How about low crime for Memphis? The problem you are going to run into finding a low crime area close to midtown is this, unlike most cities that have fairly well defined "good" areas and "bad" areas, in Memphis it is a block by block situation. No matter where you are inside the city limits you are just a few blocks from the hood. that's not an exaggeration, that's fact. The midtown area is awesome for amenities and things to do and places to eat. It also has high property crime (car break and home burglaries) large vagrant population (pushed out of downtown to keep them away from tourists) and high rate of robberies near and in one of the best parts, Cooper-Young. Your choices are lower crime where you live and a commute, or higher crime where you live and no commute. No getting around it and having both.

DSA finally has an upper reciever that is 1:7 and chrome lined for $325. This minus BCG and charging handle which isn't an issue as I was going to order a BCM BCG and BCM Gunfighter charging handle anyways. So does anyone have any experience with DSA uppers? What's the general quality like? Would I be okay with this upper or should I avoid them? I know they have a good rep for their FAL stuff, just unsure if I should wait to find another brand in stock as I am not interested in a 1:9 and 1:7s are hard to find in stock for less than $500( they all seem to have a rail that I don't want as of now)?

Does the fact that I enjoy the smell of Hoppes #9 make me a total weirdo? Of course I also enjoy the smell of diesel and small engine exhaust too, guess that comes from being a small engine mechanic at one time.

+1 Range USA on Whitten has a nice selection in the rental case. I would also recommend to try some of the .45 and 9mm handguns as all are capable calibers and you might be surprised what gun best fits you. Drop any preconceived notions that you may have and put some trigger time in before making a decision. Just my .02

Mabe not photoshopped, but definitely some camera trickery. Look at the way the guy's feet appear in relation to the rest of his body, I would venture to guess a fish eye or at least a very wide angle lens was used to make the Dane appear even larger than he actually is. Also the way the man is leaned back creates a forced perspective where. He is smaller than objects in the foreground much like the use of a forced perspective in some movies to make people to appear to be giants or tiny in relation to others.
