Browning HiPower, hands down.

I think it does. I can generally handle 100*in Phoenix better that 85* at home in Dyersburg.

TFA analysis of permitless carry

IIRC the incident took place in Bartlett at a city park and the gentleman in question never actually presented the weapon. He only warned the dude with the bat and had his hand on it, but never raised it. That’s the line the judge called out. If he had raised it and bat dude had reconsidered negating the need to fire, he would have been ok. Which to me reemphasizes the point that a firearm isn’t an item to use to verbally threaten or intimidate. It’s not a part of the equation until it must be part of the equation. I’m still trying to find either the thread or news article about it. -

Looks like a Glock with an ETS stendomag. -
That’s crazy. They used to have a quite large reloading section.

It is the actual cover image from the book Friday.

Yeah, his is really well done. I’ve seen a few different Shughart Specials. It really helps to have the information available of what others did for the build.

I’m thinking it’s getting about time for folks to learn the word “endemic”.
-
Hehe. Doesn’t everyone? I’m up to like 4 I think.

Ring have arrived, proper optic installed. *Pardon the mess on the bed. We’re packing for a trip to the lake.*

TFA analysis of permitless carry

You are correct on all points. Regarding the long gun, the statute does not specifically state it must be cased, so it’s up to you how you wish to transport it. That is of course since you are transporting it under your permit by TN Code, and not under FOPA rules. -
This was not what I thought this thread was going to be about. *zip*

Considering the amount of high quality course material from high quality trainers built around ECQC, I’d venture that a lot of smarter, better trained, and more experienced people than me would say that you are incorrect in that view. You’re not always going to see the attack coming. It is a possibility to end up on the ground with someone having hands on you fighting to get to/keep control of your defensive tools or having to make contact shots. It’s not an unknown or unconsidered issue. As an example, my Hellcat has a stand-off device built into its guide rod to prevent exactly the kind of issue that will result in a PDP having a dead trigger.

I would agree that if you’re in that position a whole lot is already wrong. So much wrong that having a dead gun would make it unfathomably worse. If it’s not a worry for you, that’s great. For some folks it will be a deal breaker. Regardless, the key is that folks are aware of this particular quirk in function.
-
@TGO Davidane anyone else who may be carrying or considering carrying the PDP for defensive use, there is information you need to be made aware of. I confirmed this flaw of function with folks I know who have one.

On the flip side, childhood mortality rate are waaaaaay lower than they were as well. So you know, there’s that.

I wanted to build a Shughart M-14 because if you’re gonna have one, it might as well be one modeled off the one used by one of the baddest men to wield it. I started with this M-14 clone from Bula Defense. Mounted an ARMS-18 optics rail and an Aimpoint CompM. I then acquired a surplus M-14 fiberglass stock. The army boys sure do love their duct tape. Once I got it stripped down, it was time to paint! As it sits now, it’s in what I refer to as the “movie configuration” ad it’s similar to what was used in the Black Hawk Down film. The CompM will end up coming off and being used on a retro AR build using the original hi-rise optic mount (carry handle gang gang). As of now there are a couple of bits that are either on the way, or requiring a little detailed work to mount. (Waiting on rings for my Aimpoint 5000 and the AIM-1/D needs a tape switch fabricated for it.) Updates to follow as the build is adjusted/completed.
