  1. He’s a good time.
  2. What the hell? This is why. https://www.housingwire.com/articles/spike-in-lumber-prices-boosts-construction-costs/ This is obnoxious as I’m needing some lumber for target stands. Crap.
  3. Looks like I need to go to Miami. I’ve been wanting one of those tickets from somewhere, anywhere. This far I’ve not managed to get one. It’s disappointing.
  4. I always love these threads. You have someone from out of state asking about shooting on their own property outside the city limits (usually from a commie state). They are invariably met with confusion as everyone from here is basically like “why couldn’t you? It’s your property.”
  5. Barring that, invite the deputy when he shows up.
  6. Finally got to my mailbox to pick mine up. The knife is light, and very handy. The sheath is crap, but era correct. I’m quite happy with it. I’m probably gonna have a kydex sheath made for it that’ll mate up to my plate carrier.
  7. Welcome! If the land you are looking at is in an unincorporated area outside of the city limits, the Rogersville PD will be of no assistance because it’s not their jurisdiction. As far as the county goes, you may contact the Sheriff’s office to see if there are any county ordinances prohibiting shooting on private land. That said, I don’t know of any county in the state that has that prohibition. As a general rule of thumb though, as long as you are shooting in a safe manner not near or at any structures you don’t own (your neighbor’s house) you are good to go.
  8. When I was working at a gun shop in Memphis we had a used one of those fancy guns come in with “Sinaloa” etched in the grips and filled in with a gold color.
  9. I’ve got one 6.5CM bolt gun (Bergara B-14 HMR) and I adore it. I’ve shot a 6.5CM AR before and it was really nice as well. The cartridge performs in either platform so I think that’s a matter of personal preference. If you have the builder’s itch, go AR. If you decide on a bolt gun, take a look at the Bergara, it’s a magnificent rifle and I think you’ll love it every bit as much as me and all my friends that have them.
  10. 6.5 Creedmoor would be the pill to pick in my opinion.
  11. Yeager knows everyone takes some of his dirt. There ain’t no way to avoid it. It’s in the gun, the magazines, clothes, pockets, and even your damn underwear.
  12. When appropriate, yup. One of my pistols still has that red Camden clay ground into the texture of the grip.
  13. I always loved British tv shows.
  14. True, but I look at it like this. Imagine you’re walking a tightrope 6” off the ground. If a strong wind comes up and blows you over, you could fall just right and die, but it isn’t likely. Now if you’re walking that tightrope over the Grand Canyon, that wind you can’t control has a much bigger effect and severe end result.
  15. My condolences. I know you loved her and gave her a great life. I am honored that I got to meet y’all before her passing.
  16. I would put money (but not my life!) on them ordering them from Wish.com. Which means they’re getting plates of styrofoam and raw mild steel. All the reputable manufacturers have lead times of around 1-3 months.
  17. Hey, even if the gospel is preached out of bad motives, it’s still being preached. So if it gets good folks to think, “hey, maybe I should get some of that too.” I’m about it. I’m a firm believer that not getting holes put in you is more important than putting holes in other people.
  18. This is a pretty good primer, but it’s a deep rabbit hole. There is also a lot of controversy in the industry over the use of different materials, but you have to weigh your needs vs costs.
  19. I appreciate it. I do believe that often little things go a long way towards maintaining civility.
  20. I’ve wagged my finger at folks for using derisive names for Trump, and I’ll hold to the same line here. Political discussion and debate is debased when we use unseemly names like “Black Jesus” or “Cheeto Jesus” (one I used and regret during the 16 campaign) to refer to public figures. Call folks whatever you want elsewhere, but here, please use their actual names. It’s a fine line, but one I’ve drawn here. Call Obama a liar, Trump a fascist, AOC and Bernie commies if you want, I don’t really care. But call them all by their names when you do.
  21. Then you should say that. While it doesn’t doesn’t have the same punch as saying he called it a hoax, it’s also more accurate and less easily dismissible. On the flip side, if one were to look at my posts since this all began you would find my views on it have changed significantly as well. I started off believing it was every bit as serious and deadly as the most chicken little of the press would have folks believe. I’m decidedly less convinced of that being the case than I was 6 months ago.
  22. I used to be. Until I wasn’t.
