Recommendation on small caliber revolver for wife
Chucktshoes replied to walton6467's topic in Handguns
I know it’s not the question that you asked, but small revolvers suitable for carry, even in smaller calibers, are generally awful to actually shoot and use. If I may offer a bit of a recommendation outside of your actual ask, maybe have her take a firearms familiarization class from a local range where she gets to try and use several different handguns. The benefit may be twofold in that she may discover more confidence with a semi automatic pistol, but also may help discover what will actually work for her. -
Thats not a bad theory either.

This is the direction I’ve come to lean. More and more it is appearing that he was a run of the mill wacko who was looking to go out with a real bang. “school shootings are passé. Now assassinations, those are exciting!”

Eh, it’s using really round numbers with the total number of ARs in circulation divided into the total population. Considering how many folks own multiple ARs, it’s probably much a lower ownership rate.

Diversity Equity Inclusion these programs are based on the idea that a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace will result in better outcomes for businesses and policy. In theory it’s a very innocuous sounding and positive idea. In reality, they are built on social Marxism and anti-white racism. it’s basically affirmative action on steroids and grifters like Ibram X Kendi and Robin D’Angelo make bank on their corporate and governmental agency workshops, pushing the BS. It’s also the reason universities have gone completely insane and companies like Disney can’t put out a quality product to save their life.

Somebody else mentioned, and I didn’t think about it at first, but these guys were best friends for decades. He threw him under the bus quick to save his own ass. Effin weak. I wish all of you to have better friends in your life than Jack Black.

The truth is it doesn’t matter which way it was intended. The result is the same.

No show to miss. That was an obvious troll post with no purpose other than to stir up ####. It was actually the second time the same post was made. I hid it the first time without sanction. My mistake apparently. The repost earned a week’s vacation. I actually quite like him which is why it was 7 days instead of the standard of 45 for trolling. I don’t normally discuss sanctions administered against folks publicly, but everyone really put in the effort to turn down the heat and actually talk to each other today for once instead of yelling at each other. I’m not letting that get derailed by a bit of crappy trolling that doesn’t actually relate to the subject at hand.

Ask him again in a week when he can post again.

I’ve only done it twice. I don’t know how to really describe it other than I just felt icky at the casino.

I don’t gamble. It’s not an activity I enjoy at all. Yet I would put hard money on this being the case.

For my part, it’s not a matter of “can“ it’s a matter of “feel comfortably saying did“. Those are two vastly different propositions.

I’m comfortable in saying and fully believe that all things work according to His will for the furtherance of His ends. I just am of the mind that we should be very cautious of laying that divine imprint on any specific instance. A pastor who has a YT channel I enjoy, Mike Winger, he said something once, and I don't remember exactly how he worded it, but the basic premise was: People love to chalk all sorts of things up to divine intervention. "God made the light turn green for me at that intersection", etc. When is it actually? The first thing to do is take what we know about who God is and what he wants to see happen. If you can't draw a direct line between the divine hand you thought you saw at work and the God you know from Scripture, than calm down. I guess what I’m trying to get at is that if we believe that God is at work at all times in all ways, in a sense, all is divine providence. What makes this moment deserving of special recognition and elevation? Is it God showing us action in an extraordinary way for His desires, or is it us ascribing extraordinary action to something because it aligns with our desires? I can’t answer that so I am simply advising caution when making statements regarding divine action. This excellent posts touches on what makes me uncomfortable about a lot of the divine action language that comes out surrounding Pres. Trump. It often walks very close, and sometimes crosses the point of elevating him in a manner that no man merits. My response to David covers the response to you, I just quoted you because I didn’t want to appear to be ignoring your response to me. Once again, I seek not to be dismissive or unduly critical, and offer these words with love and humility. If I seem extra cautious on this subject, it’s because I am.

That’s a good practice. It helps a great deal in being able to judge, whether or not the source is trying to play to an adversarial framing of the facts, or tickle your ears with what you want to hear.

I have not been one to hold the views of the southern preposterous lie center as anything of value in a very long time. Many years ago, they performed a valuable service, but have long since strayed from their original mission. as far as the article is self goes, the author absolutely has a particular viewpoint that they are trying to push. That’s something one should always be aware of in all media. Still am of the view that there may be data of value to consider here, we shall have a better idea in the fullness of time. Lastly, I don’t speak much about my faith because I do not want my weaknesses to push anybody away from drawing close to Christ. In this moment I feel compelled to speak up as a Christian though. Please accept these words with the humility and respect that they are offered. It is difficult enough to discern the intentions of man in any individual instance where they are unable to tell them to you. I find it a very risky proposition to ascribe divine motives to any event that cannot be truly tested by scripture. In this particular case, it risks, deifying a mortal man, and putting a divine mandate upon his shoulders. While I have openly expressed my feelings about President Trump, I am very grateful to God that he was not killed in this attempt on his life. I am praying for the injured, the dead, and their families. But please, to my brothers and sisters in Christ be very cautious before laying a divine imprint upon the events of Saturday.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2024/07/14/trump-shooting-gunman-father-ar-15/74401175007/ I’m starting to get the vibe that this may not have been as ideologically motivated as first assumed. It may very well be just a standard case of a disaffected weirdo looking for fame on his way out.

I put this thread on timeout for the moment in the hopes that we all will be able to lower the temperature and tensions, a little bit with a breather. In the meantime I will leave this for consideration and reflection.

Tracking. Thanks for the clarification. I did misunderstand the intent of your post.

Those restrictions still exist. They are still enforced by the state. It’s just that the agency tasked within enforcing them must follow the processes set for gaining access to private property. In other words, they must respect the liberties and natural rights enumerated in the constitution and have a sufficient reason that can be articulated to a judge to acquire a warrant. The state is subservient to the people, not the other way around. This is the proper manner of things.

The only thing around him that really could’ve taken the shot and caused a wound like that where the teleprompters and from the videos they were intact. When you watch at the exact moment of shooting, you realize that he turned his head right before the bullet got to him. It appears to me that if he had not done that the back of his skull would’ve been blown all over the people in the stands behind him.
