  1. I’ve been giving @E4 No More hell about his broken tastebuds, but he should be thankful because apparently it could be far, far worse.
  2. Good luck. At least the schools are good in Memphis. It’s a great town and who knows, maybe the sketchier elements will make her a little more aware of the possible consequences of poor choices.
  3. What school?
  4. This was so my life when I lived in Memphis. “Hey! Youngblood!”
  5. The one on Madison in midtown wouldn’t be hard to hit if they ran straight through the city instead of taking the loop around.
  6. If you’re in the mood for pizza, there’s always Memphis Pizza Cafe. They do a crisp, St. Louis style cracker crust that I really dig. I never knew that that style was originated in St. Louis until I started spending a lot of time in MO.
  7. I gotta say, this thread has gone much more calmly than one might have expected. You get fans of BBQ from KC, Bama, and Memphis going in on it and you’ll normally find as heated of a debate as any found in the now departed politics section.
  8. White sauce is a heathen concoction that’s what happens when you leave bored white people alone in the kitchen too long.
  9. Gotta say that I 100% agree with @TGO Davidhere. I EDC a Shadow Systems War Poet (G19 analogue) with a Holosun 507C on it in a T1C AIWB holster. The comfort and draw is no different than my M&P without an optic in the exact same holster.
  10. This is an argument that has been raging for decades, and we won’t ever see eye to eye on it. At least not unless you experience a miracle and have your tastebuds healed.
  11. Dry rub is the way. I’ll take it every time over the ketchup on burnt beef they call BBQ in KC.
  12. Gus’s ain’t like Nashville hot chicken, but it ain’t supposed to be. I definitely prefer one over the other. Kinda sounds like you would be well served dropping into midtown and finding a random cafe.
  13. Memphis BBQ doesn’t exist outside of Memphis. But if you’re from KC, your tastebuds may have been irrevocably damaged in childhood. I’ll pray for ya.
  14. @MacGyvercalled it. He knows my picks. (Central is really good, but @Garufa is right. Go to the original on Central.) I’ll throw another one in there, Cozy Corner BBQ on N. Parkway it’s over by St. Jude. Get the Cornish Hens. They’re amazing. If you’re feeling catfish, go to Soulfish. If you want Mexican, Las Delicias is my pick. If you want some friend chicken, Gus’s Fried Chicken either downtown or on Mendenhall. Only those two as you won’t be anywhere near the original out in Mason. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are lots of great little cafes in midtown. Just pick any one and give it go. If you just want some good bar style sandwiches, burgers and such, Young Avenue Deli. Their cheese fries are the best. Its amazing how I didn’t get fat until after I left Memphis.
  15. What do you think you’d want to eat? If you want BBQ, I got an answer for that. If you want catfish, I got an answer for that. You want other random food, I got answers for that. Folks can say what they want about Memphis, but we got the best food in the state.
  16. They got over that. I scored a case of 9mm from them a couple months back.
  17. You are speaking my language good sir. I have two. One is a 1990 produced MK III that I had refinished and fancied up. The other is a Charles Daly Hi Power (only US rollmarked HP) that I bought here on TGO. The CDHP is essentially a US built clone made with Hungarian FEG parts. That one has been cerakoted black and is currently at the Smith to be milled to accept a Holosun 507k. I love the HiPower. It’s the 1911, perfected. I’m not at home, and I can’t find my pictures of them, though I know I’ve posted some here before. Sorry I don’t have any pics of them for you.
  18. Currently I’m without one, but I’ve used a bunch. Avoid the Rand McNally branded garbage like the plague. Several of my friends use and like the Cobra branded ones.
  19. I haven’t. I’m really terrible about giving reviews of stuff. The quick and dirty is that I like it. I really like the sights on it. Very quick and intuitive. It’s a little snappier than the Sig P365, but honestly, I like the grip texture a bit better. The dual layer sound gimmicky, and maybe it is, but I find it grippy in the hand without being abrasive in the holster. I’ve put around 500ish rds through it with zero issues. Also, don’t buy Swampfox optics. Just have the slide’s recoil lugs milled to accept a trijicon or a Holosun.
  20. I wonder what it would take to get the IRS involved since it is obvious that according to the letter of the law, the TN Sheriff’s Association is engaged in disallowed activity. I got jokes today. The government never goes after its own for wrongdoing.
  21. My condolences. I can’t even imagine.
  22. In state con carry has no reciprocity. As an example, Vermont, the original Con Carry state, has no permitting system. Citizens of Vermont have to acquire non-resident permits from other states to allow them to carry outside of Vermont. So while I absolutely desire a true Constitutional Carry bill to pass, I will keep my permit as I do require the ability to carry outside of TN.
