  1. It is a good article. If I knew it was that easy to get into arms dealing I woulda quit Walgreens a long time ago. LOL. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk
  2. I am in agreement with, MBV over at Sipsey on this subject. With the gun laws we have in place I would rather have the weak, flawed BATFE mucking up enforcement than the strong even more flawed DHS using the full force of the provisions of the Patriot Act against gun owners. I shudder to think how badly that would go for our so called rights. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk
  3. LOL, that conversation ain't over by a longshot. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk
  4. There are no signs. I do wonder how it being run by the Conservancy (sp?) affects things in regards to posting. Shelby county has "opted out" of carry for all county owned parks. They own but do not run Shelby Farms. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk
  5. Whether built into the retail price in a brick & mortar or tacked on the end as a surcharge, trust me you are going to be paying the shipping fees. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk

    Ruger SR9c?

Considering the problems Kimber has with their 1911's and that is 95% of what they do, should it surprise you they couldn't make the KPD40 work? It doesn't surprise me that Ruger was able to do with the design what Kimber couldn't. My wife has the SR9c as her EDC. I very nearly bought one for myself until I decided on the M&P. 7. I would highly recommend Dr. Surret(sp?) at Memphis Animal Clinic. It is at the corner of E. Parkway and Central. Excellent facility and great vets. No matter where in Memphis we move, we are still going to take our girls there.
  8. I agree ,at this point this point I would say this thread has devolved into a measuring contest.
  9. If they aren't posting and you aren't drinking, it is legal to carry your firearm where alcohol is served for on site consumption.
  10. Here is a link to the promo video for the report tonight. Exclusive: ATF let guns into Mexico? - CBS News Video
  11. CBS is going to be airing a second segment on the CBS evening news tonight. Apparently an ATF agent is going on camera and on the record stating that he was ordered to let guns "walk".
  12. My wife has an SR9c for carry. I came very close to getting one before deciding on the M&P9c. Still might pick one up at a later date. They are a great gun.
  13. I will be contacting you for one in the very near future.
  14. No need. We have plenty of options for indoor pistol ranges here. The lack is an outdoor rifle range. Unless you can shoot on private land or spend a bunch of money to join MSSA the is literally nowhere to legally shoot a rifle outdoors in Shelby County. Sent from my MB511 using Tapatalk

  16. What kind of clip options are these holsters compatible with? I am wondering if these can be used with metal clips to make it tuckable.
  17. DRM,Please don't confuse my post as being supportive of you in this debate. Though I am in the pro-OC camp, your debate style in this thread definitely would not qualify for a chapter in "How to win friends and influence people". You set yourself up for failure in you OP where you asked for "just one" instance of someone being targeted because of OC. When what you asked for is given, you dismiss it because it doesn't meet the some arbitrary standard not given in the original post. Is the mind of the majority of those debating you already made up on the subject, yep. But so is yours and you refuse to even acknowledge anything that doesn't support your position as a legitimate response. It is a style that is strangely familiar to me and some others. BTW, not everyone you were debating is anti-OC, some just felt the need to call shenanigans on your responses to others in this thread. This.
  18. Since everything that is actually on topic in this thread is conjecture because the data to support either side simply doesn't exist I am going to throw my 2 cents in at this point. I don't think it is quite the same for the same reason attacks targeting LE is different. The uniform changes the dynamics of the interaction. The uniform makes a guard highly visible as a point of possible defense and therefore a priority target. An openly carried sidearm, though obviosly more visible than a concealed one, isn't as big of an identifier as a uniform. This is point is purely conjecture, but I think the deterrant level of an OC'd gun likely has more to do with level of professionalism of the criminal. An experienced professional will be able to quickly take note of details like OC civilians and guards, assess the situation and take proper steps to mitigate those risk factors. An ametuer may not notice or may not take the proper steps and decrease their chances of success while increasing the likelyhood of any armed defense. Or if he does notice, may abort if he decides the risk is too great. I would imagine there is safety in numbers though, I wouldn't want to be the lone guy with a gun if I could avoid it. Once again it is all a guessing game because the data simply isn't there to support any theory. As far as the back and forth in this thread, while I do side with DRM in principle, I can admit to there being a couple of documented cases of an OCer being targeted. However, 1 or 2 anecdotal instances does not make for conclusive or even hard data. Ultimately, this is one of those subjects decided for each person on emotion more than anything else. 19. That'll be cool.
  20. I have one on my Mossberg 500 and I would rate the felt recoil as less than half that with a standard stock. My step-father was amazed at the low level of recoil when he shot it, so it definitely falls into the category of "pretty noticeable". *Edit to add* It just clicked that you have the Maverick 88 which is essentially a 500 and are in Memphis. If you would like to give it a try, let me know. Be happy to let you try out mine.

    Burritos

I really dig the burritos @ Swanky's Taco Shop. There is a location in Franklin for you Nashville folks too. I think it is the salsa that really sets it off right (The hot is HOT).
  22. My first gun was also a Hi-Point .45. It was there what I could afford when I needed to get a gun in the house. I sold it about 6 months later, didn't have any problems with it, just used the cash to upgrade to a carry gun.

    RUGER LC9

From Wikipedia, In this case the context determines its usage to denote the grip and trigger as mediocre. There are worse out there, but they should not by any measure be considered "good".
