I get that, and I don’t present what he said as being authoritative, but simply something to consider. There’s a lot of information coming out, and a lot of opinions being proffered. We are well within the window of the 72 hour rule and it is wise to not make any final decisions or judgments based upon the information available as of this moment. That said, while these guys do a lot of training, it is also the first time any of them have actually had to do their job in the sense of being in the moment they are training for.

This platform was written by DJT’s people according to his preferences. They’ve taken out of rendered meaningless the planks regarding abortion, the 2A and marriage. Many did, yes. It was a lot of small overlapping touchstones that we lose more and more with each passing day. it makes me sad.

While I understand why someone would feel this way, I have to hard disagree. Movies used to be one of the touchstones of American monoculture. The lack of mass cultural commonalities has been supremely harmful for societal cohesion. We are a very large country in population and geography. We need points of commonality if there is any hope of remaining any sort of semi-cohesive entity. They seems insignificant, but all these myriad little points add up to something really important.

Covid shutdowns + the pivot to streaming broke the public of the habit of seeing movies in theaters. They’re all struggling hard now and Hollywood’s insistence on putting out crap movies focused on The Message isn’t helping draw folks back to theaters. I expect to lose at least one major chain in the next couple of years.

My daughter is 12, almost 13. My twin boys are 7. My approach is the same with all 3. Think about your actions and the possible consequences. Make good decisions. Seek to act as God has told us is best for us. Beyond that, I can’t do much on my own and thus pray for God’s guiding hand in their lives. As far as the “processes” that bring grandchildren, it’s a wonderful thing in its proper place. In abstract it doesn’t bother me, and I don’t view it as being different between my sons and my daughter. That said, I don’t ever need to know the details.
