While we would like to believe the point being made, it is inaccurate. Per capita, Memphis ranks way higher and Shelby County has the highest number of permit holders in the state.

I have worked retail for over a decade and dealt with many instances of shoplifting. I have had more than my share of scraps with ####bag thieves. Most of them started after I confronted the thief and they tried to get away by using their fists, expecting me to disengage to avoid conflict. Hehe. The thieves have been trained by pansy assed corporate policies that they can act with impunity. They are quite surprised when they encounter someone who will give no quarter.

I agree with Mike on this one. If you have served your sentence, then your debt has been paid and you should not be forced into a second class citizen role with diminished rights and opportunity. The manner in which we handle ex-cons promotes recidivism. What it boils down to for me is that a gun is nothing more than a tool. If I can't trust you with a gun then I can't trust you with a knife or a screwdriver or a hammer or even a car. All are potential weapons. If you can't be trusted with anything that can be used as a weapon, then how can I trust you to walk free in society?

The larger the entity, the larger the HR/legal department, the harder it is to get fire people.

I would posit that this whole argument is a moot point anyways as nobody is actually a property owner. Through the imposition of property taxes and the ability of the government to take that property for nonpayment of said taxes or nearly any other reason it wants, thanks to Kelo, so called property owners are really nothing more than tenant serfs.

Smith's MSRP hasn't gone up, but in the defense of some of the brick and mortars that do have them at elevated prices, they may not be at fault here. I know that at the store I work at, the distributor that actually had them in stock has raised their prices on them. We essentially had to pay retail to even get them into the store. So our choices were to raise our prices, sell at a loss, or lose the sales entirely due to no stock. We raised our prices and still have no trouble selling them. I wouldn't expect prices to come down if they stay up for very long. The value of anything is whatever the market will bear. I have always viewed the M&P Sport as underpriced. When you look at build and component quality compared to other makers who charge $2-300 or more for their rifles (DPMS, Stag, Bushmaster, etc.) the Sport is a better rifle. Even if you feel that a forward assist and dust cover are essential, you can buy a stripped upper swap it out and sell the original upper and be out all of an extra $50 and still have a better rifle for hundreds less than most other mid grade rifles. That's enough saved that is better spent on a case .223. -Disclaimer- Though I mention I work at a gun shop, I do not mention it by name because these opinions are mine alone and I in no way speak for the shop.

Creating a new government is by its nature problematic and full of strife. All that being said, what are you willing to acquiesce to avoid bloodshed? How far down the road to slavery are you willing to travel to remain comfortable and safe? Where is your line? That is what this conversation is about for me. When do I stop ignoring the oath I took and begin defending the constitution against the domestic enemies in Washington? At what point am I willing to risk everything for a chance at true freedom? Something none of us in this country has ever actually known.
