  1. I will be contacting you for one in the very near future.
  2. No need. We have plenty of options for indoor pistol ranges here. The lack is an outdoor rifle range. Unless you can shoot on private land or spend a bunch of money to join MSSA the is literally nowhere to legally shoot a rifle outdoors in Shelby County. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk
  3. A1 Above the fold story on T1G, just outside of Memphis in Crawfordsville, AR. War games: A short drive from Memphis, private training facility preps troops » The Commercial Appeal
  4. What kind of clip options are these holsters compatible with? I am wondering if these can be used with metal clips to make it tuckable.
  5. DRM,Please don't confuse my post as being supportive of you in this debate. Though I am in the pro-OC camp, your debate style in this thread definitely would not qualify for a chapter in "How to win friends and influence people". You set yourself up for failure in you OP where you asked for "just one" instance of someone being targeted because of OC. When what you asked for is given, you dismiss it because it doesn't meet the some arbitrary standard not given in the original post. Is the mind of the majority of those debating you already made up on the subject, yep. But so is yours and you refuse to even acknowledge anything that doesn't support your position as a legitimate response. It is a style that is strangely familiar to me and some others. BTW, not everyone you were debating is anti-OC, some just felt the need to call shenanigans on your responses to others in this thread. This.
  6. Since everything that is actually on topic in this thread is conjecture because the data to support either side simply doesn't exist I am going to throw my 2 cents in at this point. I don't think it is quite the same for the same reason attacks targeting LE is different. The uniform changes the dynamics of the interaction. The uniform makes a guard highly visible as a point of possible defense and therefore a priority target. An openly carried sidearm, though obviosly more visible than a concealed one, isn't as big of an identifier as a uniform. This is point is purely conjecture, but I think the deterrant level of an OC'd gun likely has more to do with level of professionalism of the criminal. An experienced professional will be able to quickly take note of details like OC civilians and guards, assess the situation and take proper steps to mitigate those risk factors. An ametuer may not notice or may not take the proper steps and decrease their chances of success while increasing the likelyhood of any armed defense. Or if he does notice, may abort if he decides the risk is too great. I would imagine there is safety in numbers though, I wouldn't want to be the lone guy with a gun if I could avoid it. Once again it is all a guessing game because the data simply isn't there to support any theory. As far as the back and forth in this thread, while I do side with DRM in principle, I can admit to there being a couple of documented cases of an OCer being targeted. However, 1 or 2 anecdotal instances does not make for conclusive or even hard data. Ultimately, this is one of those subjects decided for each person on emotion more than anything else. 7. That'll be cool.
  8. I have one on my Mossberg 500 and I would rate the felt recoil as less than half that with a standard stock. My step-father was amazed at the low level of recoil when he shot it, so it definitely falls into the category of "pretty noticeable". *Edit to add* It just clicked that you have the Maverick 88 which is essentially a 500 and are in Memphis. If you would like to give it a try, let me know. Be happy to let you try out mine.

    Burritos

I really dig the burritos @ Swanky's Taco Shop. There is a location in Franklin for you Nashville folks too. I think it is the salsa that really sets it off right (The hot is HOT).
  10. My first gun was also a Hi-Point .45. It was there what I could afford when I needed to get a gun in the house. I sold it about 6 months later, didn't have any problems with it, just used the cash to upgrade to a carry gun.

    RUGER LC9

From Wikipedia, In this case the context determines its usage to denote the grip and trigger as mediocre. There are worse out there, but they should not by any measure be considered "good".
  12. Carter, it would appear that two things you are missing in your life are spell check, and a coherent thought.
  13. In LE investigations, evidence is king. At my work we sell sudafed, guess who buys more of it than anyone else? Tweakers. Even though us and the MPD know what they are doing, they can't do anything about it without evidence. Which is why we keep electronic logs.
  14. The problem with shipping a a handgun is that an individual can't ship one via USPS, and the common carriers (FedEx, UPS) generally won't accept a handgun for shipment to anything other than an FFL. The law states that you must declare that you are shipping a handgun so you can't even just "fail to mention" it to the shipper either.

    RUGER LC9

I handled one at Classic and was left unimpressed. Grip=meh. Trigger=double meh. It is off of the buy list.
  16. I just recieved the NRA-ILA email regarding this bill. I really like some of the provisions in it. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk
  17. I'm sensing a correlation here...
  18. This. Only two types of people that that I know of sparkle, strippers and drag queens.
  19. This thread is reminding me that I need to go buy more ammo. /not joking
  20. From the looks of it to me, Strickj's title says it all, only the flaming started long before anyone replied to this thread, and some of the responses seem to be just as flaming as the original post. http://ladybunny.net/blog/uploaded_images/gay-702664.jpg
  21. I am admittedly of two minds on this subject. I support the legalization of all narcotics for recreational use because prohibition doesn't work and only enriches criminals and their organizations, yet, I hate ****ing tweakers. I am an overnight manager at a 24hr pharmacy and I see these bastards come in non stop all night long buying their pseudoephedrine based products. They roll in by the full car loads from AR and MS, coming in one at a time getting the variety of PSE drug their cook has requested (I have gotten to where I can tell which groups are going to same cook by which PSE drug they buy) they also steal other ingredients like lithium batteries or instant cold packs for the shake 'n' bakers. Interesting note, the amount of ammonia pellets in an instant cold pack is a perfectly premeasured amount for a 2 liter shake 'n bake. They come in so thick it affects our ability to help actual patients who need actual medicine. The TWRA oughta declare tweakers a pest animal and allow unrestricted hunting in or out of municipal limits. I will admit that I do have a strong emotional response to meth. My family is from AR and we have lost nearly an entire generation to meth. I have no less than 10 cousins either in jail, on parole, or with convictions on their records because of it and most of them still can't break free of it. When I was a teen my uncle (who is only 6 years older than me) was my best friend. I don't even know who he is anymore, meth has destroyed the vibrant, intelligent man I once knew and left a hollowed out shell with bad teeth who can't string together enough cohesive thoughts to have a conversation longer than 3 minutes. My abilities to approach this problem logically have been deeply compromised because of what meth has done to my family. For my own personal amusement however, I have started telling the tweakers that our PSE sales system is down and we can't sell and when they ask for directions to another 24 hour store I give them directions close, but with one or two wrong turns to have them end up in Orange Mound or parts of South Memphis that are not exactly smart or safe for a carload of tweaking /jonesing pieces of white trash to be in at 3am. If any MPD officers here end up having to clean up a resulting mess, sorry.
  22. That is some seriously bad news for a lot of banks that played fast and loose in the real estate and mortgage markets.
  23. You won't regret it. I just recently switched over to a M&P9c for EDC (got the whitish lettering on the slide) Couldn't be happier.
  24. Tercel89, you are correct, it is where the ILS keyhole would be if so installed. The ambi-safety cutouts in the frame are in close to the same place but actually sit a little forward of where the ILs plug is located. Plus, the ILS plug is only on the left side and there is no matching cutout on the right side for the ambi-safety.
  25. Stopped in there today and met/ BSed with Don and Kevin. Really nice guys, looking forward to when they have their FFL. If you are out that way, will definitely be a shop worth going to.
