I really dig that. -
I want folks to be responsible with firearms as well. I don’t want the government to be able to arbitrarily decide what that looks like. Just the same as with speech. Folks are responsible for their actions with a firearm or their speech. Prior restraint by the government is an abomination and anathema to liberty and the individual’s rights.

This argument doesn’t sound any less ridiculous in this context than when the Bloomberg shills try to use it to claim that the 2A only covers muskets. If you have to jump through hoops and ask for government permission to exercise a right, it isn’t a right.

Sounds like a good reason to keep it. There’s a hard truth so many folks never seem to understand. (Not saying that’s you.) Aftermarket upgrades to vehicles like engine or suspension mods result in near zero ROI when you go to sell the vehicle. If you’re handy with a wrench it’s almost always a better idea to return the vehicle to stock and sell the parts to someone who is actually looking for them. -
I have a Baofeng A-58 inbound. Went with that model because it has a different attachment interface that’s sealed against water/dust.

Sounds like somebody’s been workin for the railroad all the live-long day.

I Have been doing a lot of research on HAM radio as of late. I’m going to be getting my license in the not too distant future. Get a programming cable and download the Chirp software(free) so you can program your units. Find out what channels the local emergency services use, assuming they aren’t already on digital trunk systems, and program those in if you want to listen to them. Also find out what channels the civilian emergency folks in the area use so you can utilize them in case of dire emergency. Regardless of how you program them, even if you program them for FRS or MURS channels, it is illegal for you to hit the transmit button without a license. They transmit at a power level you are required to have a license to operate.

Do you disagree with the ponzi description? Ido give the early investors credit for doing their part by having a crap ton of kids to support the system. Their kids didn’t. I guess I could have also described it the way that it is legally set up based on SCOTUS case law. Social Security and Medicare are each two individual programs. A general payroll tax and a welfare benefit. Yep I said it. Social Security is legally indistinguishable from welfare.
-
You actually are wrong. The 50 years you worked and paid in was paying for the people who came before you. Social Security and Medicare have always been a Ponzi scheme. Like all ponzi’s, early investors come out well. Later investors, not so much.

Yes. We are not heavy users so it works well for us. If we had chronic health issues it would not be a good option.
-
We are actually members of a private clinic in Jackson that offers a prepaid number of visits and discounts on labs another services.
-
This is what I would have if it were a real option. It is exactly what is reasonable for a young-early middle aged self employed person in reasonably good health. Instead the idea is to rape us for all we are worth to subsidize coverage we don’t want or need. As an example, my wife has had her tubes tied and my daughter is 9 years old. We have no need or want for maternity coverage, but must carry it in any insurance plan. It’s stupid.
-
I don’t have insurance. For me to have insurance for my family last year would have been over $26k in premiums plus deductible.
-
For as much as I hate the idea, I’m pretty well convinced that medicare for all is inevitable for that reason.
-
Haha. Retirement isn’t going to happen for me. I’m gonna work until I’m dead.
-
****To be on the actual topic**** I too am glad the murderer is dead. These stories are why I carry. The murderer’s death, the effectiveness of the legal system, and all the other issues are secondary to the fact that a wife and child are now without a husband and father. I can’t be a provider and a protector for my family if I’m not alive. That’s not to blame the victim, but a self reminder to fight with all I’ve got to be there for them.

Most forensic “science” isn’t science. It’s complete bunk. In fact, it is more and more accepted that the only reliable, repeatable science is DNA. Pretty much everything else is junk. I only bring this up to emphasize the point that any DA or Judge that denies defendants access to DNA evidence from old crimes is not interested in justice or actually finding guilty parties, only upholding convictions. This is a pretty decent article that delves into the problems with the fanciful imaginary world of forensics. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/03/reversing-legacy-junk-science-courtroom

Update, delivery made this morning. Nashville, y’all still got some work to do about your drainage issues.
-
While I was at my daughter’s birthday party my codriver was attempting to deliver a load at a warehouse near the Nashville airport. In the middle of the unload they stopped and told him they were all going home because of the flooding on the property. Before he could get the trailer sealed back up and rolling the water was above his knee. Hoping there is still a facility to deliver the rest of the product to tomorrow.
