Memphis Folks: Good Lunch Spots Near Memphis?
Chucktshoes replied to E4 No More's topic in General Chat
What do you think you’d want to eat? If you want BBQ, I got an answer for that. If you want catfish, I got an answer for that. You want other random food, I got answers for that. Folks can say what they want about Memphis, but we got the best food in the state. -
They got over that. I scored a case of 9mm from them a couple months back.

You are speaking my language good sir. I have two. One is a 1990 produced MK III that I had refinished and fancied up. The other is a Charles Daly Hi Power (only US rollmarked HP) that I bought here on TGO. The CDHP is essentially a US built clone made with Hungarian FEG parts. That one has been cerakoted black and is currently at the Smith to be milled to accept a Holosun 507k. I love the HiPower. It’s the 1911, perfected. I’m not at home, and I can’t find my pictures of them, though I know I’ve posted some here before. Sorry I don’t have any pics of them for you.

Currently I’m without one, but I’ve used a bunch. Avoid the Rand McNally branded garbage like the plague. Several of my friends use and like the Cobra branded ones.

Optics ready pistolas... Somethin to play with or the " Real Deal "..?
Chucktshoes replied to leroy's topic in Handguns
I haven’t. I’m really terrible about giving reviews of stuff. The quick and dirty is that I like it. I really like the sights on it. Very quick and intuitive. It’s a little snappier than the Sig P365, but honestly, I like the grip texture a bit better. The dual layer sound gimmicky, and maybe it is, but I find it grippy in the hand without being abrasive in the holster. I’ve put around 500ish rds through it with zero issues. Also, don’t buy Swampfox optics. Just have the slide’s recoil lugs milled to accept a trijicon or a Holosun. -
My condolences. I can’t even imagine.

In state con carry has no reciprocity. As an example, Vermont, the original Con Carry state, has no permitting system. Citizens of Vermont have to acquire non-resident permits from other states to allow them to carry outside of Vermont. So while I absolutely desire a true Constitutional Carry bill to pass, I will keep my permit as I do require the ability to carry outside of TN.
-
The ConCarry bills only remove the necessity to get a permit. They do not affect the permit system that already exists. The permit will still be there for those that wish to acquire one.

I do have to admit that I’ve developed a real fondness for the Eotech style donut of death dot/circle reticle. It’s fast when I want it to be and precise when I need it to be. -
Not only is ATN trash, they were also guilty of ITAR violations in helping export 3rd Gen night vision gear to Russia.

If you’re planning to lock the gun itself, yeah. If you’re planning on using one on the case, maybe. The lock must be able to secure the lid closed. If the lock allows the edge of the case to be cracked open, no.
-
It’s not necessary to use a TSA lock on a gun case. I didn’t use one last time I flew and won’t use one. Outer luggage yes, but not the gun case.

A while back David purged a bunch of long dormant accounts from the database. Those are the posts that remain. -

First page on DDG as well, but at the bottom of the first page. -
Which means more time to call them.

WARNING! Tisas 1911 is a DO NOT BUY or... (Tanker's Revenge)
Chucktshoes replied to a topic in Handguns
Yep. He got banned years ago and then this thread kept popping up again, and again, and again taking up a life of its own. IIRC Tanker really hated cops and used to post every single story about police misconduct he found. A good chunk of his posts disappeared in one of the Gen Politics purges. So somebody added the Tanker’s Revenge to the title and it’s still going. If I had to venture a guess it’s because “Tisas” is a very unique word so the search function works very well and always points to this one thread. -
Optics ready pistolas... Somethin to play with or the " Real Deal "..?
Chucktshoes replied to leroy's topic in Handguns
I apologize as I don’t have much experience with the aftermarket slide manufacturers. I have 3 pistols with optics. My Springfield Hellcat OSP which came factory ready. My Shadow Systems War Poet which came with an optic, and a Browning HiPower which is currently with my gunsmith getting its slide milled for an optic. I’m normally not one for milling the slide, but that one is a bit of a special case. It’s gonna get a rail installed as well. -

And that even after the Nashville prices have gone stupid. -

They are the real deal and as much of technological leap as optics were on rifles. My preferences are as follows. Milled slide > plate system. Direct attachment allows for a lower profile and a more solid mounting. Either purchase a new, precut slide, or whole new gun designed for the optic you want. If you decide you don’t like it, you can put the original slide back on and sell the aftermarket slide for a lower loss than a gun with a chunk missing from its OEM slide. For the optic, Trijicon RMR or Holosun. Everything else just comes up short. I have no opinion on the taller iron sights as my optics sit low enough in the slide to utilize the OEM standard sights. Only my opinion, and worth what you paid for it. -

I bet. Especially in the Bay Area I would imagine it’s a really, really foreign concept.
