  1. Colt returned to the civilian market a month or two back.
  2. Thanks for bringing that one up. I totally forgot about it. So yeah, bad ideas all around.
  3. Then at this point I say do what you will, but I would HIGHLY recommend that you do not mix the vagaries of the ATF’s NFA rules with TN’s rules on carry permits. Carry a handgun that is undoubtedly a handgun where no argument can be made that it’s not a handgun. Not that it’s a handgun because you removed one part or it’s a day that starts with T. Attempting to walk a fine line of “just legal enough” doesn’t mix well with self defense laws. The game you’re attempting to play here doesn’t ever work out well for the folks without unlimited money for attorneys (the government). This is coming from a dude who generally is of the opinion of “do whatever you want, just understand that when you break stupid laws, the punishment doesn’t change because the law is stupid.” So decide what you want to do and put your big boy pants on because you decided to cross the line, or stay well clear of it because it only takes one politically motivated prosecutor to ruin your life. Good luck with whatever choice you make.
  4. Yes. But remember, if it’s registered as an SBR, it is one regardless of whether or not you have the bits on it. It’s legally had its status changed. Once it gets on the registry, it is what it is unless you have it removed from the registry. So no work arounds here. If you want to have a loaded firearm on your person (not in a vehicle) in the state of TN for the purposes of self defense (hunting regs are different and not applicable here) it MUST meet the legal definition of a pistol. No way around that.
  5. In TN having a firearm and ammo on your person at the same time is considered having a loaded firearm. There are no technicalities for the mag not being inserted like in other states. If you are wanting to carry a long arm equivalent, you’ll need to have an AR/AK/rifle caliber pistol to meet legal requirements.
  6. Yes. They are the same as a long gun. No, they are not covered by your permit.
  7. Damn son! Just digging around finding a $1k+. Nice humblebrag.
  8. When was the last time you logged in? There was a recent purge of inactive accounts. Maybe it got caught up in that. Regardless of what caused it, glad to have you back.
  9. That’s some serious NIMBYist BS right there. That sort of crap really chaps my ass. It reeks of elitist classism.
  10. Radian Raptor is exactly what you’re looking for.
  11. Cali is less north vs south and much more the coast vs everything else.
  12. For a inexpensive PCC, I’d say throw on a Primary Arms micro dot and call it done.
  13. Right? That’s entirely counter to everything I’ve ever learned about percussive maintenance.
  14. I’m pretty sure it isn’t.
  15. My favorite Doors track.
  16. A slightly different musical instrument than most of y’all. You can tell from the fingerboard and the note diagram on it that I’m not an experienced fiddler, but it is enjoyable, if quite challenging to learn. It’s a Fiddlerman Master violin and their “3 star” Pernambuco bow. Not anything super special or extra nice, but a nice step above a basic student violin. I didn’t realize until I went to post the pic that it was kinda blurry. I’ll re-edit to add better pics later.
  17. You now have an “enhanced” permit. No changes to the permit. Just a fancier name.
  18. The feds wanted them to break their encryption and give them a back door that would have allowed them to break anyone’s iPhone at will. That backdoor would have created and insecurity that would have allowed any two bit hacker in. Make no mistake, the feds can break into your phone if they want to. They eventually broke into the same phones you mention. Apple just isn’t setting the precedent that they’ll compromise everyone’s security without a warrant.
  19. I’ve come to the conclusion that Google is a legitimately evil corporation. More so than most. They refuse to work with the us.mil yet will happily work with Chinese government to develop algorithms that are used to clamp down on dissenters. Apple may not be great, but #### Google.
  20. https://ij.org/press-release/tennessee-property-owners-score-early-win-in-lawsuit-against-warrantless-trespassing-surveillance-on-private-land/ Benton county judge denied TWRA motion to dismiss.
  21. Thanks for the very public votes of confidence @TGO David & @MacGyver. I hate that a misunderstanding about the post led to a long time member getting banned. Only the initial misunderstanding though, his actions after that were on him. To everyone else, I always make calls based on what I think is best for this community. I am a human and therefore fallible. If you think I made a mistake, have a question for me, shoot me a PM. I’ll be happy to hear you out. That’s not me trying to justify or explain myself to y’all. I’m confident in my role here. I just want y’all to know I really value y’all. This community here is responsible for my closest friendships on this planet. Seriously, the group of friends I talk to every single day I made here. Y’all are important to me, even those I butt heads with. This place is a real community, so keep that in mind and take care of each other.
  22. Sorry to hear that. My condolences.
