  1. I'm on for that one. I can't run a solid mile at this point. My initial goal is to at least be able to run enough to where I could pass BMT again. Looks like couch to run would definitely accomplish that goal.
  2. Yep. And the staff over there is A-1. They are "my" local shop and I will buy from them if I can. They are a small shop, but they have a good selection and quite a bit of EBR goodness, especially for being such a small shop.
  3. I don't know if they have or not, that is just my boss's standing policy.
  4. Hey, It takes all kinds right?
  5. I live next to Shelby Farms where the Shelby County Sheriff's Office has their training facility and range. I can often hear gunfire in the evenings, I get a little jealous sometimes too.
  6. I work overnights (10hr shifts) at a 24 hr Walgreens and I struggle with eating decently during the shift. 1st thing I did was dump the sodas and coffee and started drinking water. I take a water bottle with me to work and refill it throughout the night. It is rough at first, but after a a few nights your body starts getting used to not having all the sugar and caffeine and you actually start to feel better and have more energy. Artificial stimulants (sugar/caffeine) you will build a tolerance and need more to get less result. Good food provides more and better energy once you get accustomed to it. The other thing I did was I sleep right after work and wake up usually around 5 in the afternoon. Then I have a normal dinner with my wife and spend the evening with her before heading into work @ 10. Then, during the night instead of eating junk, I bring a packed (small) lunch that gets eaten between 12am and 2am and if I need a snack or energy bump I will have some hard boiled eggs or a Cliff Bar. I like them cause they are tasty (unlike some others *coughcoughpowerbarcough*) and are oatmeal based and that helps them be more filling and provide more sustained energy. The reason I make sure to eat lunch early in my shift is to make sure that my body can use the food during the shift instead of eating late and then getting off work and having what I eat turned into fat while I sleep. Eat heavy early in your waking hours and eat lighter later in your waking hours. The biggest thing I have learned is that planning for the cravings in advance helps keep me from making poor choices.

I wonder about that cap on the front of the cylinder, will it direct more of the gases down the barrel or will there be bleed out around the edges and thus force the gases towards the shooter's face. Kudos for taking the gas issue into consideration in design.
  8. Last time I was @ Arms Fair on Trinity they had a RIA Compact for $475. You should go check it out and buy it before I get myself in trouble with the boss (again).
  9. After working on the flightline around F-16's (the exhaust does a great job of keeping your hands warm when it is really cold) even with double ears I have some hearing loss very similar to the above mentioned "4k notch". It makes hearing conversation difficult when there is a more than minimal ambient noise. So protect your ears! These days if someone wants to say something to me they have to ensure that they have my attention and I am looking at them first. I can say it cause me no end of headaches around the house with the wife.
  10. From the release this is the information I can surmise with some degree of certainty. There was a shootout, no officers or innocents were injured, the suspects were apprehended and charged. As long as they are convicted and receive appropriate sentences it sounds like one for the win column to me.
  11. Do yourself a flavor and make your way to the Loveless Cafe..mmmm yummy.
  12. My reason for applying for my permit is to have the ability to protect myself and my loved ones. As far as others go, unless I am %100 certain of all the facts in a given situation my gun is not going to clear leather, too many variables, Do I really know who is the good guy and who is the bad guy? Is the person with gun another citizen legally defending themselves ? Is it undercover LEO? Is it one of a million other reasons my gun needs to stay holstered? most likely I don't know which means I do my part and remember everything I can and be a good witness. I'm not LEO and therefore I am not empowered to and don't need to act like one.
  13. Looking at the tactical map, #3 is completely out, I still haven't seen a single box of .45 at my Wal-Mart
  14. They have pistol, rifle and archery ranges. As far as "responsible" people & public land, I live in Memphis so...'nuff said.
  15. They have surgery for that you know....
  16. School Name: Security Academy & supply Location:Memphis, TN - Lamar Ave Primary Instructor:Bill Howell HCP Class Cost: $90 (they often run specials, we paid $45 each) Website:Security Academy and Supply Phone number:(901) 542-9769 Your Personal Experience: Bill is personable and able to transmit information in a way that is fun without lessening the gravity of the subject matter. The class flowed in a manner that helped the mandatory 8 pass without dragging. The range is small yet I actually prefer it to some of the "nicer" ranges in town because the design of the dividers prevents any of your neighbor's casing from entering your lane and bouncing off your head.
  17. Veeeery Interestink...
  18. +1 on Stones River, it is on the list of must go to places whenever we head to Nashvegas.
  19. I have to say that was the happiest, most celebratory funeral I have ever attended. The service was a credit to the man he was and I am poorer for not having personally known him ( as I mentioned he was a HS friend of my wife's). I will say that at the end of the service when they rolled his flag covered casket out I almost lost it like a little girl. Godspeed SSGT Merriweather, Godspeed.
  20. Ahh, my bad. Shows what I know about lawyers and the lawyering they do. hehe.
  21. Worked at home depot for 3 years, had that happen once. no kidding.
  22. for your service and your sacrifice. We are indebted to you for that which you have done for us. SSGT Merriweather was a friend of my wife's in High School. Link
  23. "Here is the irony…camouflage is used to NOT stand out."
  24. I was just looking on there for some armed pics,
