  1. I would have recommended a goruck. it would’ve met all your criteria, but you would’ve paid for it. https://www.goruck.com/products/gr1
  2. The clubs area doesn’t get much in the way of action, so good idea for the new thread. If nobody else steps up, I’ll talk to the wife about maybe being able to get free for a bit next time we come down for a visit with her folks.
  3. Small mercies.
  4. I’m just choosing to stay away from the city until whatever the hell is going on there right now chills the eff out.
  5. I don’t really know any details, just seen the reports and the pictures of a whole bunch of cops outside.
  6. And now there is an active shooting event going on at the IRS facility on Getwell.
  7. One of the big societal reorientations that I was referring to was the re-centering of emphasis on promoting intact families. The data on the link between single parent households, poverty, and crime is undeniable. One of the tools to that end that I don’t think folks have the stomach for is the end of no-fault divorce.
  8. No I’m not saying that you have to take it easier on people who commit crimes. What I am saying is that if you don’t attack the root causes then you can’t build enough jails for the people that you’re going to need to lock up. You understood what I was getting at. I do want an offer one correction. We actually don’t have a super high rate of violent crime compared to other developed nations. In fact, many of them have higher rates of violent crime. It’s just that our violent crime usually involves firearms. Media only focuses on that. They don’t focus on all the people who get stabbed and beaten to death in England or France.
  9. It’s real easy to look at individuals and point out how they should have been handled, but that doesn’t help much on the macro level. I won’t jump into the deep end of verboten territory, but the issues plaguing Memphis (and other metros) are socioeconomic in nature and that’s where the solutions will be found. We can’t incarcerate our way out of this. It’ll take concerted effort on a societal level and sacrifices on a lot of levels by a lot of folks to make those changes. I don’t know if folks really have the stomach for it.
  10. Confirmed. It’s Eliza Fletcher. https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/local/body-found-during-search-abducted-memphis-mother-eliza-fletcher-police-say/IZCGT5PUVJC2FJRG2ER54QYPKQ/#l7q7sijarp48jwnvu5a
  11. A body has been found. Identity not confirmed. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/body-found-during-search-for-abducted-memphis-mother-eliza-fletcher-police-say/ar-AA11v9Cj
  12. Nope. As long as it starts as a pistol or receiver, or anything other than a “rifle”, it can be assembled into a rifle configuration and back out again however much you choose with no issues at all.
  13. You make a very good point. Her family absolutely falls into the category of being the elite. They have the means and ability to ensure that his tenure as DA is very short-lived call if he doesn’t throw the full force and weight of his office against the perpetrator(s).
  14. I doubt he will as well. But it is still a bargaining chip to be held in reserve by the POS.
  15. To reiterate what @Erik88said: This case is another reminder to do everything you can to impress upon the women in your lives that if somebody attempts to force them into a vehicle or take them to another location they need to fight like their very lives depend upon it right then and there. Because they do.
  16. No body makes the murder charge a hell of a lot harder. The body location will sure as hell work as a great bargaining chip to avoid death row.
  17. He was convicted of an aggravated kidnapping in 2001 and spent nearly 20 years in jail for it.
  18. Local/regional meet ups used to be something that happened with regularity here in the past. In fact my closest friends on the planet are people that I met through a Memphis area TGO meetup. Even if you can only get a couple of people initially, I encourage you to stick with it. I encourage everyone to see about meeting up with the folks in your area and developing those relationships and communities. You may find yourself relying on them sooner rather than later.
