Ask him again in a week when he can post again.

I’ve only done it twice. I don’t know how to really describe it other than I just felt icky at the casino.
-
I don’t gamble. It’s not an activity I enjoy at all. Yet I would put hard money on this being the case.

For my part, it’s not a matter of “can“ it’s a matter of “feel comfortably saying did“. Those are two vastly different propositions.

I’m comfortable in saying and fully believe that all things work according to His will for the furtherance of His ends. I just am of the mind that we should be very cautious of laying that divine imprint on any specific instance. A pastor who has a YT channel I enjoy, Mike Winger, he said something once, and I don't remember exactly how he worded it, but the basic premise was: People love to chalk all sorts of things up to divine intervention. "God made the light turn green for me at that intersection", etc. When is it actually? The first thing to do is take what we know about who God is and what he wants to see happen. If you can't draw a direct line between the divine hand you thought you saw at work and the God you know from Scripture, than calm down. I guess what I’m trying to get at is that if we believe that God is at work at all times in all ways, in a sense, all is divine providence. What makes this moment deserving of special recognition and elevation? Is it God showing us action in an extraordinary way for His desires, or is it us ascribing extraordinary action to something because it aligns with our desires? I can’t answer that so I am simply advising caution when making statements regarding divine action. This excellent posts touches on what makes me uncomfortable about a lot of the divine action language that comes out surrounding Pres. Trump. It often walks very close, and sometimes crosses the point of elevating him in a manner that no man merits. My response to David covers the response to you, I just quoted you because I didn’t want to appear to be ignoring your response to me. Once again, I seek not to be dismissive or unduly critical, and offer these words with love and humility. If I seem extra cautious on this subject, it’s because I am.

That’s a good practice. It helps a great deal in being able to judge, whether or not the source is trying to play to an adversarial framing of the facts, or tickle your ears with what you want to hear.

I have not been one to hold the views of the southern preposterous lie center as anything of value in a very long time. Many years ago, they performed a valuable service, but have long since strayed from their original mission. as far as the article is self goes, the author absolutely has a particular viewpoint that they are trying to push. That’s something one should always be aware of in all media. Still am of the view that there may be data of value to consider here, we shall have a better idea in the fullness of time. Lastly, I don’t speak much about my faith because I do not want my weaknesses to push anybody away from drawing close to Christ. In this moment I feel compelled to speak up as a Christian though. Please accept these words with the humility and respect that they are offered. It is difficult enough to discern the intentions of man in any individual instance where they are unable to tell them to you. I find it a very risky proposition to ascribe divine motives to any event that cannot be truly tested by scripture. In this particular case, it risks, deifying a mortal man, and putting a divine mandate upon his shoulders. While I have openly expressed my feelings about President Trump, I am very grateful to God that he was not killed in this attempt on his life. I am praying for the injured, the dead, and their families. But please, to my brothers and sisters in Christ be very cautious before laying a divine imprint upon the events of Saturday.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2024/07/14/trump-shooting-gunman-father-ar-15/74401175007/ I’m starting to get the vibe that this may not have been as ideologically motivated as first assumed. It may very well be just a standard case of a disaffected weirdo looking for fame on his way out.

I put this thread on timeout for the moment in the hopes that we all will be able to lower the temperature and tensions, a little bit with a breather. In the meantime I will leave this for consideration and reflection.

Tracking. Thanks for the clarification. I did misunderstand the intent of your post.

Those restrictions still exist. They are still enforced by the state. It’s just that the agency tasked within enforcing them must follow the processes set for gaining access to private property. In other words, they must respect the liberties and natural rights enumerated in the constitution and have a sufficient reason that can be articulated to a judge to acquire a warrant. The state is subservient to the people, not the other way around. This is the proper manner of things.

The only thing around him that really could’ve taken the shot and caused a wound like that where the teleprompters and from the videos they were intact. When you watch at the exact moment of shooting, you realize that he turned his head right before the bullet got to him. It appears to me that if he had not done that the back of his skull would’ve been blown all over the people in the stands behind him.

No. We all kind of thirst for details in moments like this considering reports as of now, and what I can discern from the images and videos of what appears to be in AR style rifle. I’m going to assume that it was a 223/556.

As they were trying to usher him off the stage, he can be heard saying “wait, wait, wait” before looking out over the crowd and putting his fist up in the air.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head here. Somebody isolated out Trump‘s voice in the audio here and it pretty much boils down to him telling his Secret Service detail “yo guys, wait a minute. This #### is gonna go hard as ####!“ https://i.imgur.com/da2t88k.mp4 audio didn’t transfer through so I had to edit to provide you a direct link to the post.

I get that, and I don’t present what he said as being authoritative, but simply something to consider. There’s a lot of information coming out, and a lot of opinions being proffered. We are well within the window of the 72 hour rule and it is wise to not make any final decisions or judgments based upon the information available as of this moment. That said, while these guys do a lot of training, it is also the first time any of them have actually had to do their job in the sense of being in the moment they are training for.

Seems like I might have touched a nerve there. That ain’t him, but you wouldn’t know that. I do. I find his views based on his experiences of value to consider, or I wouldn’t have shared them. Folks can do with them what they will. It’s ok that one may be put off by an assertion that so directly contradicts the accepted narratives surrounding the SS. I mean, 20-30 years ago who would’ve imagined the FBI having the reputation that they have developed?

For those wondering about the ineptitude displayed by the Secret Service yesterday, I’m going to share the thoughts I’d a friend of mine who worked as a PMC in security capacities in and out of war zones. (He’s now a firefighter and a family man.) “Firefighters im riding with are like “How did this happen?” And im like “guys, this sounds ridiculous but I have almost a decade of protecting diplomats under my belt and we do *not* regard the secret service well.” These are the guys whose A-Team ####ed up an entire GD diplomatic mission because they stiffed an underage prostitute for like 30 bucks.“ So there may not be anything more than luck and myths working that this hasn’t happened more often.

@Links2kdoes have a point, this is just moving fast and hard to keep up with. This is the one warning to everyone. Everyone keep yourselves in check. Emotions are high, but personal attacks are not acceptable. This thread will get re-read a lot so what gets by tonight might not tomorrow.

Here’s the re-election image that will go down in history books.

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???

While I would’ve preferred he went through the full trial, this was the correct decision. Prosecutorial misconduct is not treated seriously enough and cannot be tolerated. -
This platform was written by DJT’s people according to his preferences. They’ve taken out of rendered meaningless the planks regarding abortion, the 2A and marriage. It’s a platform that would be comfortable for any 1980s NYC liberal Democrat. You know, like I’ve been saying DJT was since the day he showed up. The only positions the supposedly “conservative” GOP wants to conserve are the positions the liberals held 10-20 years ago.
