  1. The deification of Reagan gets on my nerves. He wasn't the small government, stalwart defender of the 2A who single-handedly won the cold war that folks like to portray him as. He was just less terrible that the previous decade's presidents and had good timing for dealing with a USSR that was already very weak internally. As far as the 2A goes, Reagan is what many of us would derisively refer to as a "Fudd". He was no real friend of ours.
  2. I am a sucker for swag, so of course I'd buy.
  3. JayC, you make some very good points. I agree that these type of public/private partnerships are problematic, I would also agree that removal of the ability to have the private police force would generally be a positive. However, I still have very severe issues with the removal of the private police force being tied to an internal policy of what is at least a nominally private org. The funding should be removed, the private police force should be removed, but to tie that removal to an attempt to enforce a moral position makes it a bad bill. The ends do no justify the means here. It sets a terrible precedent that can't be supported. Sometimes the whys and the hows you do something are just as important as what you are doing.
  4. I think the best options for taking out a drone would be: 1. some sort of device to disrupt/jam guidance/control systems causing drone to crash itself 2. Munitions laden mini-drones that can be quickly deployed and flown into the offending drone basically a quadcopter with live transmission camera and an electronically detonated pipe bomb. Honestly, I think option 1 would be the easier (and less expensive) of the two options.
  5. In my defense, I play no video games and was not in the Army. I have only a vague familiarity with the above mentioned equipment. S when I say "how about X device?" I really do mean it as a question to the grunts in attendance. :) Anyways, I'm too busy studying how to make my own flamethrowers to worry too much about that stuff.
  6. How about an SA-7 or AT-4? might that work better? ;)
  7. You know I've known quite a few "immoral" women in my life as well. Those were good times. Hell, if I were to find out my wife were ballin' some other guy, my first thought would be along the lines of "my turn! I'm heading out to get some strange myself."
  8. That's what I thought you were getting at, but wasn't sure. Honestly, I don't blame them either. While a noble thought, let's be honest. Those folks had families too, and I don't know about anyone else, but my family's well being and safety comes before just about anything else, most especially fighting a futile battle to maintain order in the midst of societal collapse. The really ugly side of the NO coin was that a significant portion of the LEOs that stayed on the job went on to engage in illegal and immoral behavior of the worst sort. It is bad enough that you when chaos ensues and you have to worry about Thuggy McThuggerson and his pals running free like some 3rd world bandit, but when those that are supposed to stand in the way of that are also acting like a warlord from the same 3rd world cesspool and knocking down doors and taking your only means of defense, well, they deserve the same treatment as the first group.
  9. As was drilled into my skull in the Air Force, " the appearance of impropriety is impropriety itself."
  10. Sorry, not quite getting the point you are attempting to make and do not want to mistake it as this subject walks a fine line on this board. Would you mind being a little more specific?
  11. Damn, I love the Duffleblog.
  12.    It was ok to carry "illegally" as long as you weren't the wrong shade or were not involved in helping those of the wrong shade.
  13. I know right? If that happens, you're on your own.
  14. A trebuchet? That's what I call doing it with style.
  15. Corker was having dinner with Obama.
  16. Best description so far. "The last time there was a filibuster like this in Congress, it was the Democrats trying to keep blacks from getting their civil rights in 1964."
  17. I'm confused was this ever in doubt?
  18. I guess I will have to check mine when I fly to DC.
  19. In the interest of giving credit when due, Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon also assisted in the filibuster.

  21. Here is another very similar sounding story from the Associated Press. http://news.yahoo.com/researchers-report-sharp-rise-patriot-groups-170121578.html   This is not accidental.    Here is MVB's response on Sipsey Street Irregulars.   Be aware, if you openly value liberty, the constitution or the founder's ideals, then you are squarely in the government's crosshairs.
  22. Well, looks like they will just send drones from now on instead of the Federal Bureau of Incineration's Hostile Roasting Team in.
