugers. It's easy to handle and very fun to shoot. I've been quoted $250 for a new one.
  11. I should really read up more on DB as he used to hang out with my great-great-great-great-great grandfather, William Bean. Bean built a cabin in 1769 near where the Watauga River and Boone's Creek unite. He is acknowledged as the first European settler of the state.
  12. Tennessean ... great-great-great-great-great grandfather came across the mountains with Daniel Boone. William Bean built a cabin in 1769 near where the Watauga River and Boone's Creek unite. He is acknowledged as the first European settler of the state. Oh yeah, I probably have some Melungeon blood in me as well.
  13. Before Texas passed a concealed carry permit law, open carry was legal. That permit law made open carry illegal... I even think Texas is one of the states where one must be careful about weapon printing and accidental exposure.
  14. At least one court is on record limiting that individual right to DC (and probably Guam, Puerto Rico, etc)... unless I missed something.
  15. Don't overlook the Beretta Neos ... it's a dang fine .22 that comes with a rail ready for any future toys you might want to add.
  16. I'm with you!
  17. +1 for Terry Walden's place. It's kinda like going out into the woods to shoot. Nothing fancy, but is well berm'd. Also a rifle range... same price for both. A buddy from Georgia upon his first visit said he needed banjo music while driving up to Terry's store. Oh yeah, bring a rake and you can harvest lotsa brass from the dirt. If you want to camp, there's a private campground at the end of the road or your a few miles from Old Stone Fort State Park. Just opened in Moore County outside Tullahoma is another outdoor pistol range at Hoselton Ventures... $8 for the day. So two outdoor ranges that are uncrowded about 30min apart... and just minutes from both George Dickel and Jack Daniels distilleries.
  18. Wondering if other places are like this.... "That concludes the meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. I now call to order the meeting of the Beer Board."
  19. Hero Gear in Winchester.
  20. Interesting comments from the TV guys in the first quarter about what Crompton was doing so far is something just about any h.s. QB could do.
  21. Stay in Townsend at these great family-owned cabins... Tipton's Cabin Rentals in Townsend Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Townsend is the back entrance to the Smokies... it's quiet! These cabins are NOT on any cliff (see note below).
  22. Great Dane! They're AWESOME with kids. However they attach themselves heavily to their people and will want to be inside (crate is recommended) at night. Two stories about our Dane... 1. Electric company didn't inform us they were sending people out to trim the trees. My wife let the dog out for her morning potty/play break and she spotted the guys in the back yard. One ran up the ladder and the other hopped the fence. She was in pure defensive mode and would not have done anything but bark if either guy had stayed on the ground. Once my wife got out there to introduce her to them she was ready to play with them. 2. Wife and newborn baby were in the bedroom at the far end of the house from the garage. The door between the garage and deck was left open and the back door was unlocked. My wife had left a tall laundry basket in the kitchen to block the dog's access to the back door and basement stairs. Dog had been laying on the couch in living room then went crazy nuts barking. Wife got up to investigate and found the laundry basket had been moved halfway into the kitchen in a way the dog would have not likely done. Apparently some fool decided to walk into our house and was maybe 10 steps inside before being confronted by a 120lb Great Dane. We suspect he/she had to go home and change shorts. BTW, the we had no issues with the Dane and the newborn. We lost her to bone cancer before our daughter's 1st birthday, but know of others who have incredible stories of Dane and child interactions. A friend in Winchester got a Dane puppy about 2 months ago. Their 6 year old was afraid of most dogs but has been fine with this one. When we had our Dane spayed, they tacked her tummy to her ribcage so there was no chance for bloat... which is a risk with any dog, but especially large dogs. Oh yeah, we owned this dog while living in Wisconsin and she loved the cold. The only dog I would keep outside would be a beagle or hound... and even those would come inside on really cold nights.
  23. You need a camera that you can manually set ISO, shutter and aperture and some way to hold the camera absolutely still for the time it takes you to change settings for multiple exposures... tripod would be best. The software to combine the elements is cheap. Nice stuff... doesn't look cartoonish.
  24. Note TNews simply reports "he said, she said" without bringing in any outside facts. It's like the debate doesn't exist elsewhere and Mathis' big issue hasn't already been addressed by the AG. Someone please write a letter to the editor pointing out Mathis is ignoring the AG's opinion and law denying carry at school functions in public parks. I need to do business with the school and as long as Mathis is athletic director, I don't need to cross him any more than I have. http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2009/OP/OP129.pdf
