  1. You know, that really makes all kinds of sense.
  2. I remember when that happened and IIRC he wasn't actually charged, he was locked up for a parole violation, and after a couple months they let him back out.
  3. It t used to be a really slow center, I think more people are starting to head there instead of Summer. But it was pretty busy. got there @ 8:30, out at around 11.
  4. I wondered that too for a long time, then I spent a year and a half working in South Memphis. The trick is that they keep the tension on the pants with their thighs. Imagine trying to walk while keeping your legs in a position similar to parade rest.
  5. I should have, but I used the midtown loc. as it is just up the street from work. In reality it wasn't that bad for a Memphis DMV, only 2.5 hours.
  6. ...and I think my permit will be in the mailbox by the time I get out of here.
  7. I'd rather learn my breakdancing techniques from Riddick....
  8. I took your advice and found a LMT upper assembly - BCG and charging handle for $485 that I think I have just about decided on. LMT 16" M4 Carbine Upper Receiver Group combine that with the Magpul MOE stock/grip set from brownells in FDE and I am starting to get a pretty good idea of what she is going to look like.
  9. Thanks. I saw the sale on the DPMS LPKs, good to know they are ok. will order one of them. Anybody know anything about DS Arms uppers? Reviews are scarce, but all that are out there seem to be good (checked arfcom) and right now they have an upper on sale for 275 minus the BCG and charging handle.
  10. With all these .32's around inbred Austrian archdukes better watch out!
  11. Tomorrow I pick up my stripped lower and begin my build in earnest. I have been researching ARs for a while and decided that even though I haven't handled one since BMT in '96 I am gonna jump in and do it whole hog and build it myself. I have a basic idea in my head of what I want, but I don't have experience with what manufacturers make quality parts, who is overpriced and who to avoid at all costs. This is where y'all come in. I will use this thread throughout the build and solicit input on parts and design. Internally I am leaning towards mostly USGI and externally fairly basic with a few personalized touches. I am not looking to build a high end super mega ultra .000001 MOA tacticoolio monster rifle. I do want to end up with a solid, reliable battle rifle that can take a little abuse yet still perform when it needs to. I don't care about pretty, I like functionality. So first question, I need recommendations on a LPK. what are the pro's and con's of some of the different manufacturers? I do plan on having the trigger worked over, but not too much, so who makes a good LPK at a good price? Thanks in advance for the help.
  12. Chardonnay with family & friends. Merry Christmas everyone.
  13. I prefer high moisturizing fragrance free lotions (Lubriderm, Curel) to A&D because they don't smother the tattoo like an ointment can. Allowing air to get to the wound promotes a faster healing time with less sloughing of skin in my experience. One of my earlier pieces of ink bears witness to bad after care advice. Your work is good PR for studio 42. If I didn't already have a artist and shop (Tony Max @ No Regrets) I would definitely look at them for some ink after seeing yours. The fact that I live about 2 minutes from Studio 42 doesn't hurt, lol.
  14. Congrats! Watch out though, that "not a big wedding" can turn into a massive affair when her mom gets involved. It happened to everyone I know including me, lol. Just nod your head and say "whatever you want, honey" It will be good practice for after the wedding.
  15. Very nice, Is studio 42 that place on Whitten @ Macon?
  16. My wife and I hit the Loveless Cafe for breakfast last time we were in Nashville. Wow. Just wow.
  17. From TMZ: Brittany Murphy was very ill in the hours before she went into cardiac arrest and died, sources tell TMZ. We're told Murphy was taking prescription meds for flu-like symptoms she had been experiencing for several days. We're told Murphy began vomiting early Sunday morning and told family members she was feeling very ill. Sources say various prescriptions were found in the home -- written for Brittany Murphy, husband Simon Monjack, and Brittany's mom. One source says, "There were a lot ... a lot of prescriptions in the house." Law enforcement sources tell us Murphy collapsed in the bathroom and somehow ended up in the shower ... there was, we're told, a significant amount of vomit in the immediate area. We're also told authorities did not find illegal drugs in the house, but Murphy was definitely taking various prescription meds. Sources say her condition and the meds could have triggered a heart attack, but it's too early to know. An autopsy will be performed Monday or Tuesday. We reported earlier Monjack did not want an autopsy but ultimately it's the Coroner's call. As we first reported, Brittany Murphy's mother told paramedics her daughter suffered from diabetes. We're told it was type 2 diabetes and people involved in the case doubt her condition caused her death. ----------------------- Looks like the Heath Ledger call was right. Pharmies again. I guess this is the new thing, celebs used to OD on blow or heroin, now it is diladud and oxy.
  18. As viscerally satisfying as hunting them down like packs of coyotes might be, I don't think anything of that nature would help. This is a large and complicated problem that has relation to the situation in Iraq and I think we could take some lessons from the "hearts & minds" strategy. First, Reverse these ignorant and counterproductive buyback programs and instead give firearms training and access to inexpensive firearms to the good citizens living in those neighborhoods. If every grandma and grandpa had a gun on them might give young thug # 2 a second thought. Second, change the use of force laws to something more like Texas where force is authorized for defense of property. Third (this is where hearts & minds comes in), organize armed neighborhood watch groups of folks who won't tolerate that kind of mess. Basically neighborhood militias. Nothing can be done about the gang problems until the good people who live with them won't tolerate them and expel them themselves. The key is to give them the means to do so, and for that we need to break the force monopoly of the gangs. And what P. Stegall said about narcotics legalization as well. Defunding the gangs would go a long way.
  19. Why am I suddenly thinking about Len Bias? Hope I am wrong, but that's what I am thinking. Sad either way.
  20. Mixer for some type of masonry product like plaster maybe?
