From TMZ: Brittany Murphy was very ill in the hours before she went into cardiac arrest and died, sources tell TMZ. We're told Murphy was taking prescription meds for flu-like symptoms she had been experiencing for several days. We're told Murphy began vomiting early Sunday morning and told family members she was feeling very ill. Sources say various prescriptions were found in the home -- written for Brittany Murphy, husband Simon Monjack, and Brittany's mom. One source says, "There were a lot ... a lot of prescriptions in the house." Law enforcement sources tell us Murphy collapsed in the bathroom and somehow ended up in the shower ... there was, we're told, a significant amount of vomit in the immediate area. We're also told authorities did not find illegal drugs in the house, but Murphy was definitely taking various prescription meds. Sources say her condition and the meds could have triggered a heart attack, but it's too early to know. An autopsy will be performed Monday or Tuesday. We reported earlier Monjack did not want an autopsy but ultimately it's the Coroner's call. As we first reported, Brittany Murphy's mother told paramedics her daughter suffered from diabetes. We're told it was type 2 diabetes and people involved in the case doubt her condition caused her death. ----------------------- Looks like the Heath Ledger call was right. Pharmies again. I guess this is the new thing, celebs used to OD on blow or heroin, now it is diladud and oxy.

As viscerally satisfying as hunting them down like packs of coyotes might be, I don't think anything of that nature would help. This is a large and complicated problem that has relation to the situation in Iraq and I think we could take some lessons from the "hearts & minds" strategy. First, Reverse these ignorant and counterproductive buyback programs and instead give firearms training and access to inexpensive firearms to the good citizens living in those neighborhoods. If every grandma and grandpa had a gun on them might give young thug # 2 a second thought. Second, change the use of force laws to something more like Texas where force is authorized for defense of property. Third (this is where hearts & minds comes in), organize armed neighborhood watch groups of folks who won't tolerate that kind of mess. Basically neighborhood militias. Nothing can be done about the gang problems until the good people who live with them won't tolerate them and expel them themselves. The key is to give them the means to do so, and for that we need to break the force monopoly of the gangs. And what P. Stegall said about narcotics legalization as well. Defunding the gangs would go a long way.

Why am I suddenly thinking about Len Bias? Hope I am wrong, but that's what I am thinking. Sad either way.

After reading some more on this story, apparently the HOA did have some legal standing in regards to a flagpole needing approval by the HOA. That being said; the man is a is a veteran of 3 wars and earned a MOH. If he wants to put a flippin' cannon on his front yard and fire it on the hour every hour and play revile when he raises the flag and taps upon lowering the flag, not only do you let him without giving him any crap you thank him every time he does it.

Hey HERO Can you reg my weapon as a AOW for me?

IIRC what makes a "pistol shotgun" an AOW is the smooth bore. They Judge has a rifled barrel and legally, that makes it a standard revolver. -
Hey, Hey It's Tiger click the little speaker icon to the right of where it says "original mix"

This crap pisses me off. Hopefully they can figure out a way to prosecute this professor in Maricopa County, AZ. source -
Look no further than the jerks in Washington who have no problem picking our pockets for all sorts of garbage that is not the job of the gov't to do. Over the last 40-50 years the Republican party morphed into Roosevelt New Deal Democrats while the Dems just slid even further left into socialism. RE:OP- Hells yeah, sounds right to me.

I know, and I wasn't meaning to sound negative. I just wanted to say that if someone does something like this in the future, try to get it some more visibility as it seems more people, including myself, would have liked to have taken part. It was an awesome display of generosity by the members here and I regret not having the opportunity to take part. So once again, I salute all those who gave in this endeavor. -
Good luck with that endeavor. There are many threads on this forum relating to the vagueness of the statutes in this state.

I agree that all humor comes from pain. There is somebody at the butt of any really funny joke. I have a theory that I borrowed from R.A. Heinlein's book "Stranger in a Strange Land" that human beings laugh because it hurts. Laughter is a self defense mechanism. The question to ask is are you laughing AT someone's pain, or because you identify with their pain? It is a subtle but distinct difference.

My wife and I feed our two senior pugs Natural Balance. Pugs are prone to allergy issues and we have never had a problem with it unlike some others we have tried. We used some of the Hills Science Diet prescription line at the insistence of our vet when our girls were having some UTI issues and discovered they were violently allergic to it. I highly recommend doing your own research on the ingredients of the pet foods you use and not to exclusively rely on your vets recommendations. Most nutrition courses in vet schools are underwritten by the major food manufacturers and they spend lots of money to push foods on vets much like the drug industry does with people doctors. To second tnpanscraper, corn is a filler product and wholly unnecessary (and possibly harmful) in pet foods. -

Make me proud to be a member here. If it is done again next year, how about making it a little more visible on the site and running the donation period a little longer. I will say I am impressed with how much folks stepped up in such a big way in quite a short time. -
They make them for your hands too..
